Foreign applicants whose parents are both citizens of countries other than Republic of Korea and
who meet the following requirements:
※ Overseas Chinese applicants with one parent of Chinese or Taiwanese nationality are eligible to apply.
○ Academic Requirements: Applicants must be high school graduates or be expected to graduate
high school before the end of February 2017.
※Graduates (or graduates to be) of vocational high schools in Korea or in foreign countries are
not eligible to apply.

1) TOPIK Level 2 or above
※An admitted students without TOPIK score or even with TOPIK Level 2 or lower
must complete a Korean Language course of 250 hours offered by Yeungnam
University in the 1st academic year.
※If an admitted student with TOPIK Level 2 achieves Level 3 before the 2nd
semester
in the first academic year, 120-class hours of a Korean Language course will be
deemed to have been achieved out of 250 hours of required Korean Language
course.
※The 250 hours of required Korean Language course include class hours of International Basic
Curriculum in the School of International Studies.

■ Important Notes for Documents
1) All submitted documents should be original copies and photo copies are only allowed
extenuating circumstances. If an applicant acquires admission through copied documents, he/she
must submit the originals to Yeungnam University by the end of the final registration period.
2) If original documents are in foreign languages besides English, applicants should submit the
documents with their notarized translation in Korean (or in English). (E.g. High School Graduation
Certificate (or expected graduation certificate), transcript, family registration, finance verification
(certificate of employment or certificate of income)
3) If documents are translated in Korean (or in English) by an organization other than the
document issuing authority or a translation agency, a certificate of translation should be
submitted. (Refer to Form 4 from Korean Immigration Office.)
4) For Chinese applicants: The full marks of subjects and the field (Liberal Arts or Natural Sciences)
should be stated in high school transcript.

5) The admission committee may request additional documents for admission review.
6) All submitted documents should be officially issued within 6 months of the date of application.
7) If the admission is based on a falsification of the application or a false or forged documents
(including their translation), admission shall be revoked.

1) Application Fee Refund:
- The applicant may choose either one of the following methods to obtain a refund:
a) Refund to the applicant’s bank account, as provided on the application form
b) Visit Yeungnam University in person
- If the applicants choose the first refund option, Yeungnam University will transfer the application fee
less any charges incurred from using the bank system. If the bank system charges are more than the
application fee, there will be no refund.
2) Other Important Notes:
- All documents are required to be written and submitted in Korean or English. Applicants should
submit documents in languages other than Korean or English with their notarized translations into
Korean or English.
- If any required documents are found to be falsified or counterfeited, the admission will be revoked.
- If the applicant’s name differs on any of the submitted documents, a proof of identity issued by an
applicant’s native-country legislative agency must be submitted.
- Applicants must inform the International Student Services Office if their contact information changes
during the admission process.
3) Any missing documents must be submitted no later than the application deadline. If
applicants fail to submit the required documents within the designated period, their
admission will be revoked..
4) Once final registration at the university has been completed, admitted students cannot apply
for other departments or other universities.
5) Other matters which are not expressly started under the admission guidelines are to be
settled by the Admission Committee of the International Students at Yeungnam University.

- International students admitted as freshmen must complete ‘the 1st Year Basic Curriculum for
International Students’.
- Curriculum information: Korean language courses, Korean culture and society related courses
and other common required general education courses (39 credits in total)
※ Students who completed a 12-year education (from elementary to high school) in Korea will be
exempted from ‘the 1st Year Basic Curriculum for International Students’
- International students of Yeungnam University must sign up for insurance.
- Insurance information is scheduled to be shared during the orientation after enrollment.
- Members of National Health Insurance and other insurances must submit the proof of the
insurance to International Student Services Office during orientation.
- Insurance Cost: approximately KRW 150,000 KRW per year
- Students without insurance will have disadvantages during course registration.
- Detailed information will be provided during the orientation.
■ Certification of Admission will be issued after the tuition payment has been confirmed.
■ VISA Issuance for Students Overseas
- The following documents will be sent to the admitted students: Certificate of admission,
university registration certificate, certificate of tuition payment, etc.
- VISA: Students must apply for a visa by submitting documents from Yeungnam University as well
as others requested by the Korean Embassy.
- Each Korean Embassy may request different documents for issuing a VISA. Contact your local
Korean Embassy or consulate before applying for a VISA.

Note for Apostille
■ Apostille Convention
1) The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public
Documents is an international treaty drafted by the Hague Conference on Private International
Law and has been effective in Korea since July 7, 2014..
2) It specifies the modalities through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries
can be certified for legal purposes in all the other signatory states.
3) Such a certification that is called an apostille is an international certification comparable to a
notarization in domestic law, and normally supplements a local notarization of the document.

■ Apostille Issue Process
1) To be eligible for an apostille, a document must first be issued or certified by an officer
recognized by the proper authority.
2) Identify the authorized organization in your home country that is eligible for apostilles.
3) Documents from private sectors should be notarized first before applying to be apostilled.
4) International students from a member state of the Apostille Convention staying in Korea as of
the application period with required documents for applying for an apostille can visit the
Diplomatic Service in Seoul to apply.
