1. GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION

How does the application system work?

First you have to create an account and then begin to fill in your application. You are able to submit an application when:

− your application form is complete

− you have uploaded all the required documents

− the online Letters of Reference has been received by HEC Paris

− you have paid the application fee of 100€ (if applicable)

When should I apply?

HEC runs:

− 4 admissions sessions (November, January, March and April session) for MSc Programs: International Finance, International Business, Managerial and Financial Economics, Marketing, Strategic Management, Sustainable Development.

− 2 admissions sessions (January and April session) for Mastères Spécialisés Programs: Droit et Management International, Management des Grand Projets, Inteligence Marketing, Médias, Art et Création.

− 3 admissions sessions (Ecole Polytechnique session, Places réservées session open to HEC Partner Institutions (link), and the general session open to all other applicants) for Mastère Spécialisé Entrepreneurs.

What do I need to start an application to HEC Paris Master Programs?

The applications open in early September 2013 for 2014 September intake. You should apply when you have gathered all the required documents and when the test scores (GMAT, GRE, TAGE MAGE, IELTS, TOEFL etc) are available to you.

Do you offer spring, winter entry?

No. Students may begin the HEC Paris Master Programs only in the fall. HEC Paris offers only a full-time Master Programs.

What are the deadlines to apply to HEC Master Programs?

− 5 November, 2013 for November application session For Master in International Finance the deadline is 12 November, 2013.

− 7 January, 2014 for January application session − 13 January, 2013 for students from Ecole Polytechnique applying to MS

Your complete online application must be submitted prior to 11:59pm (French Time) of the deadline for a given session. Full Admission Calendar is available on: www.admissions.hec.fr/en/Information/Admissions-Calendar

Could you tell me the difference between the sessions and if there is a disadvantage in applying for a later session?

There is no difference between the session’s admissions criteria. However, the numbers of places are limited and admission is highly competitive. That is why we encourage you to apply early. All the 4 sessions are for a single entry in September. There are no other entry points.

What are the documents required with the online application form?

When you complete your online application form, you will be asked to upload:

1. Resume (CV) photo including

2. Academic Degree(s) (if you have already graduated) or Certificate of attendance (if you are currently enrolled in your final year of study)

3. Official Transcripts or Mark sheet for all academic (undergraduate) years. Students who have completed an exchange or a study abroad program during the course of their undergraduate studies are required to submit copies of their study abroad transcripts if the course names, grades earned abroad are not already reflected on the home institution.

4. GMAT or GRE or TAGE MAGE score. The official scores must also be reported to HEC. The programs which do not require a standardized test are:

− Mastère Spécialisé Droit et Management International − Mastère Spécialisé Médias, Art et Création − Mastère Spécialisé Entrepreneurs

TAGE MAGE is not accepted for students applying to MSc in International Business and MSc in Marketing. There are no other GMAT, GRE or TAGE MAGE waivers for the Master Programs.

5. English test score (if applicable): The tests accepted are TOEFL (Computer-based, or Paper-based, or Internet-based), IELTS, TOEIC (Listening and Reading, or Speaking and Writing, or Bridge) and Cambridge Certificate (of Advanced English or Proficiency in English). The official scores must also be reported to HEC for verification purposes.

English tests are waived for the following:

− English natives − International students who have earned a degree from an institution in which ALL

instruction is conducted in English. The official language of the degree program has to be stated in the degree certificate or its supplement, or in the transcript of records.

− Students applying to Mastère Spécialisé in Intelligence Marketing, Management des Grand Projets or Entrepreneurs if they have taken GMAT or GRE instead of TAGE MAGE

− Students applying to Mastère Spécialisé in Intelligence Marketing, Management des Grand Projets, Entrepreneurs, Medias Art et Création or Droit et Management International if they spent at least one year in an exchange program in an English speaking coutry or have at least one year of professional experience in an English speaking coutry.

6. The copy of your ID card or passport (biographic data page only).

7. Motivation letter if you apply to a Mastère Spécialisé Program (not required if you apply to a Master of Science Program).

In what language should the online application form be filled out?

The application must be filled out in French if you apply for a program taught in French. If you apply for a program taught in English, the application form must be filled out in English.

What is a TIER-A University?

The term of TIER-A University is used to refer to universities known for world-class research, academic excellence, an exceptional student body, and the highest levels of innovation, creativity and scholarship. Because of these accomplishments, these universities enjoy a national “brand,” recognition and prestige.

I have started an online application to the November session but I am not ready to submit it by the given deadline. What should I do?

You are able to transfer your application from one session to another, if you missed the deadline. For this, please log in to your applicant space, click on “Edit choice” and choose an alternative session if there is any available: the April session is the last one available. Please be aware that some Masters are not available to all 4 application sessions (see admission calendar).

Can I apply to more than one Master Program at HEC?

Yes. When filling in your application form, you can make 2 choices for the same session. If you apply for two programs, your first choice is your preferred one. If your preferred first choice application is unsuccessful, your second choice application will be then transmitted

I wish to apply for more than one program, should I submit 2 applications?

Yes. You have to fill in 2 different applications and upload separate sets of documents for each. Your second choice application must be complete in order both first and second choice applications to be submitted.

After submitting my application, how can I be sure it is complete and taken into consideration by the Admissions Office?

An email notification is sent to you to confirm your application has been successfully submitted. If you do not receive an email receipt from us this means that we have not received your application. If any items are missing or if we have any questions or need further information, we will let you know at this stage.

Can I add new information if I have already submitted my application?

Once you have submitted your application, you will no longer be able to modify it except for the PERSONAL INFORMATION section. If invited to the interview, applicants may inform the Jury of other updates at that time (test scores, internships etc).

When should I check the system after submitting the application?

To track the progress of your application you should login to your application twice:

1. on the interview decision notification date (see the Admission calendar) to know if you have been shortlisted for an interview and so book an interview slot.

2. on the final decision notification date (see Admission calendar) to know if you have been offered admission*

* Please note that these dates concern your first choice master. If unsuccessful to your first choice application, your second choice application is transmitted for review. Admissions Office contacts applicants individually for their second choice calendar.

2. APPLICATION PROCESS

How does the Admissions Office process my application?

The HEC Master Programs Admissions Office processes all the applications according to the following steps:

− We check if your application has been submitted within the given deadline − We check if your educational background meets the eligibility criteria to the Master

you are applying to − We check if your application is complete and that the documents are valid, legible

and correctly uploaded

If the applications application complete or if complementary documents are needed, in both cases an email notification is sent to you.

Who reviews the applications?

After being processed by the Admissions Office, the application is reviewed and evaluated by the Academic Director of your Master. Finally, the applications are reviewed by the Admission Committee set up by the Dean of HEC Paris, the Associate Dean, the Admissions Director and Academic Directors of HEC Paris Master Programs.

What is the review process if I made 2 choices of programs?

If you apply for two programs, your first choice is your preferred one. If your preferred first choice application is unsuccessful, your second choice application will be then transmitted for review. Please note that there is no specific calendar for your second choice. The applicant will be contacted individually for their second choice calendar.

When is my second choice reviewed and will I get the results?

There is no specific calendar for your second choice. The applicant will be contacted individually for their second choice calendar.

How are the admissions criteria weighted?

The Admission Committee bases its decision on the strength of the application as a whole. No formula is used. If one area is a little weak, it might be overcome by outstanding attributes in another.

3. MANAGEMENT TESTS (GMAT, GRE, TAGE MAGE)

Can I apply before I have taken GMAT or GRE?

No. At least your unofficial score available on the day of the test has to be uploaded by the deadline in your application form. Incomplete applications cannot be submitted.

Do you accept unofficial GMAT or GRE test scores?

Yes, temporarily. When submitting your application, you may upload one of the following:

• official GMAT or GRE score (test taker copy) if you have received it

• unofficial GMAT or GRE score given on the day of the test

• screen shot of your GMAT or GRE score available to you on the respective websites

Your official score report may arrive from Pearson (for the GMAT) or ETS (for the GRE) after the deadline, but no later than the admission results date and this score will be used for verification purposes.

How can I report my GMAT or GRE or TAGA MAGE score?

− For the GMAT, instruct Pearson VUE to send your official GMAT scores directly to the HEC Paris Master Programs (HEC Paris code is OTL-6C-59).

− For the GRE, instruct Educational testing Service (ETS) to send your official scores directly to HEC Paris (HEC Paris code is 3623, choose any of department code).

− For the TAGE MAGE, HEC Paris will verify your score directly with FNEGE. There is no reporting procedure to be made by the applicant. Please ensure your TAGE MAGE test is taken before the application deadline.

Nor the official, neither the non official GMAT/GRE test score is available to me by the deadline. What should I do?

You will not be able to submit your application, as it must be complete by the application deadline. By consequence, we encourage you to transfer your application to a next session if another available. April session is the last one available in a selection year.

What is the last day I can take the GMAT/GRE/ TAGE MAGE?

We recommend that you take the GMAT/GRE/TAGE MAGE test at least 2 weeks in advance of submitting your application. Some GMAT/GRE test centers deliver a provisional score immediately after the test. In this case you can take the test the day before the deadline in order that you can upload at least the provisional score in your application and submit it before the deadline.

Can you confirm receipt of my official GMAT/GRE score?

No, we cannot confirm receipt of your official GMAT/GRE score. Please check with the test organizing institution you have designated the HEC Program code to receive your scores. We only contact you if the official scores did not reach HEC before the admission results are made available to applicants.

I have applied to HEC in the past and have decided to reapply. Do I need to report my scores again?

No. You do not need to resend your official scores to HEC Paris if the ones we have are still valid and if you have not retaken your tests.

For how long are GMAT, GRE, TAGE MAGE scores valid?

GMAT, GRE and TAGE MAGE scores are valid for 5 years and must be taken before submitting your application.

Is it possible to waive the GMAT/GRE/TAGE MAGE for any reason (e.g., important work experience, already having a PhD)?

No. All applicants are required to submit valid test scores for either the GMAT, or the GRE, or the TAGE MAGE. The programs which do not require a standardized test are:

− Mastère Spécialisés Droit et Management International − Mastère Spécialisés Média, Art et Création − Mastère Spécialisés Entrepreneurs

Is there a minimum GMAT/GRE/TAGE MAGE? How are multiple test scores considered? There are no minimum required or minimum cut-off scores for applying to the HEC Master Programs. We accept applicants with a wide range of scores. If you have takne a test several times, he Admissions will consider only your highest score when reviewing your application.

Do you have a preference in terms of which test to take?

We do not have a preference.

I have a low score. Should I still apply?

Yes. We consider all elements of your application, so it is important that you make each element as strong as possible. A low GMAT, GRE or TAGE Mage test can be offset by other positive points in your application file.

I have taken both GMAT and GRE score. Can I send them both?

No. Only one test will be taken into consideration by the Admissions Office. It is the applicant’s responsibility to choose which test will be submitted in the application.

4. ENGLISH TESTS (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English or Proficiency in English)

Who is required to take an English test?

All the applicants are required to take an English test. English tests are waived for the following:

− English natives − International students who have earned a degree from an institution in which ALL

instruction is conducted in English. The official language of the degree program has to be stated in the degree certificate or its supplement, or in the transcript of records.

− Students applying to Mastère Spécialisé in Intelligence Marketing, Management des Grand Projets or Entrepreneurs if they have taken GMAT or GRE instead of TAGE MAGE

− Students applying to Mastère Spécialisé in Intelligence Marketing, Management des Grand Projets, Entrepreneurs, Medias Art et Création or Droit et Management International if they spent at least one year in an exchange program in an English speaking coutry or have at least one year of professional experience in an English speaking coutry.

We will not accept requests for exceptions to this policy.

What if a part of my bachelor’s degree was taught in English and a part not in English?

You are still required to take an English language test if you apply to programs taught in English. You are not required to take an English language test if you apply for programs taught in French.

What if I have lived and worked in an English speaking country for many years?

You are still required to take an English language test if you apply to programs taught in English. You are not required to take an English language test if you apply for programs taught in French.

For how long are the English tests valid?

Please note that test results are valid for two years, except Cambridge certificates which have unlimited validity. Tests must be valid on the deadline of the program you are applying for.

Do you have a preference in terms of which English test to take? No.

How can I report my English test score to HEC?

- For the TOEFL: your local center might ask you for HEC Paris institutional code in order to transfer your test results confidentially to us. This code number is 0718.

Is there any minimum English test score requirements?

No. There is no minimum English test requirement for applying to HEC Master Programs. However, a complete command of the English language including proficiency in reading, writing and speaking is essential for success in HEC’ MSc Programs, as the lessons are conducted in English.

If you are applying to the Master in International Business with CEMS option, you must provide proof of proficiency in English (if not mother tongue) through any of the following: TOEFL iBT100; IELTS 7.0; CPE C1 level; CAE B; BEC Higher B. English tests are waived for the following:

− you have passed one of the CEMS-accredited local English exams − you have a Bachelor’s diploma taught entirely in English and obtained in an English-

speaking country or in a CEMS or EQUIS/AACSB accredited institution − you have A-level GCSE issued in Singapore

My official English test score is not available before the deadline. Do you accept screen shots of my English score available on-line?

Yes. When submitting your application, you may upload the screen shot of your score available to you on-line. Your official score sent by the test organizing institution must reach HEC before the admission results are published for verification purposes.

Can you confirm receipt of my official English test score reported by the organizing institution?

No. Please check with the test organizing institution directly. We only contact you if the official scores did not reach HEC before the admission results are made available to applicants.

5. OTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

How can I submit my documents?

The required documents must be scanned and uploaded in “Supporting documents” section of your application. The online application system allows for documents to be uploaded in pdf format only. When converting paper documents into electronic .pdf files, make sure:

− the limit of your files is maximum of 5 MB (5120KB)

− the format of your files is the A4 (210 x 297 mm) ISO standardized format (8.3 x 11.7 in)

− the page orientation (Portrait / Landscape) is correct

This should be achievable using the correct scanning settings.

After you upload your documents, PREVIEW the pages to make sure that the pages are clearly legible. If not:

− Re-scan the pages − Save them again − Delete the documents in the appropriate field − Upload the re-scanned documents

My documents exceed 5 MB? What should I do?

To reduce the size of the file, please try one of the following

− Lower the resolution

− Reduce the height and width of the image

− Scan in black and white

− Scan your documents into .jpeg format first and then convert them into pdf files (right click then select Convert into pdf format), rather than scanning them directly into pdf format.

How can I submit my transcripts?

Transcripts must be scanned and uploaded to the application. Please, do not mail hard copy of your transcripts. You may upload an “unofficial” or student copy of your transcripts. However, we will request an official copy for verification purposes should you be admitted to HEC Paris.

My transcripts contain more than one page. How can I upload them in a single uploading space provided for this document?

If your transcripts have multiple pages, it must be scanned into a single PDF document before uploading. You will not be able to upload transcript pages individually.

Is there a minimum GPA requirement to apply?

No. There is no minimum GPA requirement to apply for variances in grading systems around the world.

How do I calculate my GPA if my university or college does not provide one? If your university/college does not evaluate academic performance on a 4.0 GPA scale, you should NOT convert your score to a GPA/4. Report your average grade as your university lists it in your official transcripts.

What is a Certificate of attendance?

Certificate of attendance is a document provided by your University that confirms your student status, program of study, level and duration of program.

What if my degree/certificate of attendance/transcripts is neither in English or French?

You must have the degree/certificate of attendance/transcript translated by an official translating service. You must upload both the original and the translated version compiled in one single document.

There are eight required short essay questions that must be submitted:

How do you answer these short essay questions?

Please do not exceed 1000 characters for each essay. The Admissions have many applications to go through and appreciate short, well-expressed essays. By limiting the answers to 1000 characters we search to avoid receiving general statements and to make you focus on specific points that only you could have written and which could show your unique personality. To make your point quickly using only the most precise words, that is a part of our writing test.

7. WORK EXPERIENCE

Are internships considered as work experience?

While we recognize the value of internships, they are not considered to be professional work experience. The internships information must be detailed on your CV (Resumé).

Will part time jobs be considered as work experience? Yes.

8. REFERENCES

How many references should I send?

We require 2 reference letters sent through your online application. A maximum of 3 may be sent.

And what if I have made 2 choices?

The references in your first choice application will be used automatically for your second choice application.

Who should I ask to recommend me?

Recommenders should be professors who know the applicant well. However, if you are unable to provide 2 academic reference letters, one may be from an employer.

Can I send professional recommendation letters?

Yes, if you have more than 2 years of work experience and your employers know you better than your professors.

What is the process for recommenders?

Applicants enter recommender’s names and email addresses into their online application. Recommenders then receive an email providing further instructions on how to proceed with the online reference.

How do I know if a recommender accepted or declined my invitation?

Whether he/she accepts or refuses to write a reference, in both cases you are notified by email. Accepting does not mean completed. Please ensure the forms are filled in and submitted by the reference providers before the deadline. It takes 5- 10 minutes to a referee to fill in the form.

Both you and your referee are notified by email when the letters are successfully submitted.

What questions the recommendation letter includes?

The recommendation form sent to your referee contains questions on your abilities, academic performances and leadership potential.

How can I track my recommendation letters status?

You can track the status of your existing Letters of Recommendation requests from the “References” section of your application. Each request will be listed in one of the following statuses:

Will I be able to submit my application if references letters are not yet received via the online application?

The recommendation letters are required for submitting the application. You are responsible for ensuring that 2 recommendations are submitted online prior to the application deadline. That is why, we recommend you to fill in the “recommendation section” as soon as possible, so as to give them as much time as possible to receive the form and recommend you.

My referee has not received the invitation to write a recommendation. What should I do?

It is possible that the invitation went directly to their spam box .You should go to the “References section”, click on "mail" link situated below your referee contacts, copy paste the text appearing into an email and send it through your personal email account.

Can my recommenders submit their letters of recommendation after the application deadline?

Yes, but this imply that your application may be reviewed incomplete by the admission jury. Everything from you and the recommenders needs to be submitted by the deadline.

My referee will not be able to provide recommendations in time? Can I ask another referee?

Yes. You can delete the request, fill in the new referee contact details and submit the new request.

Do you accept hard copies of recommendation letters?

No. We accept only letters submitted via the online application. No hard copies will be accepted.

9. APPLICATION FEE

How much is the application fee?

The application fee is 100€, and must be paid by Credit card when you submit your application. The application fee is required and non-refundable.

I have made a second choice? Do I need to pay twice the application fee?

No. You pay once whether you apply for one or 2 masters in the same application session.

It is possible to waive the application fee?

No. The application fee is waived only for:

- Applicants from French ParisTech Schools, ENS Ulm or ISAE Group, HEC Partners Institutions

- CROUS grant holders on social criteria (please, download the CROUS certificate)

- Laureates of 'Nos quartiers ont des talents' Association

10. INTERVIEW

Who is invited to take the interview?

Only admissible (shortlisted) applicants are invited to take the interview.

When should I expect an invitation for an interview?

To know if you are admissible and invited to take the interview, you have to connect to your applicant space by the admissibility results date (see calendar).

How do I schedule an interview?

The day the admissible results are made available, you are invited to choose via your applicant space page your interview date, time and type (on campus or by Skype*). Once you are offered an interview, it becomes a required part of the application process. Please register for an interview slot online as soon as possible as the slots are offered on a first come first served basis. Please note that there is not Skype interviews

Is there a preference from HEC on how to conduct the interview (on campus or by Skype)? For students residing in France, the effort to come to meet us will be appreciated. For international students, we understand that Skype is more convenient in most cases. However, there are no Skype interviews possible for applicants to MS Entrepreneurs.

The interviews are generally contacted by the Academic Director of the Master and also HEC professors or Alumni.

In which language are the interviews held?

The interview is fully held in English for programs taught in English. The interviews are held in French and English for programs taught in French.

What kind of questions may I expect during the interview?

The main objective of the interview is to explore the quality of the match between the objectives of the applicant and what the program has to offer. We not only want to select the best candidates but also make sure that HEC Paris is the best next step for them. You should thus definitely expect career-related questions. We are keen on getting students who are passionate which implies we also frequently ask questions about recent business news. Other questions may depend on your profile: as we want to get to know you better, we will certainly ask about the most striking experiences on your CV, be they professional or extra-curricular.

How can I best prepare?

The purpose of the interview is to better understand your motivations to our programs. But it is both evaluative and informative. It is not only an opportunity for us to learn more about you, but also for you to learn more about HEC Paris.

I have not been selected for the interview. May I get a feedback of why this happened?

No. Only applicants who have completed an admissions interview, but are ultimately denied admission are eligible to receive feedback on his or her application. 11. ADMISSION DECISIONS

How are released the admission decisions?

The admission decisions are released via the applicant space. Please note that in case you have applied to multiple programs, you will have a separate decision shown in each application you have submitted.

What are the types of admission decision?

When reviewing an application, the Final Admission Jury may take next type of decisions:

− Admission: we offer clear admission to highly qualified applicants pending confirmation of their official academic degree/transcripts and test scores.

− Conditional admission: we offer conditional admission to applicants who clearly demonstrate significant potential for success but who feel need additional improvement of the application. The Admissions office informs individually each applicant of the requirements or conditions that must be met before the student will be offered full admission.

− Waitlist: applicants can expect to remain on the waitlist until the following rounds of decision are released. There is no rank order to the waitlist. This policy is designed to create an admission process that is fair and equitable for all selection sessions applicants.

− Non admission

How long do candidates typically remain on the waitlist?

Applications can be re-reviewed by the Admissions Committee at any time, but this typically happens between March and June. Applicants may be offered admission, their waitlist status may be extended, or they may be released and encouraged to reapply the following year.

What is the process if I am waitlisted for my first choice and I have made a second choice?

In this case your second choice application is reviewed. If admitted to your second choice and finally offered admission to your first choice, you'll be able to choose the master you wish to enroll in September 2013 (MIF or MFE).

How many applicants are placed on the waitlist? The number of candidates placed on the

waitlist fluctuates from year to year, depending on the size and quality of the applicant pool.

How many applicants are offered admission from the waitlist? Whether we admit from the wait list and the number of candidates admitted varies, depending on application numbers and enrollment for a given year.

Does HEC Paris rank the waitlist? HEC Paris does not rank applicants on the waitlist. Instead, each waitlisted applicant's file is reviewed and compared with other admitted applicants.

12. UNSUCCESSFULL APPLICATIONS

Will HEC provide feedback for unsuccessful applicants?

Yes. Only applicants who have completed an admissions interview, but are ultimately denied admission are eligible to receive feedback on his or her application. Please, address your request for feedback at the end of the admission year in July 2013 to [email protected]. Feedback is not offered prior to July due to our application volume. Please note that we do not give feedback to applicants who were not selected for the interview.

May rejected student reapply for the same term entry?

Yes. But we generally do not encourage it. We will only reconsider your application if there is some new information which adds significant weight to your reapplication. If there is no new information, no purpose can be served by reapplying.

I have applied last year to the HEC Master Programs unsuccessfully. Can I reapply?

Yes. If you decide to reapply for the intake of the year after your original application, you have to resubmit an entirely new application. You must submit official transcripts of any academic work accomplished since the date of the last application, new recommendation forms and application fee.

Is the application fee waived for reapplicants?

The application fee is not waived for reaplicants.

If I’ve been denied admission, may I appeal the decision?

According to the HEC Paris Admission rules, the admission decisions are final and there is no process for appeal.

Can I defer my admission to HEC Paris Master Programs?

Deferrals are only granted in exceptional cases and are offered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of both Academic Director and the Director of Admissions. Deferral requests must be submitted by email to [email protected]. Please, include a statement outlining the reasons of your deferral request and detail activities planned during the year of the deferral request. Please note, that the financial confirmation of your place is mandatory to defer an admission.

How long can I defer my admission?

Approval of deferral requests may be granted up to a maximum of one year.

Can I also defer the HEC merit based scholarship I’ve been awarded?

A deferral of admission will not include automatically a deferral of merit-based scholarship. Your application will be reconsidered along with the new applications received.

14. FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Does HEC Paris offer merit/need based scholarships?

Yes. The merit-based scholarship partially covers the tuition fee and its supply is limited. All admitted students to MSc programs may apply. Special attention will be given to excellent applicants from non-European countries.

HEC need-based scholarships are available for students having studied in France and having obtained a "Bourse CROUS pour raison sociale".

May I apply for a full tuition waiver?

No. Full tuition waivers are not available at HEC Paris.

What other funding opportunities are available to international students?

The applications to Eiffel Scholarship are submitted by HEC directly. For this, the applicant must have been admitted to the November Session (deadline: November 4th, 2012), have accepted the offer of admission and have paid the acceptance fee by the indicated deadline.

Can I get a bank loan in France?

Students may also finance the cost of their education with student loans, which typically carry low interest rates and can be paid back following graduation. However, French banks require a guarantor living in France. We suggest that you contact your local bank in your home country. They often have close links to certain banks in France.

Do I need a visa to study in France? If so, how can I get one?

Student’s from one of the European Union countries will not need a visa to study in France. All other international students will require a visa to study. If you live in one of the following countries, you must use the online CEF procedure (open a personal account on the Website of the Campus France office in your country of residence):

When should I begin applying for a visa?

You must begin your application procedure as early as possible, ideally about 3 months before coming to France.

What documents do I need from HEC Paris to apply for a student VISA?

Enrollment certificate is usually required before a student visa can be granted. The enrollment certificate includes student name, degree program, dates enrolled, and expected graduation date.

When the enrollment certificate is typically mailed?

The enrollment certificate is sent approximately 20 days after the deadline of paying the non-refundable enrollment deposit upon accepting HEC offer of admission. We use your current address that you have indicated in your application form when mailing the documents.

What if I wish to receive the enrollment certificate to another address then that I have indicated in my application form?

18. DEGREE VERIFICATION

Should I submit my original transcript or degree certificate to HEC Paris?

Yes. Your offer of admission is contingent on successful completion of all courses in progress or planned prior to your entry to HEC Paris. You have to bring and show your original degree certificate and transcripts for verification purposes to the Program Manager in person, at the beginning of term in September 2014, once on campus.

What is the deadline to submit my original degree certificate and transcripts for verification to Admissions Office?
