Words for Baby“Baby, did you know that Jesus is God’sSon? He gave his only Son, baby Jesus, tous and Jesus wants to be your friendforever!”

Pre-K

Hello, First Look Friends! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Ijust love December! The sights, the sounds, thesmells (my favorite)—all these things fill the daysas we count down to the MOST important day ofDecember, the day we celebrate Jesus. That’s theplan for our preschoolers this month. We’re going to count down toChristmas with them as they learn the different parts of the Christmas story.First, they will hear how the angel came to tell Mary that she was going tohave a special baby. The next week, Mary and Joseph will travel toBethlehem, and a special baby is born! During week three, the children willpretend they are shepherds as they hear how the angels came to tell theshepherds in the field that Baby Jesus had been born. Then, it’s ChristmasDay!!! That’s right, Christmas Day is a Sunday this year. We will review theChristmas story and have a birthday party for Jesus. It’s going to be somuch fun! Our preschoolers need help, tons and tons of help. And, we wantthem to grow up with eyes that see the people who help them, and a heartthat says thanks. That’s the goal this month. God’s way is perfect! God’sway is right! God’s way is awesome! And, God will show us the way.

Grades K-8thWe finish up the month in Luke 2:8-20.God wanted to announce to the world that

His son Jesus was born and He chose to dothat through some shepherds. Now,shepherds were not that important, theyweren’t famous, and they weren’t royalty. It was as if God was saying, “You can havejoy because the gift of Jesus is foreveryone—regardless of who you are.”Bottom Line: I can have joy because God’s story is for everyone. The birth of Jesus was good news for every person of every socialclass and nationality, regardless of their mess, regardless of theircircumstances, regardless of their status. We want all kids to knowthat Jesus came for them!

tradition to watch it on Christmas day in order todecompress from a month of endless activities. Themovie is really a parody about the false expectationsthat we build up around the traditional familyChristmas experience. Most of us can identify withthe character Clark Griswold, who does everythingwithin his control to give his family the gift of a perfect Christmas. The moviebegins with Clark taking his family into the wilderness in search of the perfectChristmas tree. After a road rage incident, which ends with the family stationwagon crashing into a snow bank, the Griswolds set off into the wilderness onfoot. After a lengthy march in the snow, Clark finds the perfect tree, only torealize that he forgot to bring a saw. From wrestling with strands of Christmaslights that won't work to suffering with extended visits from abrasive relatives, theGriswolds continue to face experiences that would prompt most of us to say,"Expect the unexpected,” and “We’ve been down that road." Unfortunately, it’salways a challenge to keep the reason for the season front and center, especiallywhen the unplanned happens. Christmas may have brought the unexpected toyour life this year. But even in the midst of the unexpected, God shows up.Sickness, death, divorce, unemployment. Life gets messy, but in the midst of yourmess, God shows up! No matter what you are struggling to overcome, no matterwhat life issues have come your way, God promises to show up. Christmas isGod's vivid reminder that amid the uncertainty, God shows up to bring you peace, purpose, joy, hope, and wholeness. Hope to see each of you this Christmas Eve aswe worship the God who is with us - Immanuel, Leonard
