    Saint Jude Catholic Church

    Mission Statement

The Catholic Community of St. Jude is formed in faith in Jesus Christ. We seek to grow in our faith through the

proclamation of God's Word and the celebration of the Sacraments. We are dedicated to love and care for all God's

people in their physical and spiritual needs. The stewardship of our time, talent and treasure is conducted in a way that shows

our gratitude to God for His blessings.

  • St. Jude Parish a Stewardship Community PASTOR’S POTPOURRI ADVENT – THE

COMING OF THE LORD It’s a new church year. We hear now from the Gospel of Mark for the coming year. We bless and light the Advent wreathe. The vestments are purple…a time of prepara-tion. It is time for us to begin again reflecting on the life and ministry of Jesus. There are three comings we cele-brate… the past when Jesus came the first time and was born of Mary… the present when he comes in word and sacrament as we celebrate the scriptures and receive the Eucharist… the future, when he will come again in glory as he promised. We are called to be alert, to be watchful for his coming so that we do not miss it. We are not just get-ting ready for Christmas. We are using this time to draw close to the Lord and look even to his coming in glo-ry. Christmas will commemorate the first coming of the Lord and remind us of how blessed we are in being believ-ers. May the Lord bless you in your preparation and in the joy of this season.

    —Fr. Bob
