FD/BEng (Hons) Engineering Subject areas General Engineering Engineering Management Mechanical Systems Engineering Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Aeronautical Systems Engineering Eligibility Staffordshire University’s engineering programmes have been specially developed to recognise the training undertaken by a wide range of Armed Forces Technicians and Engineers. They include a number of entry points ranging from generic trade training/NVQ 3 to direct entry to the BEng (Hons) Top Up for HND holders. Created following detailed negotiation with the technical/engineering trades and branches and the Defence College of Aeronautical engineering, the breadth of awards offered within the programmes will cater for all levels of expertise. Based around a series of core modules and supported by a comprehensive selection of option modules, the award structure enables students to create a highly tailored programme of study which is just as relevant to the needs of technicians progressing through their training as to the requirements of commisioned officers seeking an academic perspective and individuals considering their options prior to leaving the service. There is a strong focus placed on Work Based Learning and this will increasingly reflect and draw on a student’s working environment. It is therefore essential that students should expect to be employed in an engineering environment for the duration of their studies. Start dates We have intakes in January, May and September. At a glance Flexible framework for tailored award Entry points ranging from NVQ3 to HND Choice of step-off points Optional weekend workshops and blended learning Major focus on work-based study Remote/on-site support for all modules HM Forces Accreditation Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available dependent on the level and relevance of previous study/experience and may reduce the amount of modules that you are required to study. How much does it cost? Current fees can be found at www.staffs.ac.uk/HMForces or contact a member of the HM Forces Team. The University is an approved ELC Provider and students may use ELC’s to help fund their studies. How to Apply Before you can apply for a place on the course you must attend a Course Briefing Day (CBD). The purpose of the CBD is to provide an in-depth overview of how the programme is structured, the commitment required to study at undergraduate level and to explain the online application process. A number of CBD’s will be conducted prior to each intake - please contact a member of the HM Forces Team for details of dates and locations. Eligibility Staffordshire University’s engineering programmes have been specially developed to recognise the training undertaken by a wide range of Armed Forces Technicians and Engineers.

Start datesWe have intakes in January, May and September.

At a glance■ Flexible framework for tailored

award■ Entry points ranging from NVQ3 to

HND■ Choice of step-off points■ Optional weekend workshops and

blended learning ■ Major focus on work-based study

■ Remote/on-site support for all modules
