1. Introduction The Federation of Orthopaedic Trainees in Europe (FORTE), was brought to life during the EFORT Congress of 2005, in Lisbon (Portugal). Since then numerous Presidents have strived to achieve FORTE ultimate goals – improvement of orthopaedic educational standards, enabling learning opportunities and promotion of colleagues network: 2006: Marina van Rhee (NL) 2007: Marina van Rhee (NL) 2008: Dirk-Jan Hofstee (NL) 2009: Dirk-Jan Hofstee (NL) 2010: Michiel Janssen (NL) 2011: Enis Guryel (UK) 2012: Bram Hentaneer (NL) 2013: Nikolaos Paschos (GR) 2014: Gazi Huri (TR) 2015 Joao Vide (PT) I have the privilege to be the new elected President and I’m excited with the opportunities that now arise for our Federation. I really feel that we can make a difference for the future and that FORTE will keep on improving standards, long before I’m gone. At least, I’ll do my best for it. This document intends to be an introduction for all the board members that are new to our Federation, which is the majority of our current board. Almost all our previous board members are still present this year, but we had a general feeling that more manpower, with a wider representation between different countries, was needed to properly develop a functioning Federation. So we grew. I’m proud to say, that our current board includes representation from most European countries: Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom are duly represented in our board. Of course bigger is better, if organized. So our Executive Committee (ExCom) has developed a working basis (Internal Regulation #1/2015) to keep track of progress and identify areas/members with difficulty progressing with work. Everyone is welcome in our Federation, but only the ones willing to help will stay. No direct financial benefit comes from the positions you take inside the board. Benefits come from networking with different experts, residents and institutions throughout Europe and from the sense of well being that comes from making things better. That’s why friendship is a

highlighted value in FORTE constitution and that’s the least I expect from this new board – an honest and healthy friendship.
