CC MESSAGEHey AIESEC!

This is the very first shot of what LATIN AMERICAN CONFERENCE will be. More than 300 young leaders gathered during a whole week working to create the re-gional strategy for AIESEC 2020.

21 countries represented by the youth: the first AIESEC 2020 generation that will use engage and develop every young person in Latin America through concrete actions. Because we know that we can think about a thousand solutions but we need to ACT.

colombiaLocated in South America between the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, it hosts 48 million people and close to 10% of the world’s biodiversity, making it the second most bio-diverse country in the world.

Colombia is known for its natural lands, coffee, food and music, but mostly for the friendship and kindness of its people.

The capital, Bogota, is the main city of the country and the third biggest city of South America. It holds around 7 million people and it is the administrative, economic, and touristic center of the country. Colombia is: passion, diversity, development, joy, folk, magic, happiness, warmth and love.

vILLAVICENCIOThe Llanos (flats) region is the heart of the cattle industry in Colom-bia, so you can imagine that Villavicencio has a culture of cowboys

and tough activities. Here, in the capital of the Meta department, the mountains from the Oriental range give way to the 'Llanos Orientales'.

'Villavo' welcomes you with its typical dance, the Joropo. 3 hours away from Bogota by car, this hot and calm little city contrasts with the giant and cold Bogota, being just a couple hours away, showing

Colombia's diversity in climate floors.

The Llanos offer a lot of ecoturism. Caño Cristales, or as you may have heard “the world’s most beautiful river” is only one of the many

nature attractions you may find in this zone of Colombia.

This is the price every delegate must pay and that in-cludes all the accomodation and food during the conference.

Each MC is in charge of paying the total amount of all the individual fees of the delegates of their country to the CC

via international transaction (deadline March 31). That means you must pay your fee to your MC and then each MC will pay the total amount of the whole

delegation to the CC. The international transaction tax/fare must be covered by the MC.

Colombians: you must pay the fee via transaction to the same account. The change fare, taken as of February 19, is of 3.356,78 COP per USD. Therefore, the fee in Colombian pesos is of 1’174.873.

It is limit-ed and therefore you may have to pay a hostal for your stay if you arrive before the conference starts. Study Tours will be the 2 days before the conference.

venuesThe first day of the conference will be Youth Speak in Bogotá. This will be at a confer-ence centre called Corferias. The biggest events in Colombia take place here!

Dress code for Youth Speak Forum: business casual.

Page 18: Final Delegates Booklet

After Youth Speak, still on day 1, we will travel to the venue where the rest of the conference will take place. At Villavicencio, a little city 3 hours away from Bogotá, the Wyndham Garden

awaits us surrounded by the landscapes of the colombian ‘Llanos’ or flats. Its 133 Kms away, but since Bogotá is in the Andes and Villavicencio is in the flats, the road is very curvy since it borders the mountains. If you’re not used to curvy trips, bring some pills against diz-

ziness!

Page 19: Final Delegates Booklet

YOUTH SPEAK TO VILLAVICENCIO LOGISTICAs you know, all day 1 (april 8) will be at Youth Speak Forum (in Bogotá) and at night we will all go to the venue in Villavicencio. However, if you arrive late on april 8 and we have already gone to Villavicencio, you have to arrive by your own means and this transport is not included in the fee. The total cost of the 3 parts of the trip should not be more than $100.000 COP ($30USD). Here is what you should do:

Depending on your country’s politics, you may have to apply the Yellow Fever vaccine.

We recommend to apply it, not because there is danger of Yellow Fever in Colombia, but be-cause airport authorities at the airport of YOUR country may ask for it when you travel back. SECURITYIs Colombia a safe place?

Little by little, people discover and fall in love with its nature, its food, its culture and its people; beauties long overshadowed by years of violence and conflict. Cities in Colombia are receiving, year by year, more and more foreigners. Eventhough you can find domestic crime and unsafe zones, they have no major difference to any other latinamerican cities.

Probably you have seen images of drug trafficking and war-like violence in series and novelas. Is it real? Yes, it was a cruel reality some years ago. Nowadays, the overall environment is much better and a peace treaty with the armed groups is on its way. Tourism in cities and in rural areas is completely safe. The history of Colombia is living a breaking point with the possible end of a 50 year-long internal conflict and AIESEC in Colombia is being a protagonist of this story. Come live the rebirth of a country!
