PM Follow the link to get the Early years section of White Rose

Maths- this is the maths scheme they will be using in Year 1. We will be using the

resources on the home learning section for Early

Years. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Click on the section: Summer Term - Week 9 (w/c 22nd

June). The maths lessons this week are all based on the book Zog

by Julia Donaldson: If you have this book then you can

give it a read before the lesson. If you don’t have a

copy of this book, then here is a link to it on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_LmS3q4E6k

There is also a scanned copy of the book on the school

website to read.

To see today’s activity, click on Day 1.

Children will be creating their own rainbow pattern and spotting different patterns using positional language.

Additional activities to try:Rainbow song

Addition skillsToday, children will be

counting how many stars Zog has and adding more. Just like last week, children can use a tens frame to help them. If

you would like to use objects to help children with their

counting (e.g. counters, lego etc.), you can also draw a

tens frame on a piece of paper to place the objects on.

Children will also be making their own rosette award for themselves or for somebody else. Make sure to send us pictures of the rosettes you make and explain what you

could have got it for!

Additional activities to try:

If you could fly like Zog, where would you go? Create a

map of the different places you would visit (e.g. the park, school, grandparents’ house etc.). Make sure to send us a

Subtraction skills. Children will be using tens

frames to support their subtraction today. If using

objects on a tens frame, you can show subtraction by

taking away the objects as the dragons fly away. If

printing the tens frame/drawing dots in a tens

frame, you can cross out a dot as the dragon flies away.

Additional activities to try:

Today, children need to think of different rules that dragons must follow. Children will also be creating their own dragon dance! Can they teach this

dance to others?

Additional activities to try:

There are lots of differences between dragon school and

the school that we go to. Dragons learn how to fly, how to roar, breathe fire and more. Do we learn these in school?

What kind of things do we learn?

Can children pick a different creature or animal and think about what things they might

learn about in school (e.g. unicorns, dinosaurs, elephants

etc.) Children can make a poster, write a story or create

a timetable explaining the different lessons that their creatures will do at school.

Make sure to send us a picture by email of what you

create!

Click on the section: Summer Term - Week 9 (w/c 22nd

June).To see today’s activity, click

on Day 5.

Today, children will follow the time themselves flying like a

dragon to see how long it takes them in different places.

Can children estimate with will be the fastest time and

which area will take the longest?

If possible, children will also be following the recipe to

create gingerbread people. Make sure to use weighing and measuring language

throughout to support children.

Additional activities to try:

Listen to the story ‘tell me a dragon’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAdG102siOU

Can children create their own dragon? What would it look like? How big would it be?

Where would it live? Children will draw a picture of

their dragon and write sentences to describe them. Look at the dragons in the

story as well as other pictures of dragons to help decide

what yours will look like. Make sure to send us a picture of it!
