5 Getting Started
♦ Once you have progressed farenough in the main story, you willbe able to change your Life freely(page 9).
4. Customize youravatar's name usingthe character iconson the TouchScreen. Select thegreen icons to switch betweencharacter sets. Select Confirmwhen you're done.
5. Choose a Life andenter the world ofReveria! For moreinformation on eachLife, refer to pages12-13.
1. Select Start Gameon the title screen.
2. Select an emptysave slot to createnew save data. Anempty slot willdisplay New Game.
3. Customize youravatar's voiceand appearance.
Starting a New Game
Select Add-On Content on the titlescreen to connect to the Internetand Nintendo eShop, where you canpurchase the Origin Island ExpansionPack. For more details, see page27.

♦ You will need at least two blocksfree on your SD card to downloadthe Origin Island Expansion Pack.
♦ Once purchased, the Origin IslandExpansion Pack can beredownloaded for free.
Continuing a SavedGame
Select Start Game onthe title screen. Thenselect your save data,press to confirmyour selection, andselect Yes to start your saved game.
6 Saving
Examine a savepoint or the bed inyour room(page 19) to saveyour progress.
Save point
Data can be lost due to useraction, such as repeatedlypowering off and on the system orremoving a Game Card or SD Cardwhile saving. Data loss may alsobe caused by poor connectivitydue to dirt or dust in the system'sports. Please be aware that inthese cases data cannot berestored.
You can have up to threedifferent saved games.

With a few exceptions, you canchange your Life as often as youwant outside of the main storyscenarios. Changing your Lifemay open up new adventuresand experiences!

Stars
If you acquire enoughof these, your rank inyour current Life willrise.
Bliss
If you report toButterfly in your roomonce you've gainedenough Bliss, you'llbe able to pick out aBliss Bonus. BlissBonuses let youenjoy various fun anduseful upgrades, suchas adopting a pet orincreasing the size ofyour Bag.
You will receive story-related requests fromButterfly in your room(page 19), challenges (page 11) related toyour Life, and other requests fromvarious characters in Reveria.Complete these quests to advancein the story and to gain Stars, Bliss,Dosh, and useful items.
Dosh
This is the currency ofReveria. Use it to buyitems, equipment, andother useful things.
As your rank (page 10) in a Liferises, you may learn new techniques(page 10) and crafts for makingitems.
Raising Your Rank
You will gain experience points bydefeating enemies and completingvarious other tasks, such as mining,woodcutting, fishing (page 14), orcrafting items (page 22). When youhave gained a certain number ofpoints, your level will rise,increasing your HP. You will alsogain some status points (page 17)to use on improving your Stats.
Leveling Up
As you perform various actions,you'll receive experience points forthe relevant skil ls. If you gainenough experience points for a skill,it will level up, increasing itseffectiveness. As your skill levelsincrease, you'll be able to usebetter equipment, tools, etc.
♦ The gauge will fill faster for skillsthat belong to your current Life.
Developing Your Skills
10 It's Your Life!
You'll be issued alicense for yourchosen Life at aGuild Office(page 20). Onceyou have received a license, you'llbe able to get on with your Life!First, you'll need to pay a visit toyour Life Master, who'll take you onas a pupil. The Master for each Lifecan be found somewhere aroundCastele.
Each Life has a certain number ofranks. Complete challenges(page 11), and then report back toyour Life Master so the Master canreward you with Stars. Once you'veearned enough Stars, you'll rank up!By ranking up you'll learn newtechniques or crafts for craftingitems (page 22), depending on yourLife. You may also receive rewardsfrom your Master or other supportcharacters.The Life ranks are as follows:Novice, Fledgling, Apprentice,Adept, Expert, Master, Hero, andLegend. Rumor has it that ranksbeyond even Legend may alsoexist...
Ranks
♦ You can check the controls forcombat and gathering techniquesby selecting Licenses in the mainmenu. Press to switch thedisplay on the upper screen andview the Command List.
As you rank up,you'll learntechniques relevantto your selectedLife. Those drawnto battle can learn combattechniques, crafters can learn newcrafts, and others can learntechniques to aid them in gatheringmaterials.
Techniques
Pursuing a Life will yield certainbonuses, such as increasedmaximum HP. The bonuses differfrom one Life to another.As you rise up through the ranks,your Life bonuses will also improve.
Life Bonuses
As you progress inyour Life, you'llmeet a number ofsupport characterswho'll kindly offerhints and may even pass a few itemsyour way. They'll also occasionallyissue challenges to you. Supportcharacters will display the icons fortheir associated Life (pages 12-13)above their names. When they havesomething new to tell you orsomething to give you, willappear above their heads.

Friendship
Once you have reached theFledgling rank in your current Life,you can go to a Guild Office to startanother Life. If you change yourLife, you will no longer be able touse the Special Skills (page 14)learned in another Life. However,you will still be able to use basicskills and techniques learned in anyother Life.
Changing Your Life
You will need the Origin IslandExpansion Pack (page 27) to usethis feature. If you spend a lot oftime adventuring with supportcharacters, your Friendship withthem will improve. The friendlier youget with your companions, thebetter.
11 Challenges
An Introduction toChallenges
For any given Life,you will be issueda number ofchallenges tocomplete aroundReveria. To view the challenges youcan undertake, touch when onthe main screen or select Licenses(page 16) in the main menu andthen press to see the challengesyou've been issued for the selectedLife.
Reporting to YourMaster
When youcomplete achallenge, reportback to yourcurrent Life Master.Your Master will award you Stars,allowing you to rank up. When yourank up, your Master will issue newchallenges for you.

14 Basic Actions

The various Stats for your avatar aredescribed below.
MagicDefense
Affects the amount ofdamage you take fromenemies' magicattacks.
Your tolerance to fire-element attacks. Thehigher this number,the less damage youwill take from thiselement.
Your tolerance towind-element attacks.The higher thisnumber, the lessdamage you will takefrom this element.
Your tolerance towater-elementattacks. The higherthis number, the lessdamage you will takefrom this element.
Your tolerance toearth-element attacks.The higher thisnumber, the lessdamage you will takefrom this element.
Both you and your enemies mayhave a certain element bound toyour attacks. The higher yourenemy's or your tolerance tothat element, the less damagean attack will deal.

Equipment is divided into categoriessuch as weapons, shields, tools,etc. Equipment from differentcategories will affect different Stats.Some equipment can only be usedby those in a particular Life or onceyou have reached a certain level,learned a particular skill, or reacheda certain level with the required skill.

18 Living in Reveria
The Passage of Time
Time marches on as you exploreReveria, and you'll soon find thatexploring the realm at night offers adifferent atmosphere and experiencethan in the daytime. You mayencounter new enemies in the wildand hear people talking aboutdifferent things in town. To advancetime to the following morning, selectSleep at the bed in your room (page19) or an inn (page 20). If youselect Rest during the daytime, itwill become night.
You can collectvarious plants,fruits, insects, andother naturalresources that arefound throughout Reveria. Then youcan sell the items to shops or usethem to craft other items (page 22).And, of course, some items can beused just the way they are.
Collecting Items
Once you'veearned enoughBliss, you'll be ableto keep pets inyour room and amount at the stables (page 20). Youmust choose to purchase these BlissBonuses after having Butterflyperform a Bliss check. You can takepets out adventuring, and mountsmay be ridden in various placesaround Reveria.
Keeping Pets andMounts
Combat
Beasts and Bounties
As you defeatenemies in thefield, you'll earnexperience points.Enemies will alsofrequently dropDosh and items foryou to collect. Certain enemies onlyappear at night, so it can pay to beadventurous.
Enemy's HP
If you lose all your HP in battle,you will collapse on the spot.You can use a Life Cure to reviveyourself immediately, or you cansimply restart from your mostrecent save point or from yourroom.
Running Out of HP
Reveria is home tosome exceptionallypowerful monsters,and when youdefeat one of them,a Bounty may appear. You can takeup to three Bounties at once to aBounty Clerk to obtain a reward.Bounty Clerks can be foundthroughout Reveria, both out in thefield and within each Guild Office(page 20).
19 Your Room
This is youravatar's home.There are a numberof options availablehere.
MailCheck the lettersyou've received in thepost (page 20).
Arrange
Add, remove, orrearrange the decor inyour room. Furnitureand other decor canbe crafted, purchasedin furniture shops(page 21), andobtained as challengerewards and via othermeans.
Storage
Place items inStorage, or withdrawitems to carry withyou.
Theater
Watch movies andlisten to music fromthe game, and readthrough the storycompleted so far.
While in your room, touch My Roomon the Touch Screen to display themenu. The following options will bedisplayed:

In Castele and other towns, you'llfind many different shops, services,and other establishments, includinga Guild Office and item stores.

Obtain licenses here, or cash inBounties with the Bounty Clerk tocollect your reward. In the CasteleGuild Office, you can also join orinvite other players for Multiplayer(page 24) and manage yourStreetPass settings (page 26).During Multiplayer, you can use theExchange Box to swap items withother players (page 24).

Talk with theAlly Clerk at theback of theGuild Office inCastele to hearall about Snapshots, Ally Modefeatures (page 25), and onlineMultiplayer (page 24).

Each major townhas its own stables.For example,Castele's arelocated in SouthCastele. Here, you can call yourmount or rent one from the staff ifyou don't have your own yet.
Each town also hasa garage and anairship port.Castele's garage islocated in SouthCastele, while the airship port is inWest Castele. Ride in aircraft totravel around Reveria quickly andeasily.

Items you craft, if exchanged viaStreetPass or Multiplayer, maybe saved by a third party. Formore information, refer to page2.
23 Lunares Coins
You will need theOrigin IslandExpansion Pack(page 27) to usethis feature. As youprogress in the game, you'll receiveLunares Coins from Pam and variousother characters. There are twotypes: gold and silver. These coinsallow you to offer prayers at theGoddess Statues (page 20) locatedthroughout the land.
Talk to Pam, and complete Pam'serrands to be rewarded with LunaresCoins. Use the coins to pray atGoddess Statues and receive specialitems.
These are rare Lunares Coins you'llreceive for completing SpecialRequests and some of the laterButterfly's Requests. You can alsoobtain them by trading SilverLunares Coins with a certaincharacter in-game. These coins canbe used to get extremely rare andpowerful items.

24 Multiplayer
Play together with up to two otherplayers. Invite them to your world,or visit theirs, and explore to yourheart's content. You can alsoexchange items with other playersusing this feature.There are two types of Multiplayer:local play and online Multiplayer.Play together with others nearbyusing local play, or connect withfriends anywhere in the world usingonline Multiplayer.

You may find it convenient toinput phrases you use often toyour list of short messages. Youcan register your messages byselecting Options on the mainmenu and then Edit ShortMessages. Once you haveregistered a short message, itwill appear on the main screen.To send a short message, allyou have to do is tap the oneyou want to send on the TouchScreen.
