When I look at my hands, I see callouses from years of farming and outdoor activity. I see a few wrinkles that indicate years of life experience. When I was younger, I used my hands to stop me as I ran through a glass door, and consequently, I have scars along my hand and wrist and a thumb that does not function properly. Mostly, though, I see my father’s hands and the lessons about the Lord, family, and life that he has taught me. Our hands are involved in just about everything we do. They act as our first level of self-defense when we are falling. We use our hands to eat, write, type, drive and the list goes on and on. Just like my hands tell a story of events in my past, your hands do the same. No matter what the condition of your hands, we need to keep them strong for the Lord’s work. Our hands can be offered as a stabilizing force to some one who needs help getting back on their feet, Our hands can be offered in sympathy to someone who has lost a loved one, and our hands can be firm when someone needs to turn their life around and get back on the straight and narrow path. During the past two months we have prayed for our Elders, Deacons, teachers and each other. We have prayed for ourselves to have listening ears, watching eyes, an understanding heart, and words ready to explain the Gospel. Now is the time to extend the hand of fellowship to those around us. My prayer is that we all have strong hands ready and willing to do the Lord’s work here at Southern Hills. ~Andy Miller SUNDAY MORNING SERMON Ken Hardison “The Unchanging God in a Changing World” (James 1:17) SUNDAY EVENING SERMON: YOUNG MEN Office: (615) 794-5267 Fax: (615)794-5342 News Line: (615)794-8885 Email: [email protected] Website: www.southernhills.net ELDERS: David Broome John Bufford Dan Cottrell John Cottrell Jeff Rhodes Stoney Warren DEACONS: ADVERTISING: Ryan Haedge, Cullen Rodgers BENEVOLENCE: David Cost, Matthew Ensor BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: DeWayne Johnston, Herb Jones, Matt Potts DAY SCHOOL: Chris Graham, Len McKnatt, Dave Sweeney EDUCATION: Dale Alden, Phillip McCullough, Mike Mizer, Daniel Winkler FINANCE & OFFICE ADMIN: Chris Graham, Clint Oppermann HEALTH & WELLNESS: John Dees MISSIONS: John Pratt, Thomas Waggoner NEW MEMBER: Matthew Ensor, Ryan Haedge SECURITY: Jimmy Campbell SENIOR MINISTRY: Herb Jones, Dave Sweeney TECHNOLOGY: Michael Meade, Cullen Rodgers WORSHIP: Herb Jones, Alex Melton, Dave Sweeney YOUTH: Jimmy Campbell, Jimmy Davis, Chris Doughtie, DeWayne Johnston, Michael Meade MINISTER: Dan Cottrell FAMILY LIFE MINISTER: Andy Miller YOUTH MINISTER: Cody Lovett SECRETARY: Katie Vanderpool ...from Andy Miller Oct 30, 2016 - Trunk or Treat Nov 5, 2016 - Family Forum Nov 27, 2016 - 9th and up to Opryland for Holiday Lights Dec 20, 2016 - Holiday Caroling Dec 29-30, 2016 - Equip Jan. 7, 2017 - Special Girls' Service Project Jan13-16, 2017 - Family Ski Retreat March 10-12, 2017 - Spring Retreat April 13-15, 2017 - Lads to Leaders May 21, 2017 - Graduate Reception June 4-9, 2017 - WCBC Bible Camp Youth Oct. 28-30, 2016 - Fall Retreat - Around 50 of us are away today at Fall Retreat with Concord Road Church of Christ.
