Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
The Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, the Last Sunday of the Liturgical Year,
helps us reflect on how much we served our sisters and brothers in an attempt to make more disciples for
Jesus. It also helps us find better ways and means to do better in the New Liturgical Year beginning on the
First Sunday of Advent.
However, Jesus remains the focus as we participate in his kingly office/ministry by virtue of our baptism. In
every time and place we exercise this ministry by living a life of authentic witness. Having some knowledge
about Jesus does not give us a complete picture of the ministry. We need to know Jesus himself and become
like him.
This Jesus who came to serve and not be served, is the model of ideal kingship we are called to embrace. He
never used his power to oppress anyone, but to give his life as a ransom for many. And more than ever before,
today's Church needs more servant-leaders who animate the faithful than those who wield worldly power to
dominate; those who exercise more life-giving and soul-strengthening power than those that are destructive to
Christian communities.
The Church the Lord has invited us to build entails more than having more people baptized, devoid of the
quality of the Christian followers. It is more than structures, institutions and buildings. It is the Church that is
the Body of Jesus, with human beings as the building blocks laid on the Rock that is St. Peter.
Let us rejoice and be glad for all we did to give honor and praise to our God in the past year, ask for His
forgiveness where we went wrong and request for an abundance of blessings for the New Year.

with food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We
are asking for any donations of canned veggies,
cranberry sauce, packages of dry milk, tuna, cereal,
tomato sauce, peanut butter and jelly and of course any
