Forms and conventions
hitman
• Is the film I am going to be discussing to compare our film in terms of camera shots, camera angles, sound, mise-en-scene, Narrative and challenges to the genre.
Camera shots
• Extreme longshot: Both used at the beginning to introduce the location. This is similar to our film as we establish this shot to set the scene.
• Extreme close up shot: In the movie Hitman this shot is utilized when weapons such as guns and knifes are evident in the scene. We use this same camera shot in our film to put emphasize on the gun.
Camera Angles
• High Angle shot: In the movie Hitman the high angle is used to display vulnerability to the person in the shot. In comparison, our film also uses this to show weak, facile characters who are vulnerable.
• Low angle shot: In both Hitman and our film this shot is used to show dominance to the character in the frame.
Sound
• Non diagetic music: This was used in Hitman and our film to build suspense for the viewer as they can hear the music but the characters cannot.
Mise-en-scene
• Costume: Both protagonist in Hitman and Agent 17 in our film wear suits to convey their dominance in our film.
• Props: both films involve a gun as the main weapon ( pistol ).
• Space: hitman often given more space because hes sly In both films.
Narrative (plot)
• Both follow the same story a Hitmen needs to get something so they both kill people to get the object and have to complete many killings to succeed on the mission in order to get their cut of the money.
Challenges to Genre
• One challenge to the genre is the age of the hitman our hitman looks young around 18. whereas most other films in this genre have older more experienced hitmen.
• Apart from this we followed mainly the narrative of others in the genre because we wanted to make it basic and not to complex this was done by following a pattern so we had something to base it on.
