dudu gonzagaMy name is Carlos Eduardo Gonzaga, but I am better known as Dudu Gonzaga, I’m 19 years old and live in Barbacena, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. I am writing to tell you my story.

Well since childhood, with approximately 4 years, I began to show ease to draw, and when I entered the school distinguished myself by drawing with great wealth of detail human figures. In childhood I discovered that my gift is the creation, I always liked to create. Thus was born the dream of becoming a stylist, and since then I’ve been maturing this idea.

I am the son of poor couple, my mother is a housekeeper and gardener my father, and even with the difficulties that does not stop me from believing in my dreams. I won a gift from God, am detail oriented and observant, my inspiration comes from nature, birds, woman. Self-taught, never had any course to enhance my sketches. My dream is to one day study fashion, making fashion college! Unfortunately I do not have resources to invest in studies, I am strong and believe in my ideals and I gradually build and realized my dream.

Sweetie is a scruffy 9-month-old puppy who boasts that fun, affectionate and spunky personality that Welsh terriers are known for. Rain or shine, this ener-

getic girl is game to walk, run play or investigate. She would be well suited for an owner who is just as ready to tackle anything anytime. Sweetie is partially

housetrained and she knows a few tricks- some of them are useful… other’s not so much. Just be sure to keep the laundry basket out of her reach as she likes

to steal dirty shirts and drag them around the house. With a little patience and an endless amount of love, she is sure to be a loyal and faithful companion.

I first want say what an honor it is to be invited to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and thank you to the academy of art university for allowing me this opportunity. also, a special thanks to Fashion-Faces Magazine for sending me to new york as their Fashion Corespon-dent covering the academy of art university spring 2013 show. each collection was uniquely different from student to student. From geo-metric layered textiles to fabulous pops of color, there was trends to be loved by any fashionista. the execution and attention to detail was impeccable. here are a few of my favorite spring 2013 Fashion trends forecasted by the design students at the academy of art university.

the layered side bun/chignon- Love the simplicity of this hair style. it can

be played up to be very chic and sexy or styled with a comfortable airy

look to keep it soft and wearable durning the day.

Who said you can’t wear white after Labor Day? They definitely did not go

to school at the academy of art university. stephina touch’s spring 2013

all white collection was classy yet comfortable, her choice of soft white

silhouettes on the runway caught everyones attention.

Metallic cross-hatch patterned textiles was all the rage with the collabora-

tion from Jie Jessie Liu and tanja Milutinovic. those who love textured

textiles will love this spring 2013 trend.

Bright Neons and Feathers make a bold statement for Spring 2013. Ginie C.Y. Huang eye catching collection was all the buzz at the Merecedes-Benz Fashion Week show.

French Textile Collectionthe French textile Collection open the show with a fabulous collabora-tive collection, with bold graphic prints and silhouettes, the collec-tion was a collaboration of four M.F.A. Fashion Design students, five B.F.a. Fashion Design students, and two B.F.a. textile Design students and the following French textile mills who donated fabrics to be used in the collection: print (aB Creations); silk, jacquards (BeLinaC, Denis&FiLs, PhiLea, sPrinteX); wools (CLarenson); lace (soPhie haLLette, soLstiss); knits (DeVeauX, heniteX internationaL, PhiLea, sPrinteX); velvet fabric, stretch corduroy fabric, jeans wear, pigment dyed (VeLCoreX); and technic/sports fabrics (aVeLana, rouDiÈre).

Jarida KarnjanasiriratJarida karnjanasirirat’s collection was all about construction and dimension, Born in Bangkok, thailand, she earned a bachelor’s degree from thammasat university before coming to academy of art university to pursue a master’s degree in Fashion Design. karnjanasirirat wanted to mimic the structure of relief sculp-tures – in which elements of the sculpture are raised from the background. she created three dimensional collars, lapels, and pleats, bringing her inspiration to life in her garments. taking every detail seriously, she designed an eye catching collection that anyone who appreciates good design would love.

When asked about other designers she admires karnjanasirirat said “Marc Jacobs and Francisco Coasta:. inspired by the pro-cess of designing and making clothes karnjanasirirat is well on her way to becoming a fashion designer sought after for her perfect detail and construction.

Jie Jessie Liu was born and raised in Penglai, in the shan-dong Province of China, and earned her B.F.a. in account-ing from york university in Canada. at academy of art university, she has earned her M.F.a. in Fashion Design. Liu collaborated with textile designer tanja Milutinovic for her spring 2013 collection. she was inspired by the art-ist anish kapoor, known for his geometric, streamlined sculptures and installations, which she interpreted in the garments’ sharp lines and angular silhouettes. as a young girl Liu loved to dress her Barbie dolls, and like so many other fashionistas became a shopaholic. While working in finance she loved looking at fashion magazines and de-cided to follow her heart and become a designer.

Preparation meets opportunity, meet Alex - face of the future.

Becoming a top model is a dream many girls aspire to, for Alex, just 13 one sum-mers day in 2012 opportunity found a face of the future. Attending a model casting with her mother Erika in the Slovak capital Bratislava, her home city was a day that changed everything for the fresh-faced Alex.

Fast growing HM Models immediately saw the potential of Alex; the casting crew were taken aback not just with this fresh new face but with Alex’s personally and ma-turity, they knew they were looking at an outstanding prospect. Perhaps as important to Alex’s looks was the positive and professional support from her mother Erika, this will be particularly important in the competitive demanding world awaiting a young model.

But there’s a twist to the story, HM Models whereas being based and recruiting in central European countries such as Austria, Czech Republic & Slovakia, well known as talent rich scouting markets actually focuses on “international marketability” of its models in Paris, Milan, London, New York thus working with the world’s biggest agencies and brands.Just days later on a visit to Bratislava the Director of agency from Milan spotted Alex’s picture on the new faces portfolio wall of HM Models office, that’s when the “who’s that” moment struck. Everything happened very fast following that change moment explains Christian Hummer CEO & founder of HM Models, “Alex was invited for casting in Milan, supported by her mother Erika, Alex was booked for 2013. Alex has the rare opportunity to live the dream dreamt by many girls working and living in Milan as high potential model.”

Some might question the pressures of becoming a professional model at such a young age, but when the moment of opportunity strikes life’s too short to be a dream killer, especially with a supportive family and highly professional agency supporting the chance of a life time. Alex looks set to be a face with a big future, riding the waves of competition and envy with professional support shows that at 13, you’re never too young to live your dreams.
