This month’s Five Girl, Deja Turner, is a 22- year- old dynamo. She is smart but never a show off and is the queen of balance. She is honest and responsible and goes through life with the utmost dignity and confidence.

how do you balance school, family and social life?I must admit it is very easy to get caught up in school and work. When school gets really crazy, like around midterms and final exams, all my friends are usually in the same boat. Therefore, we have homework parties. It’s a great way to make studying less dreadful and it also helps you keep up with what’s going on in my friend’s lives. I also always try to devote one night of every week-end to hanging out with my friends. As for my family, I call my siblings weekly and my mom daily. Even if the phone call is just a quick “good morning” or “have a good day,” simply hearing her voice helps me stay connected to her. I am lucky to have a very supportive family. so if I have a big event at school taking place they will

always come visit.

how do you de-stress?I read, take a bath, do my nails or watch “Family Guy” (because it makes me laugh). Sometimes, however, I just sleep.

how do you keep up with fashion trends while on a budget?I usually try to stay away from trends all together. That will save you money right there because you won’t have the constant need to buy new clothes.

My style is a minimalist and eclectic mix so I usually buy items that fall into those two categories. It’s important to purchase fairly basic and classic pieces so that you can wear them for a long time. Also, I am always buying new jewelry because it’s an easy and inexpensive way to spice up my wardrobe.

do you have any tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle while in college?Because heath food is so expensive, I can only do so much when it comes to living and eating healthy. However, no matter what the meal is I always try to have greenery. I eat a lot of kale, spinach, and green- leaf lettuce. For snacks I try to only eat fruit, rice cakes or pretzels. I like candy so if I want something sweet I eat Nutella. Gojee.com is a great place to find quick and healthy meals. I drink a lot of water and Naked Juice. No matter what though I always manage to work McDonald’s french fries into my diet (at least once every two weeks). Every girl deserves to splurge once in a while! Making food in bulk is another way to maintain a healthy diet. For instance if I make pasta or snap peas, I make enough for two days. Doing this really helps me stay away from fast food.

Go into any college-girl’s dorm room and you are bound to find a poster, calendar, or book with Audrey Hepburn’s face plastered all over it. Girls idolize her style, demeanor and humble reputation, but Audrey wasn’t always the actress we know today.

Audrey was actually born Audrey Kathleen Ruston in Brussels, Belgium as an only child. Her father later appended the name Hepburn to his surname, and Audrey’s surname became Hepburn-Ruston. Unfortunately Audrey was living with her mother in Arnhem, Netherlands when the German invasion and occupation of World War II occurred. The impact of these times would shape her life and values forever.

After the war, Audrey and her mother moved to London, where she studied ballet, worked as a model, and in 1951, began acting in films. She acted mostly in minor or supporting roles as Audrey Hepburn. She got into acting mainly to make money so that her mother would not have to work menial jobs in order to support them.

Whether it was Audrey’s plan or not, it didn’t take long before she was starring in roles

opposite Gregory Peck and Humphrey Bogart. In 1953 Audrey won her first Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Roman Holiday.

After years of starring in famous films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair Lady, and Charade Audrey began to slow down in 1967. Audrey’s last starring role was in the modern comedy titled They All Laughed. It was a small, hip and breezy picture starring Ben Gazzara.

Soon after Audrey’s final film role, she was appointed a special ambassador to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Grateful for her own good fortune after being a victim of the Nazi occupation as a child, she dedicated the remainder of her life to helping impoverished children in the world’s poorest nations.

Audrey is a true example of a woman who is beautiful both inside and out. She is one of the few actresses in history who has been able to maintain such a flawless reputation. She should be applauded and always remembered for her many great accomplishments.
