French and Indian War Review Power Point
Note to Students
• This power point is designed to help you learn the men and forts involved in the French and Indian War.
• Also, the military action during each campaign year and the Treaty of Paris of 1763.
• It is not designed to review the bodies of water. You need to study the map in your graphic organizer and on the back of your study sheet.
• You also need to take the Moodle Quiz and come to one of the review classes.
Who am I?
Benjamin Franklin
• I was a Pennsylvania delegate to the Albany Congress.
• I was also the author of the Albany Plan of Union
General Edward Braddock
• I was a British officer.• My army was
ambushed in 1755 near Ft. Duquesne.
• I was killed and my body was buried in the road so the Indians wouldn’t find it
William Pitt
• I was elected Prime Minister of England in 1757.
• I changed the direction of the war by appointing new officers and deciding to try and win the war in North America.
General James Abercrombie
• I was a British officer.• I led the unsuccessful
attack on Ft. Carillon in 1758.
• I sent my men against the wall that the Marquis de Montcalm built. We were beaten back.
Marquis de Montcalm
• I was a French officer.
• I was appointed commander of the French forces in 1756.
• I captured forts Oswego and William Henry.
• I stopped Abercrombie at Ft. Carillon but was killed at the Battle of Quebec in 1759.

• I was the British officer who captured Ft. Frontenac in 1758.
• We found out that it was an important supply fort for the French.

• I was a British colonial militia leader.
• I organized a unit of rangers who fought like the Indians.
• We were the eyes and ears of the army.

• I was the Virginia militia officer involved in the 1754 incident that started the French and Indian War.
• I was also with Gen. Braddock when he was ambushed in 1755.
General James Wolfe
• I was the British officer who helped Lord Jeffrey Amherst capture Louisbourg in 1758.
• I was killed at the Battle of Quebec in 1759.
Lord Jeffrey Amherst
• I was the British officer who helped Gen. James Wolfe capture Louisbourg in 1758.
• I captured Ft. Carillon and Ft. St. Frederic in 1759.
Lord George Howe
• I was the second in command to Gen. James Abercrombie in 1758.
• I was killed when scouting the French positions at Ft. Carillon.
General John Forbes
• I was the British officer who captured Ft. Duquesne in 1758.
• The fort was destroyed by the French because the fall of Ft. Frontenac prevented them from getting supplies.
Sir William Johnson
• I was a British militia officer.
• I won the Battles of Lake George and built Ft. William Henry in 1755.
• I also captured Ft. Niagara in 1759.

• Fortified French city on Cape Breton Island.
• Guarded the entrance to the St. Lawrence River.

• Captured and renamed by the British in 1758.

• Capital of New France• Scene of the only
battle fought between regular British and French soldiers
• Wolfe and Montcalm were killed here.

• Built by the British in 1755 to guard the southern end of Lake George.
• Captured and destroyed by the French in 1757.

• Built by the French to guard the spot where the waters of Lake George flows into Lake Champlain.

• Gen. Edward Braddock is ambushed as he tries to take Ft. Duquesne.
• William Johnson wins the Battles of Lake George.
• William Johnson becomes Sir William Johnson and builds Ft. William Henry
Campaign Year of 1756
• Marquis de Montcalm captures and destroyes Ft. Oswego
Campaign Year of 1757
• William Pitt elected Prime Minister of England.
• Montcalm captures and destroys Ft. William Henry – “Last of the Mohicans”
Campaign Year of 1758
• Gen. James Wolfe and Lord Jeffrey Amherst capture Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island.
• Gen. James Abercrombie defeated by Montcalm at Ft. Carillon.
• Lt. Col. John Bradstreet captures Ft. Frontenac.
• Gen. John Forbes captures Ft. Duquesne.
Campaign Year of 1759
• Lord Jeffrey Amherst captures Ft. Carillon and Ft. St. Frederic.
• Sir William Johnson captures Ft. Niagara.
• Battle of Quebec – Gen. James Wolfe defeats the Marquis de Montcalm – both generals die during the battle.
Campaign Year of 1760
• Three British armies converge on Montreal and Montreal surrenders.
• Fighting in North America is over.

Treaty of Paris of 1763
• France lost all her land in North America except Haiti and some fishing islands
• England got all French land east of the Mississippi River
• Spain got all French land west of the Mississippi River
• England got Florida from Spain
