EMMBROOK INFANT SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER
January 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year and welcome back. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New
Year and are well into the swing of things again.
The children are all settling back in and working hard as we approach the mid-point of
the year. January has been a busy month with Meet the Teacher, the appointment of a
new School Council, and lots of visitors!
As a whole school we are continuing to reinforce the Golden Rules and the Core Val-
ues to ensure our school is a happy and safe place to learn in. Do talk to your children
about these and help develop their understanding of them at home.
I look forward to seeing you all this term– either on the drive or at any of the
various parent events we are holding this term.
Best wishes
Corrina Gillard
February’s
Core Value -
Curiosity
All Aboard the Life Bus… which parked up in school on 8th and 9th January
to deliver workshops to all the children helping them make informed choices
that will help them live healthier and safer lives.
Foundation learnt ‘All About Me’, Year 1 learnt about
‘My wonderful Body’ and Year 2 learnt and dis-
cussed ‘Feelings’. They all seemed to really enjoy
their time on the bus!
Ofsted came to school!…..
Ofsted came into school on 15th and 16th January to carry out a Section 5, two
day inspection. Once we have been sent the report, we will contact all parents
and carers. I would however like to take the opportunity to thank you all for
your continued support of the school and for taking time to complete the par-
ent survey.
Visitors! Reverend Lamey visited school on 14th January and delivered an assembly
on Resilience - our Core Value for January. The children always enjoy
listening to our visitors and they in return, always tell me how polite and well
behaved the children are.
PCSO Karen Bird came into school on 21st January to run an as-
sembly on ‘Staying Safe’. She talked to the children about road
safety and how to stay safe when cycling or scooting.
Year 1 Cake Sale
Thank you to all Year 1 parents and carers who kindly donated so many
yummy cakes for our cake sale. Year 1 raised a brilliant £82.80 which
will be used towards resources for their year group.

Governors’ message - Mr Paul Hunsdon (Health and Safety)
The Health and Safety of our staff and pupils is a priority for the school’s Gov-erning board, as the designated Governor for Health & Safety for the school, I thought I would give you a quick overview with regards to how important the subject is to ourselves and everyone in involved in the daily operations of the school. We’ve recently been audited by the Local Authority’s Health and Safe-ty team, which resulted in very good feedback. Our approach to important subjects such as Traffic Management onsite, Fire safety, evacuation plans, play-ground & sports equipment upkeep & maintenance, and medical training of our staff all met with approval of the authority.
A full copy of our Health and Safety policy is available on the school’s website and is reviewed annually.
