The Redarc SmartStart SBI-12 is a microprocessor controlled smart battery isolator. It is designed to be used in multi battery applications as a solenoid priority system to protect the start battery from excessive discharge whilst allowing the auxillary battery to supply non-essential loads. The Redarc SmartStart monitors the start battery voltage and when this drops below 12.5 Volts the solenoid will open, separating the start battery from the auxillary battery. Once the engine has started the Redarc SmartStart monitors the start battery and the charging system. When the charging system reaches 13.2 Volts (26.4 Volts on a 24 Volt system) indicating a fully charged start battery, the Redarc SmartStart will close the solenoid connecting the auxillary battery to the start battery and the charging system. The Redarc SmartStart is ideal for installations that cannot tolerate the inherent voltage drop associated with diode battery isolators. The solenoid features silver contacts for longer life and is suitable for marine and moisture prone applications. The microprocessor control box, attached to the solenoid, has a red LED (Light Emitting Diode) that is lit when the solenoid is activated connecting the two batteries together. This occurs when the start battery is sufficiently charged. It is not uncommon for the LED to glow after the vehicle is switched off until the start battery reaches the lower voltage limit. The SmartStart should be mounted as close as possible to the start battery with the coil terminals up or horizontal. Another key feature of the Redarc SmartStart is the fact that it is battery independent, meaning that the batteries do not need to be the same type, in fact, many people use a cranking battery as the start battery, and a deep cycle battery as the secondary.

The model EBRH electric trailer brake controller works the same way as most other electric brake controllers do ,except that the separate control and led light can be mounted in a blank switch position in a dashboard , console ect keeping the under dash area clear and clutter free, especially good for people with long legs this allows the driver to vary the braking power to the trailer brakes when the vehicle brakes are applied and has the push button which, when depressed, manually applies the trailer brakes independently of the towing vehicle brakes. The led indicator will illuminate green advising the driver that the vehicle is towing a trailer which has electric brakes fitted. The led indicator will illuminate red as the vehicle brakes are applied and the led becomes stronger in it's color, the harder the brakes are activated , this unit is compatable for trailers with up to 3 axle brakes , with a variable level setting in a progressive manner.
