THE MAKING OF ME

Thomas Edison oncesaid, “I did not havemy mother long, butshe cast over me aninfluence which haslasted all my life. Thegood effects of herearly training I cannever lose. If it had notbeen for herappreciation and herfaith in me at a criticaltime in my experience,I should never likelyhave become aninventor. I was alwaysa careless boy, andwith a mother ofdifferent mental caliber,I should have turnedout badly. But herfirmness, hersweetness, hergoodness, were potentpowers to keep me inthe right path. Mymother was the makingof me. The memory ofher will always be ablessing to me.”

An Evening with full of Praises

How can we sing a joyful praises amidst this time ofeconomic depression? Psalmist also recorded that "Howcan we sing the Lord's song in the strange land?" (Psalm137:4). But we have answer for these questions. One of apraise songs our praise team have sung over and overagain was, "How can I keep from singing your praise...how can I ever say enough... how amazing is your love...how can I keep from shouting your name..."

Singing praises comes from our hearts, not depends onthe circumstances around us. Come and sing, shout, dance, and praise with our two special praise teams andmusicians this Saturday, June 13, 2009, 6:00-7:30 pm atour Church.

THE YEAR OF OX

Precious donation for new churchbuilding

(Sharing a very touching story about a little girl'sdonation of 57 Cents for the church buildingtransformed entirely. Hope you will be inspired) 57 Cents: A sobbing little girl stood near a small churchfrom which she had been turned away because it 'wastoo crowded'. "I can't go to Sunday School," shesobbed to the pastor as he walked by. Seeing hershabby, appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found aplace for her in the Sunday School class. The child was so touched that she went to bed that nightthinking of the children who have no place to worshipJesus. Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of thepoor tenement buildings and the parents called for thekind-hearted pastor, who had befriended their daughter,to handle the final arrangements. As her poor little bodywas being moved, a worn and crumpled purse wasfound which seemed to have been rummaged fromsome trash dump. Inside was found 57 cents and a notescribble in childish handwriting which read, "This is tohelp build the little church bigger so more children cango to Sunday school."For two years she had saved for this offering of love. When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knewinstantly what he would do. Carrying this note and thecracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the storyof her unselfish love and devotion. He challenged hisdeacons to get busy and raise enough money for thelarger building. But the story does not end there!A newspaper learned of the story and published it. Itwas read by a realtor who offered them a parcel of land

worth many thousands. When told that the church couldnot pay so much, he offered it for a 57 cent payment.Church members made large subscriptions. Checkscame from far and wide. Within five years the little girl'sgift had increased to $250,000.00 - a huge sum for thattime (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends. When youare in the city of Philadelphia, look up Temple BaptistChurch, with a seating capacity of 3,300, and TempleUniversity, where hundreds of students are trained.Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital andat a Sunday School building which houses hundreds ofSunday scholars, so that no child in the area will everneed to be left outside at Sunday school time.In one of the rooms of this building may be seen thepicture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents,so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history.Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr.Russel H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres ofDiamonds." Author unknownPosted by Pas tor Lat t Yishey Labels : New Building

Praise the Lord and give thanks to Almighty God for Hehas given each and everyone a "loving mother." We allhave rich experiences about sacrificial love of our mothers.

God commanded us to honor and obey our parents inorder to receive blessings and long lives. "Honor thy fatherand thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the landwhich the Lord thy God giveth thee." (Exodus 20:12)

Come to church this Sunday to worship God throughMother's day celebration.
