Getting Ready for the Move
Multiple Choice: Narthex is Preferred Answer to Enter New Church
Life used to be so easy: we could go right through the front doors of St. Theresa and run into a crowded mini-gathering area packed with ushers, people waiting for restrooms, newcomers, and people who liked to visit before Mass. Or for many, the easy way to drop into church was by way of the side doors. As we prepare to move back into the church, a lot has changed—including the ways to enter the church. The new “true front doors” to the church are those glass doors at the entrance to the nar-thex. No longer small, dark, and crowded, the narthex is a large, well-lit gathering space and anteroom to the church proper. There are front and back doors to the narthex so that one can enter from the gym parking lot on the north side of the church or from the Haskell street parking lot to the south. From the narthex, we then all enter the church through the two sets of side doors located roughly where the old side doors were. The entrance and recessional processions for Mass will now use the side doors in and out of the narthex. The original church doors will be used by those processing out of funerals and weddings. When the new church opens on August 14, welcome home! Please come in at either one of our front doors: the narthex door under the signage that reads, “St. Theresa Catholic Church,” or the other narthex door fac-ing the gym parking lot. We bought and built this new and gracious gath-ering space; let’s use it well. Prepare to gather through our new narthex doors on August 14 and thereafter!
In anticipation of returning to the Church, we will present a series of articles to help St. Theresa Community prepare for the move into the Church.
See below for the fourth article of the series.
