S ince 2017, TEKNIA has been supporting the spanish foundation “Foundawtion” in the construction of a secondary

school in Thionk-Essyl, a small town in the south of Senegal. Foundawtion is the non-for-profit branch of an architectural firm located in Barcelona. This project responds to the lack of sufficient educational places in the village, which has been forcing the local youngsters either to discontinue their studies, or moving to Dakar (which is over 400 km away), leading to the subsequent talent drain in the village. The motto of this project is let´s make school. It captures the purpose to make local population participant from the project, and make this common effort contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of the whole community. With this in mind, local workers are being trained in the use of

new tools and building techniques while it is being promoted the use of local resources for the construction.Currently, the phase two – out of three - of the project is in progress. This will conclude with the finalization of the building of 4 classrooms per course – 16 in total- in addition to: a library, a changing room, the teachers’ office, and the classrooms of biology, IT, and a multipurpose space of the foundation. The last phase will focus on the interior design of the classrooms, the furniture, the courtyard, the equipment and the utility connections of the school. As agreed with local authorities, by the beginning of 2019-2020 academic year, Thionk-Essyl will count with their new secondary school, which will add 500 additional educational places to the town. In our partner´s own words, the continued support of TEKNIA to this project is being determinant for its success.

After 2 years of close collaboration TBA has finally been nominated to supply more than 16M Aluminium SC pistons to Continental’s HBS Division over the next 4 years.SOP for the first wave (VW) is planned for September 2018 and the remain (several OEMs) will ramp up as from January 2019.All 13 references were validated success-fully with Continental plants over the last six months. This booking has positioned Continental alongside Robert Bosch in terms of cus-tomer share, a very important objective set back in 2012 when turnover with Continental was residual. This milestone booking has also enabled TBA to invest in a new, state of the art grinding line as well as new CNC machinery. This success is owed to the hard work put in by every single department at Teknia Barcelona.

I t is always satisfying to communicate good news and today we do so with our Teknia Mexico City plant which has been nominated

for a project with the Korean customer MOBIS for the GM, DL3a, DN8a, BDm and GSb platforms and components:• Bleed Screw• Operating Rod• Plunger Valve

The parts are part of the Brake System for the Tucson, Crete and Santa Fe models (among others) and are scheduled for SOP in 2019.This acquisition means continuing to grow with Hyundai-Mobis and continue with the projects awarded from previous platforms. It should be noted that thanks to TMC, the TBI plant has been nominated with valve plungers for the models. We can say that this is the result of the successful collaboration between plants derived from the synergies.Congratulations once again to the team and the collaboration of TG (Mrs. Lorea Basterra) in the case of MOBIS Europe with TBI and TBA (Bleed screw).

The SOP of the Nissan H60 project took place during summer at TJA. This first Nissan project to be deliver to Argentina

will sell 70,000 vehicles/year under the brand Nissan, Renault, and Mercedes, providing TSP1 with a turnover of 4.7M € / year over the next 6 years. It is a very special project for the plant for several reasonsFirst, the project has been developed by the engineering team of Nissan Barcelona. Teknia Technologies has been a determining factor in both the recruitment and the coordination of the project between our plant and the Nissan Barcelona team. Offering multinational support has been a great advantage over our local com-petitors. In addition to Teknia Technologies, our Teknia Elorrio colleagues were a great help in the

early stages of the project, to understand both the technical feasibility of the product and the best means of manufacturing. Likewise, they did not stop supporting us when reinforcing Nissan’s confidence in our capabilities. Finally, the engineering team of TSP1 has developed its first two robotic cells, dedicated, with the necessary flexibility to produce the 11 references of the project, with complex tubes from 8mm to 35mm, both carbon steel and stainless steel. This new production concept for TSP1 is the first step towards a new product and customer strategy, which will bring great sales, profitability and stability to the company. Congratulations, and thanks to all.

Since 2011, when the story of Teknia Oradea first began, the company is continuosly growing and improving, keeping up with the city that is doing the same. The first steps of Teknia Oradea in Romania were small, but the plans were ambitious. We were among the first companies that signed the contract with the Eurobusiness Parc Oradea, and nowadays there are more than 70 compa-nies, offering more than 6000 workplaces. In April 2012 Teknia Oradea’s headcount were 9 people, in April 2018 are around 80. Each year was a stepping point for us:• October 2011 - first machined part• July 2012 – first casted part• December 2013- start production PSM2 (ED

Division)• March 2015 – start of the new building in

Eurobusiness Parc• December 2015 – start production in the new

plant

• 2016 – process release• 2017 – start production of Gearbox (AS

Division)• March 2018 – becoming part of Teknia

Automotive In all these years the city was also changing. The historical city-center has been totally re-newed, with all it’s beautiful architectural styles (baroque, art-nouveau, classical, eclectical, etc.) making it one of the most important tourist atractions from this region. Also, the thermal water and colourful slides from the newly inaugurated complex Nymphea Oradea is the best relaxing option after a working week or a city break in charm-ing Oradea. We are used with the ever changing environment of the automotive industry and glad to see how the sourandings keep-up with the changes, and evolve also. With such a past, the future looks bright!

This has been the XXIII Edition of this unique regatta that unites the cities of Getxo, Santander and

Gijón. Undoubtedly, the regatta with more repercussion of the Bay of Biscay and in which participates the professional fleet of the peninsular north and France. 35 boats were the participants on this occasion. The local media of the three cities echo the regatta, as well as media with specialized nautical sections. The first stage, with delay in the departure due to lack of wind, links Getxo with Santander. The race team completed the 40 miles in a time of 4h 50m. In the second stage, 90 miles of navigation between Santander and Getxo, is the star stage. The

strategy during night navigation usually marks the final course of the regatta. The entire fleet chose to move away from the coast in search of the desired wind. El Tartufo Teknia completed the stage in personal record time and arrived in Gijón at 6 a.m.Two windward-leeward courses in Gijón put an end to the regatta. The first round was also complicated due to the lack of wind, but in the second, on Sunday, the Tartufo Teknia marked a spectacular departure in front of the entire fleet of professional boats. Finally, we must congratulate the racing team for its SEVENTH POSITION in the general classification. A great worked in all the rounds. Congratulations!

After more than 2 years of negotiations TEKNIA BILBAO has managed to be on the supplier panel of Thyssen Bilstein

and to be nominated with the MR2 project of Daimler with 2 references that are part of the damping system. The pieces are called containment ring and sleeve. The design and coordination of suspension and shock absorbers always represent a compromise – between driving comfort, driving safety, and agility. Ultimately, the drivers of luxury sedans, SUVs, vans, sports cars or even racecars, have very different expectations of the respective chassis. These parts will be present on different Daimler platforms (S-Class, E-Class, C-Class, C-Class, GLC-Class) and electric vehicle (EVA2) with an estimated project life of up to 2031 and It will deliver circa 1.1M€ turnover yearly.Congrats to TEKNIA BILBAO and TEKNIA GERMANY teams.

The Group is pleased to announce the new Teknia’s CCO, Mr. Jorge Varela, who will report directly

to the VP of Commercial Innovation and Strategy. After a brief passage through the metal division, he was promoted on July the 1st 2018 as the new head of the Commercial Area, where he will con-tinue to add value to the Group and, in coordination with Teknia Technologies, will try to reinforce the specialization as a differentiating asset. This change also means that the commercial offices, led by Mr. Pawel Raczkowski, will be coordinated by Mr.

Varela, in order to align the different strategies of plants and divisions with our global commercial structure. Along with this, the Division’s commercial directors will be led and coordinated by Jorge along with the Division COOs, as we have been working in recent years. From my position as VP Commercial, Innovation and Strategic, I have only to wish him many successes in this new stage and expect that the coordination of Plants, Divisions and Offices under this new baton is even better than what we have achieved together to this day.

JORGE VARELA TEKNIA’S NEW CCO

From the Commercial, Strategy and Innovation Area, we are pleased to introduce the new head of the

Engineering and R&D unit of the Teknia Group, Mr. Gianluca Caretta.Of Italian origin and with extensive experience in leading companies in the automotive sector in Germany and Japan such as Continental and Delphi, he joined us on July the 3rd and brings more than 14 years of professional career in technical areas as well as development and innovation.Gianluca will be located in our facilities in Azuqueca de Henares, together

with several members of the Teknia Technologies team already there, his first step will be to get to know the current structure and its members. Later on, along with an exhaustive analysis of the recently launched Division Strategic Plans, his second step will be to reinforce the team in those areas most in need of development and/or support. We expect that this new addition to the Group will help all our plants and equipment to achieve their objectives in time and cost. Good luck in this new stage!

GIANLUCA CARETTA, CTO TEKNIA TECHNOLOGIES

2018 is definitely the take-off year of our new facilities in Tangier, Morocco. The plant opened its doors in October last year and since then it has received, thanks to the activity of the whole team, several strategic customers projects. The presence of Teknia in Morocco dates back to 2009 when the first plant was established in the Tangier Free Zone as a rental basis. Since then, sustained growth has led to the current commitment, with a new plant within the same industrial complex that incorporates resources for its growth that multiplies the potential of Teknia for this market. In addition, it incorporates a state-of-the-art plant in Morocco focused on the injection and assembly of components and set up us as a reference leader in the region. The customers that have trusted us during this year with nominations for more than 2 M€ are REYDEL, VALEO and FICOSA, all of them with final customer for the OEM, PSA, with the Kenitra plant. We trust that this supposes a definitive support to our growth in a region that is still not very mature in the industrial sector but that is becoming in a refer-ence within the African continent.
