NEW SYSTEM: Rather than all articles being due at the end of the semester, articles will be due 1 to 2 weeks after the event you sign up for. This is to promote commitment to the newsletter, as well as make things easier for you all! :)

Points System● 5 Points:

○ General Member Meeting

○ Academic enrichment, social, business development, health and wellness event

○ Applying for a national or local ALD scholarship

● 10 Points:○ Writing for ALD Newsletter

○ Volunteering for over an hour at an event

○ Service Event

What’s going on in February?

Cover UConn in ALD● Wear your ALD shirts all day

● Monday, February 11

● Send a picture of you somewhere notable on campus

to our email for 5 points

Informational Sessions● February 6th and February 12th for prospective

members

● Not for you guys, just an FYI

Minute-to-Win-it● February 18th, 6:30pm-7:30pm Koons Hall room 116

● Fill out the google form to make your own team or be

placed on a team

● Win prizes and gain points!

Induction Ceremony● February 21st, 4pm-7pm Rome Ballroom

● Looking for volunteers from 3:50pm-7pm (may finish

early but please arrive promptly at 3:50)

● Dress business casual and wear your pin if you have it

● Earn 10 points for volunteering the entire event

Local Scholarships● Katie Jo Michel Roaming Husky Award-This scholarship is intended for students who have

studied abroad and were positively impacted by their experience. The award amount is $1000 and is evaluated based on application answers that focus on ALD participation and the impact of studying abroad, resume, and transcript.

● Paper ‘n Paws Award-This scholarship is for students who excel in class while contributing to the community. Applicants are evaluated based on application answers that focus on ALD participation, resume that includes community involvement, and transcript that showcases high grades. The award amount is $500.

● Continuing Education Award-This scholarship is for students who are enrolling or enrolled in graduate school in Fall 2019 to continue their education. The award for $500 will be evaluated based on application answers that focus on ALD participation and the way ALD has contributed to continuing education, resume, and transcript.

Faculty of the Year Award● Nominate one faculty member for the impact they have made on their

students

● Submission form online

● Please write 10-15 sentences in your submission as this will be read at

induction at the time of giving the award

● Provides a plaque, $500 check for recognition

Looking for Volunteers for Media Support● Looking to make our first ever PROMO VIDEO● Need help:

○ Taking pictures/videos at events○ Shooting footage for the promo video specifically○ Editing and production experience

● Need help taking pictures at events for our Newsletter and Scrapbook○ If you have a camera that would be very helpful
