Praised be Jesus Christ!

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY Today is the Second Sunday of Easter, celebrated as the Feast of Divine Mercy. In Poland, this day has been celebrated officially since 1995 at the request of Polish bishops; however, the feast was made official for the whole Church by Pope John Paul II on April 30th 2000, the day St. Faustina Kowalska was canonized. It is important to remember that the feast was established at the clear request of Jesus himself, directed through St. Faustina. Jesus joined an extraordinary grace with the Feast of Divine Mercy. Jesus said to her: I desire that the first Sunday after

Easter be the Feast of Divine Mercy (Diary of Sister Faustina, 299). I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all the souls, especially for poor sinners. On that day My inner love is opened, and I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who are approaching the source of My mercy. The soul that goes to confession and receives Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On this day all divine floodgates are opened, through which God’s graces flow (Diary 699).

The greatest promise of the Lord Jesus is the grace of “complete forgiveness of sins and punishment” associated with Holy Communion received on that day after a good confession (without attachment to the smallest sin) in the spirit of devotion to the Divine Mercy, which means putting all of your faith in God and having love for those who are close.

CCD - RELIGIOUS EDUCATION MONDAY - GRADES 1-10 - 5:30-6:30 pm in St. Mary’s School. This is the last class of our CCD program for this

Please join us on Thursday, May 2nd, for a special time of prayer for our priests, deacons and seminarians. We will begin with Mass at 6:30pm in English, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. We will pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Reparation for Priests along with other prayers as well as have time for silent, personal prayer. A priest will be available for the Sacrament of Confession during that time. Our evening will end at 8:00pm with Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION "The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven, and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth."

- Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta Our parish is offering the opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration on the first Friday of each month from 3:00 - 6:00pm. Please consider spending some time in prayer in front of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. A sign-up sheet is available on the table in the entryway to church. It is important to make sure that each hour is covered as we can never leave our Lord unattended. The next opportunity will be this Friday, May 3rd.

FIRST SATURDAY Beginning with May we will start First Saturday Devotion, after 7:00 AM Mass. There will be the Rosary with meditations and opportunity for confessions. Our Lady of Fatima Promises all the Graces Necessary for Heaven if a Catholic Finishes the Five First Saturdays Devotion. During her July 1917 apparition at Fatima, Our Lady said to Lucia, “I shall come to ask... that on the First Saturday of every month, Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world.” Although she made no further mention of this devotion at Fatima, on December 10, 1925, our Blessed Mother again appeared to Lucia at Pentevedra, Spain, where the seer had been sent to the Dorothean Sisters to learn to read and write. It was there Our Lady completed her request for the Five First Saturdays and gave her great promise. The elements of this devotion, consist in the following four points, all of which must be offered in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. • Confession: This confession can be made before the First

Saturday or afterward, provided that Holy Communion be received in the state of grace

• Holy Communion • Rosary • 15-minute meditation on one or more mysteries To those who faithfully follow Our Lady’s requests for the Five First Saturdays, she has made a wonderful promise: “I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation.” This means that our Blessed Mother will be present at the hour of death with the actual grace of final perseverance.

THE POLISH-AMERICAN VETERANS OF WWII Wor-cester Post, will be giving a $500 higher education scholarship to two graduating seniors who are of Polish decent with prefe-rence to the relative of a deceased or present PAV member. SUNDAY EVENING MASS SUSPENTION

Beginning with Memorial Day Weekend, May 26, we will suspend the Sunday Evening Mass at 5:00 PM until further notice. During Summer time our priests will be taking some vacation time and visiting their families in Poland. We under-stand that this may be a hardship for some, but we hope you will be able to attend Saturday vigil or one of Sunday’s morn-ing Mass instead. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

JOHN PAUL II FOUNDATION

Saturday, May 18, 2019 is the 99th anniversary of St. John Paul II’s birthday. To commemorate this important date in the life of Polonia, a Solemn Mass in Polish will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at St. Joseph Basilica, Webster, MA by his Eminence Cardinal Ryłko of Rome, Chairman of the John Paul II Foundation. Following the Mass, lunch will be served for those traveling from outside the area. After the 4:00 p.m. Stearns Vespers, a banquet will be held at the new parish center for all members and friends of the JP II Foundation of New England, including representatives of vari-ous Chapters from the United States and Canada. This event is being sponsored by the JP II Foundation of New England. NIEDZIELA MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO

Dzisiaj jest Druga Niedziela Wielka-nocna, obchodzona jako Święto Miło-sierdzia Bożego. W Polsce święto to było obchodzone oficjalnie od 1995 roku na prośbę biskupów polskich, natomiast dla całego Kościoła zostało zatwierdzone przez papieża Jana Pawła II dnia 30 kwietnia 2000 roku, w dniu kanonizacji św. siostry Faustyny Kowalskiej. Trzeba pamiętać, że święto to zostało ustanowione na wyraźną prośbę same-go Jezusa skierowaną za pośrednictwem s. Faustyny. Ze świętem Miłosierdzia Pan Jezus związał niezwykłe łaski. Pan

Jezus powiedział do niej: Pragnę, ażeby pierwsza niedziela po Wielkanocy była świętem Miłosierdzia (Dz. 299). Pragnę, aby święto Miłosierdzia, było ucieczką i schronieniem dla wszyst-kich dusz, a szczególnie dla biednych grzeszników. W dniu tym

otwarte są wnętrzności miłosierdzia Mego, wylewam całe mo-rze łask na dusze, które się zbliżą do źró-dła miłosierdzia Mojego. Która dusza przystąpi do spowiedzi i Komunii świętej, dostąpi zupełnego odpuszczenia win i kar. W dniu tym otwarte są wszystkie upusty Boże, przez które płyną łaski (Dz. 699). Największą obietnicą Pana Jezusa jest łaska „zupełnego od-

puszczenia win i kar” związana z Komunią świętą przyjętą w

tym dniu po dobrze odprawionej spowiedzi (bez przywiązania

do najmniejszego grzechu), w duchu nabożeństwa do Miłosier-

dzia Bożego, czyli w postawie ufności wobec Boga i czynnej

miłości bliźniego.

Dzisiaj o godz. 2:00 po południu zapraszamy na adorację Naj-

świętszego Sakramentu z możliwością skorzystania ze spowie-

dzi. Natomiast o godz. 3:00 będzie nabożeństwo Godziny Mi-

łosierdzia w j. angielskim i polskim. Podczas Nabożeństwa

będziemy mieli możliwość ucałowania relikwii św. Faustyny.

O godz. 4:00 będzie sprawowana Msza św. w j. angielskim

(przeniesiona z godziny 5:00 pm)

NABOŻEŃSTWA MAJOWE Maj jest jednym z tych miesięcy, w którym chcemy oddawać cześć Maryi. Dlatego po każdej wieczornej Eucharystii będzie-my się modlić Litanią Loretańską, w niedziele uczynimy to po Mszy św. o godz. 11:00.

Nabożeństwo Pierwszych Sobót ma charakter wynagradza-jący Niepokalanemu Sercu Maryi i składa się na nie: 1. Spowiedź, lub stan łaski uświęcającej 2. Komunia Święta 3. Cząstka Różańca świętego 4. 15 minut medytacji, rozważania na temat tajemnic różań-

cowych Wszystkie te praktyki muszą być odprawiane z intencją wynagrodzenia Niepokalanemu Sercu Maryi. Maryja związała z tym nabożeństwem wielką obietnicę: „Duszom, które w ten sposób starają się mi wynagradzać - mówi Matka Najświętsza - obiecuję towarzyszyć w godzinie śmierci z wszystkimi łaskami potrzebnymi do zbawienia”.

ZMIANA TAJEMNIC RÓŻAŃCOWYCH W następną niedzielę, 5 maja o godz. 10:30 będzie Różaniec i zmiana Tajemnic Różańcowych. Przypominamy, że wszyscy przyjeżdżający wcześniej do kościoła mogą parkować na parkingu Domu Pogrzebowego.

PARTNERS IN CHARITY Dziękujemy wszystkim, którzy dotychczas złożyli ofiary na Partners in Charity. Otrzymaliśmy do tej pory $25,464. Bardzo prosimy wszystkich o włączenie się w miarę swoich możliwo-ści, abyśmy mogli uzyskać na parafialny cel: $46,500. Koperty można znaleźć w ławkach albo przy wejściu do kościoła. WIECZORNA MSZA W NIEDZIELĘ Pragniemy poinformować, że wraz z Memorial Day Week-end, 26 maja, zawieszamy Mszę św. w niedzielę wieczorem do odwołania. Podjęliśmy tę decyzję mając na uwadze waka-cyjne wyjazdy księży i parafian oraz niezbyt liczną obecność wiernych. Mamy nadzieję, że ci, którzy zwykle w tej Mszy uczestniczyli, będą mogli uczestniczyć we Mszy św. w sobotę wieczorem lub w niedzielę rano.

FUNDACJA JANA PAWŁA II ZAPRASZA W Sobotę, 18 maja 2019 przypada 99 rocznica urodzin św. Jana Pawła II. Jest to ważna data w życiu Polonii. Z tej okazji, w niedzielę 19 maja o godzinie 11:00 w Bazylice św. Józefa w Webster, MA będzie sprawowana uroczysta Msza św. w j. pol-skim, której przewodniczyć będzie Jego Eminencja ks. Kar-dynał Stanisław Ryłko, przewodniczący Fundacji w Rzymie. Po Mszy św. dla przybyłych gości będzie serwowany lunch. Dear Friend,

On May 30, St. Mary’s Schools will be sponsoring the first Fr. James F. Hoey Memorial Golf

Tournament at Kettle Brook Golf Course in Paxton. While Fr. Jim joined the St. Mary’s

community after his retirement from twenty years of faithful service to Mary, Queen of the

Rosary Parish in Spencer as its pastor and over fifty years as a priest in the Diocese or

Worcester, he quickly became a beloved member of our community. He, in turn, loved us. He

had a quiet impact on everyone at St. Mary’s – students, parents, faculty and staff alike. In

addition, in his “retirement”, he served as an assistant at both Our Lady of Czestochowa and St.

John Parishes. It is our goal with this tournament to be able to take a day to remember a man

who was lovingly dedicated to his church, his faith and all those with whom he came in contact.

As he said at the graduation ceremony in 2017, “St. Mary’s has brought much happiness to an

old priest.” Proceeds from this golf tournament will directly support St. Mary’s Schools which

was dear to Fr. Jim.

You will find enclosed a registration form for the Golf Tournament and the dinner which will

follow it. If you are a golfer, join us for a great day of golf followed by dinner. If you cannot

join us for the tournament come for dinner and dedication to Fr. Jim. It will be a wonderful

opportunity to share memories of Fr. Jim while supporting a school at which he had a lasting

impact.
