HORIZON LINE

The Horizon Line, is a product of visu-al observation. Using Haute Catour dresses as inspiration, i created a segment of a multiple unit vertical park.

I focused on the movement and materiality of these dresses. i fo-cused on the energy they ex-pressed, as well as how it would move in a natural setting.

In the end, the final product resem-bled that of a long stretch of vertical instillations. each of which relating in someway whether through material-ity, or stylistically.

SOLAR PARK Solar Park aims at creating a series of spaces with use of minimal materials.

As the sun rises and sets over the environment, each area is drasti-cally effected visually. This benefits the usage of each space, prviding the visitor with a unique experience with each visit.

HOODED HABITATThis project required a multipurpose item to be created. The goal of this multi functional item would be to design a clothing item, that could be worn in a“typical setting” and through the process of a few simple steps, become a shelter from severe weather.

I give to you, HOODED HABITAT.

13 ROSE STREET The United States of America is speckled with abandonded or forclosed homes, lowering the value of the surrounding neighborhood. So the question was, what was the best way to repurpose such a narrow slice of land?

The existing structure of 13 Rose Street was in need of serious attention. The building had fallen into a state of disrepair, and was slated for demolition in the months to follow.

Demolistion of the house would leave an empty space, giving the project a nice amount of freedom. I did not want to see the memory of the house go to waste, so i decided to maintain many of the features from the property including natural light analysis, flow of the house, and hieghts of various elements from the existing structure.

13 Rose Street would go from being an unused single family residence to a public space, thus incresing the local neighborhood value, and social interaction between residents.

The park would be a living thing. A place capable of being added or subtracted to. In some ways, a blank canvas for the people of the neighborhod.

SITE ANALYSIS

Page 9: Francis aquadro portfolio 2014

Because many of the houses on this street where either forclosed or in the pa-perwork for being dismantled, the park left breathing room to be added to. The possibility of more of these parks being built in the neighborhood would frame the existing homes which were in good standing.

The finished project included a ame-bic flowing footpath. Natural and man made instillations created func-tional seating, while vertical instilla-tions created a subconcious sence of space throughout. The verticals also worked as a fence to help de-fine what was park, and what was still considered private property for the adjacent residencies.

“Archway Alley” Florence, Italy

This selection of sketches and paintings are just a couple of the many fabricated while studying abroad in Rome Italy. Needless to say, the experi-ence itself strengthened my eye for de-tails, and my appreciation for classical works of both art, and architecture.

Some Highlights

Richard Meiers “Ara Pacis” This structure of incredible desing fea-tured attractive geometrical shapes, abold entranceway, making it the per-fect showcase for the antiquities within its walls.

Raymond Loewys DuplexFirstly, I love anything with an engine. Steam locomotives, Planes and Cars have always been a target for radical new design. I found it to be a great study

Colloseum Rome, Italy

While in Rome, i discovered my love for water painting. I had played with the style years ago as a highschool student, but never put it to any use. The Image to the left was my first drawing utilizing water-colors to give it a “wash”. I now use this technique in many of my other projects both personal and required.

To the right, is a sketch study of the famous colloseum done before the trip began in 2013.

HOUSING DESIGN

I have always had an interest in residencial design. I find every concept i imagine is a visual and phycological puzzle which i take absolute pleasure in solving.

Many of these concepts aredesigned to be small family homes utilyzing pre-fabricated elements.

CONCHThe title of this structure is not so much based on the exter-nal appearence of the house itself, but rather the flow of its simplistic interior. Around every corner of the building is a new space with a defined purpose. The further into the house you dwell, the more privacy you experience. Much like a snail shell on the beach.

The main material used in this structure is Concrete.

SURFSIDESurfside features the desireable stylistic traits of the modern family home. Pre-fabricated walls interlock to create a personaly styled space.

This structure is charecterized by its prominanthearth, first level and second level proches, as well as a practical floorplan.

RIPTIDE

This was one of the very first home designs in concept.

It features a flowing floorplan, and lage second story porch.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Capturing my World.

Ever since I discovered where my parents hid the family camera, ive had an interest in photography. My images are mementos, depicting scenes that carry alot of weight visually, or emotionally. My camera goes wherever i go, and its beaten up lens can vouch for that. From the Rocky Mountains, to the streets of Rome Italy, its easy to say my trusty camera has seen plenty of miles.

My other passion is film, and the capture of how people act in a public environment. I focus on the actions of people establishing motion, direction, and emotion in my photography. Like film, i strive to create a story within the frames of every picture taken.
