As the holidays wrap up, it’s time to start preparing for the upcoming year, and it looks like 2020 is going to be retail’s busiest one yet!
We will be introducing several important initiatives such as the new Retail Point Of Sale (RPOS), a fresh approach to how coins are distributed to the network (see page 2), and new sales contests with new prizes (see page 4).

Sales Focus January 6 to February 292020 Royal Canadian Mint coin gift sets
Encourage your team to work together to promote the following four 2020 Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) coin gift sets and increase your chances of winning some of the new prizes in this year’s three contests. See pages 3 and 4 for details.
New! Coin Allocation Strategy Starting in January, we are piloting a new approach to how Royal Canadian Mint coins and gift sets are distributed within the retail network. The pilot will see the majority of products distributed to post offices through a centralized monthly allocation model. A select number of products, specifically gift sets, will still be available for ordering from the SAP Retail Store.
This change will provide a better customer experience by ensuring we have the right mix and quantity of coins in post offices where coin customer shop most frequently and enough Direct Ship inventory for all post offices. Refer to your All About Coins information kit shipped earlier this month to find out if you will receive an automatic coin allocation, including the four gift sets featured as the Sales Focus.

• Post offices receiving an automatic allocation will receive an initial shipment of the four gift sets as part of their January product shipment, the first week of January. Please do not order additional gift sets until after you receive your allocation.
• Post offices not receiving an allocation and who have a market for these products will need to order the gift sets ahead of January 6.
• All post offices will be able to order more gift sets after their initial allocation or order from the SAP Retail Store to meet customer demand throughout the year.
• These gift sets and all coin products will be available for sale through Direct Ship!
Reporting and targets• Sales will be tracked against a target in the Sales Focus
screen in RPS.
• The targets for post offices receiving an automatic coin allocation are based on a 2% increase over sales from the same period in 2019.
• Post offices not receiving the automatic coin allocation will receive a reduced sales target this year.
MerchandisingThe RCM gift sets should be merchandised in the acrylic slatwall merchandiser in your Collectible planogram (P314, P308 and P315). If you don’t have a gift set merchandiser, you can order one with the sign insert from the SAP Retail Store (see article numbers next to image). The products may also be displayed in the coin tower or showcase.
Price labels for the new gift sets will be distributed to select post offices receiving the product allocation. For post offices ordering the products, you will need to print the price labels by going on Post Office Information center, under Merchandising > Guide, Planograms and Price Labels > P300 Collectibles planograms under Coin gift sets.

Grand Prize draws (NEW PRIZES!)
Draw oneIf your post office reaches 3 or 4 campaign targets, it will be entered into a draw to win: • One Apple watch, Apple airpod (wireless earphones) or Kobo Reader
for each eligible employee in the winning corporate post offices. Prizes will be supplemented with Visa gift cards in the instance that chosen prizes have a different monetary value.; or
• $750 in Visa gift cards for the winning authorized dealer post offices.
Draw twoIf your post office reaches all 5 campaign targets, it will be entered into a draw to win:
• One Apple iPad for each eligible employee in the winning corporate post office; or
• $1000 in Visa gift cards for the winning authorized dealer post offices.
Keep track of how your post office is doing by checking the Sales Focus screen on your RPS to see how many campaign targets your post office has achieved.
Rules and regulations Post office eligibility for the grand prize draws is based on the number of campaign targets achieved in RPS. For Draw one, post offices reaching three targets in RPS will be entered into the draw once and post offices reaching four targets will be entered into the draw twice. For Draw two, post offices reaching all five targets in RPS will be entered into the draw once. Only RPS post offices with a sales target are eligible to participate.
Corporate RPS post officesEligible corporate employees must be currently employed, active full-time, part-time or temporary employees and have worked a minimum of six months during the qualifying year at the retail counter. New post offices must have been operational for a minimum of six months to be eligible. Prizes will be given to the Retail Business Manager or Local Area Superintendent to present to the eligible employees at the winning post office. Should one or both of these representatives be unable to visit a winning post office in person, prizes will be mailed directly to the winning post office.

The rat is the first of the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac and the twelfth and final set of stamps in Canada Post’s Lunar New Year series.
