Dear Friends,
How are you holding up these days? I
hope you are monitoring yourself, your family
members and all those you hold dear to you.
In order to do this it is important that you
share how you are feeling with someone you
trust and will not be in judgement of you.
This also may be a time when someone asks,
“How are doing?”, they might be looking
further beyond the standard, “I’m ok, you?”
answer. That person may be the one person
God has placed in your life, at that moment,
to be God’s own presence to you. God does
provide all that we are and all that we need,
we are asked to act upon it when it happens.
While the pandemic has placed much of
our lives on hold, as it were, I see that life still
goes on all around us. Being isolated is
difficult for anyone. I ask that you especially
remember those who have lost loved ones in
these past few weeks. Since July 1, there have
been 10 funerals in our parish family, plus 2
graveside or funeral parlor services. One of
the most difficult aspects of these events are
the accommodations that must be made
because of the Coronavirus. It jars the
human spirit and the human psyche when we
cannot greet each other with a comforting hug
or kiss, and yet, we still are able, as St. Paul
proclaims, “to comfort one another with
assurances of faith until we meet our loved
one in the kingdom of Heaven.”
We are living in a time when it is
necessary to make great sacrifices of our own
comfort to assist others in their time of
difficulty. If we do not make these kinds of
sacrifices, then we have truly missed the point
of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross. He never said
he was too busy or he had some place else to
go, as we hear in today’s gospel. When you
accept the invitation from God to serve in the
Kingdom here on earth, imagine, if you are
able, what it will be like in the Kingdom of
Heaven for eternity.
Peace, Fr. Michael
P.S. Thank you, Jeannita!

SUMMER OUTDOOR EVENTS
Thank you to all who participated in our summer events. We had a wonderful
time gathering as church community, catching up with each other’s lives,
sharing the Good News, prayers, and our faith in our loving God. A huge thank
you to all those who helped set up and breakdown each day, and to all our
catechists and middle school and high school students who helped share the
message of the never ending Love and Mercy of our Lord Jesus - helping us all to
stay connected as a community of Jesus' disciples.
