FAQWhere is the Master of Education in Teaching and Learning offered?

We offer adult-focused master’s degrees in Wichita, Topeka and online. Not all courses and programs are available in all locations or in both online and on-campus formats. Please check with your Admissions Counselor for more details.

How many credit hours will it take to complete the program?

Each three-credit course is offered in an eight-week session, with on-campus courses meeting one night a week. The Master of Education in Teaching and Learning degree requires 30 credit hours.

Is the program accredited?Yes. All Friends University undergraduate and graduate degrees are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. Additionally, education degrees at Friends University are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Will I be required to take a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)?

No. Neither test is required for entrance into graduate programs at Friends University. All graduate programs require a pre-admissions interview with the program director.

Value-added learningThe Master of Education in Teaching and Learning combines six classes (18 credit hours) of cutting-edge curriculum focused on the common core, learning performance and assessment coupled with 12 workshop hours to complete the 30-credit-hour program.

The core coursesAvailable on campus or online, graduate students will complete the following courses:

• 21st Century Learner (3 credit hours)• Assessment for Learning (3 credit hours)• Action Research for Teachers (3 credit hours)• Advanced Curriculum Design (3 credit hours)• Technology for Educators (3 credit hours)• Teacher Leadership (3 credit hours)

A custom degree with workshopsMaster of Education in Teaching and Learning students select 12 workshop hours of their choice from a catalog of more than 100 workshops. Participants will be able to select classes that apply to their specific content area or grade level and address areas of interest or need. The diversity of offerings allows teachers to experience some of the many educational opportunities available within the community. The workshops can be used to fulfill state license renewal requirements for school personnel.
