I’m behind on getting our new deacons elected. It’s time to do that. We’ll vote on
them on Sunday, February 9, by ballot. Here are the candidates: Jason Terry, Neil Wash-
ington, Mike Rottinghaus, James Allen (O), Norm Mason (O).
Some of our church family have enjoyed some accomplishments recently. Bryan Smith is the 2014
Chairman of the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce. And at the annual banquet Mike Ferguson
was named “Man of the Year.” The Dolans and the Eastwoods business, Orange Leaf, received the
award for “Small Business of the Year.” And just a few short months ago Barry Howard was
named to the Arkansas Golf Hall of Fame. Congratulations to these folks and to all of you who take
your faith into the community and the marketplace!
This Sunday we’re beginning a new series called Spiritual Cardiology. Many of you have spent
time in a cath lab, a cardiologist’s office, or in a cardiology rehab program. We’ve got a lot of stents
in the congregation. Aren’t you glad there are doctor’s trained to make our hearts healthy? The Bi-
ble sees the heart as the seat of emotion and devotion. So we’re going to see how the Bible can serve
as a spiritual cardiologist for us, diagnosing and treating spiritual ailments of the heart. Here’s the
way the series lays out:
Feb 2 The Hard Heart (Ezekiel 36:26)
Feb 9 The Deceitful Heart (Jeremiah 17:9-10)
Feb 16 The Bitter Heart (Psalm 73:16-28; Proverbs 14:10)
Feb 23 The Broken Heart (Psalm 51:16-17)
Mar 2 The Merry Heart (Proverbs 15:13; 17:22)
Mar 16 The Pure Heart (Matthew 5:8)
It all begins this Sunday as we think together about the hard heart. You probably know someone like
this. See you Sunday.
Your Pastor,
John

“Grow and Increase.” Come hear a story of how a long-term com-
mitment to short-term missions has been blessed by God with growth
and the increasing of His disciples. Colleen Lohrenz will share pho-
tos and testify to the work of God in Cofradia, Mexico. She has been
going to Cofradia with women’s teams since 2005 and in January of
2014 saw mature disciples at work. You will be challenged to pray
for God’s work through the women on the June Alaska trip to have
the same focus of growing and increasing disciples.
