First Aid Case What We Can Do Never stack the pipes without wedges (wooden stoppers) and barricade the area. (E.g. excavated area, pipe lines, wooden pieces, lifting activity area etc.) Conduct the safety talk before starting of activity. Specially discuss the area hazards. Always use recommended PPE’s, Safety shoes, Goggle, helmet and coverall. Never sit and sleep near the pipe lines and never ever climb on the stacked pipes. Never come under the suspended load during loading and unloading activity. Like pipes unloading. Don’t allow any unauthorized persons at work areas, especially drivers. All activity should be done under the Supervision, don’t work without supervisor. Barricade the areas. Take cold water during sunny days. Don’t hesitate to inform safety supervisor if you are not feeling good or found something wrong. LEARNING EVENT What Happened At about 1030 AM, Mar 5, 08, during lifting activity at PVC 2 lay down area .one worker climbed on the stacked pipes near the unloading area, due to this two pipes rolled and fell down, near by person wanted to safe his self, but his left foot came under the heavy pipe, safety shoes saved him from major injury, minor injury occurred and first aid given in CNCEC clinic, later he resumed his duty. Heavy Pipe which was fell down. Major Injury saved by safety Safety shoes bear the heavy load, almost 500 kg and saved the person from major injury and made a learning event for every body to wear safety shoes at work sites.
