FOCUS GROUP RESEARCH
For my focus group research I made a questionnaire and gave it to 20 people of 17 years old to discover
what they like/dislike about magazines, and whether or not they read regional magazines. Here is a sample of
the surveys that I sent out:
CONCLUSION• 90% of people I asked said they didn’t read regional magazines, only 10%
said they did.• 50% of people said they didn’t read magazines whereas the other 50% said
they did. They read OK!, Closer, Heat and The Week.• The people that do read magazines mostly said they read them occasionally,
every few weeks.• The survey also shows that visually people like to see more pictures than
text, with bright colours and interesting headlines.• 60% of my audience said that the price of magazines were quite expensive
whereas 40% of them said they were generally reasonable.• Lastly, in their opinion the visual aesthetic of a magazine makes it more
successful than the content as it catches peoples attention and makes them buy it. However people did argue that content is equally important when wanting to keep an audience.
