The Exalted Ruler’s Message
And just like that, it’s February. By the time you are
reading this, we will have closed out a busy January with our
annual French Night dinner dance. Great food and dance
music from The Adams Band made for an excellent night of
fun. Hope you had a chance to be there.
We have several events coming up in February that you
should check out. The month starts out with the first of two
steak nights on February 5th. This is followed by “Old
Timer’s Meeting” which will be held on February 6th , when several of our past Exalted Rulers step back into the chairs to
run the meeting for an evening. This meeting is also the time
for 2014-2015 officer nominations – so please come to the meeting and let your voice be
heard. There are several open positions for the upcoming year, and all members are
welcome and encouraged to participate.
Next up is the much-anticipated return engagement of the Coffee Jazz Band who will
provide toe-tapping tunes on Friday night February 7th for. These folks are a great, high
energy group that features several of our members as musicians. Drop by for a fun time
on Friday the 7th.
Then please take a few moments and support your Lodge’s team at the Penguin
Plunge on Saturday February 8th on Burlington’s waterfront. A stalwart group of Elks will be jumping into the lake to support Special Olympics. If you haven’t donated yet,
check out their web page and give them some love (www.firstgiving.com/team/247582).
And come to the lodge on Saturday evening the 8th for another round of the ever popular
Bar Bingo hosted by JoAnn, Lynne and the Mikes.
Thursday the 13th of February brings the next to last 325 club meal and drawing. The
excitement is building as we race to the end of the run – this month’s meal of Chicken
Marsala is always a big hit – so call in for reservations by February 11th, please. Your
cooperation is appreciated as calling in a reservation two days in advance helps our
kitchen crew make the right amount of meals..
February 19th is our second Steak Night of February – hope to see you there for great
food and fun company. By the way, let me thank the Eldoes for bringing desserts for
steak nights and 325 club meals – they are much appreciated (and are delicious, too). Regrettably, I have to bring up some rather distressing incidents that have been
happening with alarming frequency at our lodge. We have had several things go missing
over the past couple of months – a quantity of hand and power tools from our
maintenance cage, two industrial floor drying fans, one of our recently installed sump
pumps and most recently the dedication plaque for the Dizzy Desilets Dining Room. We
were hoping that the tools and equipment were borrowed and will return – but the
missing dedication plaque is quite disturbing. Any help in locating these items would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Until next month . . .
Jim Procopio, Exalted Ruler

NOTICE! PROPOSED LIFE MEMBER DUES CHANGE!
At the January 16th membership meeting, two motions were made by the lodge trustees that affect Life Mem-
bers and potential Life Members. The first motion is to raise the Life Member Dues to 50% of the full dues.
Presently, this amounts to $35.00 for Life Member dues. The second motion proposes to reduce the total number
of Life Members that Burlington Lodge will allow to be on the membership listing at 200 members. There are
currently 182 Life Members. These two motions were voted on and approved by the members present, however,
since this requires a by-law change, it is being warned in the bulletin. The final vote on accepting these by-law
changes will be held on February 6th at the regular member meeting.

Eldoes Corner
Well guess what – it is still icy, wet, raining, snowing.
The weather still hasn’t changed from last month. I know
that some have not fared too well because of this. A few falls, flooding and even some heating systems playing
havoc with all. Ain’t life just grand!!!!! Get well soon
and get everything up and running again. By the time this goes to print, we will have had our
January meeting and “holiday” dinner as well. I will
thank the proper parties for their assistance in the next
bulletin. Really can’t assume anything these days. I hate to repeat myself, but our basket raffle will be
drawn at the last 325 dinner on March 13th. SOOOOO
you still have plenty of time to take a chance. We al-ways like donations – so don’t be bashful – just give me
a call and I will be glad to accept it. A big THANK
YOU for your continuing support of the Eldoes. Our dessert table has been going very well. It is al-
ways nice to see the support of the Eldoes who provide
the desserts and to all of you who apparently do not like
to eat them. We will continue doing this until the “need” is over. haha
As this goes to print, Swans of New England Tours
will have participated in the 50+ Expo. Something new for us and it should prove beneficial to the Elks/Eldoes
as well. A brochure has been created showing all of our
scheduled trips at this time and will be available at the lodge. If more information is needed you can contact me
and I will share what I know. (did I say I know some-
thing – NOT) We have some interesting trips planned
ex: Boston Flower Show, Atlantic City, Cape Cod, Big E, Patsy Cline Tribute with a lobster dinner, mystery trip,
numerous casino trips and the list goes on. So we hope
to have you join us on one of these ventures. The prices are right and the “buses” are fun.
February 18th will be our next regular schedule meet-
ing starting at 6:30. Guests and prospective members are
always welcome – so please bring someone with you. Never know – they might just want to join this wild and
crazy group.
February birthday wishes go out to: Marie Ago Cheryl Demers Elsie Dinwiddie Gisele
Fontaine Agatha Morrow
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Please remember Eldoes and their families in your
thoughts and prayers.
Til next month - - - Sincerely –
