The portal gathers diverse research based and practical climate change information into a more uniform format under one address. Timetable May 2010: technical pilot version with a sample of the contents demonstrated December 2010: pilot version with substantial part of the contents and functionalities released August 2011: Finnish version (Ilmasto-opas.fi) released September – December 2011: regional and thematical workshops for local authorities December 2011: English (Climate- guide.fi) and Swedish (Klimatguiden.fi) versions released

Community response – Planning and executingSupport for local scale planning and decision-making as well as options for adaptation and mitigation in municipalities.

“Municipality Response Wizard” helps you to:

• quickly grasp the main impacts of climate change in each sector of municipal sphere of authority

• understand the possibilities for adaptation and mitigation in municipalities

• assess a set of actions most suitable to your municipality

• find case studies and best practices

This section will be as of September 2011 directly accessible at kuntienilmasto-opas.fi. Sections tailored to other user groups and sectors of society will be developed after release of the

Learn from the past,look to the futureFamiliarize yourself with observed and anticipated climate change and its impacts through maps, graphs and tables.

”The maps, graphs and data” section is your tool for:

• observations on past and present as well as modelled future Finnish climate

• observations on impacts of climate change, modelled impacts in the future as well as options for adaptation

• visualisation and downloading the information of your choice of geographical region in Finland (e.g. county or catchment area)

All this through easy-to-use interface to support you in your planning and decision-making processes.

Climate Change ExplainedA comprehensive set of information on climate change: the impact, climate change mitigation and how to adapt to climate change.

”Climate Change Explained” section includes for example:

• reliable and diverse information

• more than 300 web articles

• definitions

• animations

• interactive e-learning tools

• case studies

• emission calculators

• videocasts and semcasts

• webinars

Special attention has been put to intelligibility and user-friendliness of the contents produced by Finnish research institutions and expert organizations.
