    Erik Erikson: Psychosocial Stages

The child must resolve 8 crises or stages in life.

It is possible to become fixated or regress to a crisis.

These correspond with Freuds psychosexual stages but

    Eriksons include adult stages.

Resolution of crises brings about strength of character.

This character impacts on our society and makes possible

    one of societies institutions.

    Eriksons Psychosocial Stages

Also, in each stage, the child acquires a

character trait (virtue) and society benefits

by the formation of an institution. Example, in the first stage, the child gets

the virtue of hope , society gets religion.
