https://sttwaylandmi.com/ Friday, March 13, 2020 St. Therese News Dear Families, How quickly we have moved from the excitement of our Night with the Stars, to the unprecedented closure of our school buildings for three weeks in response to the rapid spread of the coronavirus. This morning, I attended a meeting with my colleagues from all of the other Catholic Schools in our diocese to discuss and plan for how we will proactively provide for our students' education in these unusual circumstances. Because of how seriously we take our mission of providing a quality education for every child, we are not going to be sending home a pile of materials today. Rather, the teachers and I will be meeting on Monday to plan and prepare. We will have book bags with what your child will need for the first week. The school will be open from 2 pm-4 pm on Monday to pick up your child's book bag. If you are unable to be at school during those hours, we will be happy to make plans to deliver it to you. Please know that even if we can't all be together in the same room, you and your children are always in our hearts and prayers. I will be sending out a more detailed message by email later today and will update you after we meet as a team. I plan to maintain office hours at the building from 9 am-noon throughout the closure. Let's keep all of those who are directly affected by the virus in our prayers and expand our prayers to those whose lives will be impacted by growing social implications. Auction Help - Auction committee is looking for help with managing donations as they come in. If this is something you'd be interested in helping with, please contact a committee member. Auction - Planning has begun for the upcoming auction. Donation letters have gone out. We have sent donation letters home in Friday Notes, please prayerfully consider donating to this cause. This is our main fundraiser and it's success determines whether or not we need to hold future fundraisers for the school year! If you would like to donate or know of a company that would be a great addition to our event, please contact the office or a committee member to have it added to the list. This year's committee members are Jessica Harnish, Maria Musgrave, Sara Coffey, Lisa Ford, and Rebecca Miller. If you would like to be a part of the committee or help out with planning, we would love to hear from you! Classroom Baskets - Each year, classrooms donate a basket to the auction. Each basket has a theme and parents are asked to donate items towards their basket. We ask that items be turned in by Friday, April 3.

Virtue of the Week: Magnanimity

Seeking with confidence to do great things in God, literally "having a large soul"

Prayer Sacred Heart of Jesus, You loved us even to the point of death. Give me a big heart! Give me Your Heart!

Help me to love others with all my heart!

Ways to CultivateAges 6 and up: Compliment someone when they do something good, even if you wanted to be the one to do it. "You did a great job."

Ages 10 and up: Allow others to receive the praise and credit they deserve; ask God to help you recognize the good in others.

Ages 12 and up: Acknowledge the good in others when it is difficult; strive to do difficult tasks with God's grace.
