The Average Man That maprnificent creature, the Aver- age Man, who fondly fancies that he rules the world, is content, as a rule, to run along under half steam —to use just as much brain as is necessary to earn his bread and butter. In other words, he is as lazy as he dares to be. Wheh other men pass him in the race for wealth or influence he expresses horrified astonishment. He has been told that all men are created free and equal. Therefore he is at a loss to un- derstand why they should not all prog- ress at exactly the same pace. If he would take the trouble to study the reason for his lack of success he would learn: First—That while minds differ in quality, undoubtedly they also differ in quantity Second—That the quanity of mind— of brain power —is capable of vast increase —by use. Third—That the quality of mind is capable of improvement. Fourth—That the human mind, like he human body, grows with intelligent exercise an 1 shrivels with the lack of exercise. Fifth—That men with big brains got big brains by using all they had and using them all the time. A common- place brain usedawith industry and ntelligence will bring better results than a finain half used.—Boston American, FOR SALE One three room Cottage on Lee St. One three room Cottage on 3rd' St. PRICES AND TERMS TO SUIT Mebane Land & Improvement Co.
