FROM FATHER TOM’S DESK
Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist: When certain important feasts fall on a Sunday, they take priority. Today we celebrate with great joy the Birth of St. John the
Baptist. He was called to prepare the way for the Lord. We remember with delight that even before he was born, he began that work – leaping with joy in his mother’s womb when Mary came to visit Elizabeth. In many ways, he is the patron for all of us. Each of us can help others prepare the way for Jesus to come into their lives.
Vision 2020 Update: We’re well into one of the promised improvements made possible by your Vision 2020 donations. Over the summer
we will be replacing most of the lights in the school and church with more energy efficient lighting. Over the next several years, the large savings in our electric bills will pay for the cost of the conversion. The new lights for the school have already arrived, and the installation is almost complete! The lights we need for the church will arrive a little later this summer. They will not only be much more energy efficient (and give off far less heat) but will also help make it easier to read worship aids and hymnals. We’re now just over 2 years into our 3 year capital campaign, and we’ve received over $1.5 million with total pledges over $1.8 million toward our challenge goal of $2 million. Thank you to the many families who have already contributed. If your family hasn’t made a gift to the campaign, it’s not too late. Reaching our goal will help us put aside additional funds for future repair projects. For example, we have learned that our air conditioning unit in the church is on its last legs. We hope to keep a healthier balance in our reserves so that we can address the needs as they arise.

Seeking Friendship with Other Ladies from St. Michael?
Consider joining our WINE group this Fall. WINE: Women In the New Evangelization. Through much prayer, the women who have come together from around the country to form WINE, came to understand that whereas the Lord said to St. Francis, “Rebuild my Church,” for such a time as this, the Lord is calling to women, asking us to work in the beauty of our natural gifts as women. As we learn through one another in shared experiences, together we build a stronger faith and become a living example of the life God has chosen for us to live. Join us in our journey. A special thank you to Rhonda Zweber, who brought WINE to our Parish. Questions, please call Annie Sheehan-Kerber 612.747.3682 or Vicki Goblirsch 612.280.5572 Co-Chairs
A Study: The Second Greatest Story Ever Told Please join us for a ten-session study on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. starting June 25th. In this study, led by parishioner Joyce Heither, Fr. Gaitley discusses the dramatic history of Poland, the transformative message of St. Faustina Kowalska, the prophetic apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, the powerful witness of St. Maximillian Kolbe, and the world-changing papacy of Pope Saint John Paul II. Material costs: $15 for the reading book and $20 for the Guidebook. To register contact Deacon Terry at (952) 447-9062 or [email protected]

Please Note:
During the months of June and July, SCRIP will be sold only after weekend Masses at the church. It will not be available for sale at the school or Parish Office. Sales from the school office will resume on Aug 1. Scrip is a powerful fundraising tool where families simply do their regular weekly shopping with gift cards from their favorite retailers. This helps generate revenue for the church at no cost to the participants because they are making purchases they would make anyway, including: groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, & gasoline.

Weaving morality into our studies teaches students that their choices have an impact on their lives. We consider our work a partnership with parents so that we can help lead the youth of today in the right direction so they are not simply directed by their own desires. FISH - Families & Individuals Sharing Hope
Have you ever wished you
could directly help people
in need? FISH Partner
Network is a local
organization that brings together donors and people in
need. These are very specific needs from people who
are struggling to keep their heads above water. FISH
offers a means for people like you to be able to meet
these specific needs, without anything being lost to the
middle man. What kind of needs? Here are some
recent examples of some of the needs that are posted:
1) Homeless man that was donated a bike last week
landed a job! The restaurant he is working at is
requiring shoes as a part of uniform. Slip resistance
shoes size 11 are needed..
2) Any help appreciated for diagnosis and repair of the
vehicle a father uses for the two jobs he works. The
problem might be a CV joint.
3) Mother of 7 children lost child support when her
husband went back to Africa. She needs money for
June rent. She has plan to be able to pay going
forward.
Cheerful GiversJune’s food needs for Cheerful Givers
& CAP Food Shelf: Mac ’n' Cheese,
Peanut Butter and Toothpaste.
Peter’s Pence CollectionThe annual Peter’s Pence Collection
for Pope Francis takes place on the
weekend of June 30/July 1. Funds
received for this collection enable the
Holy Father to carry out his
charitable works around the world. For example, in
Nyamirambo, Rwanda, the Salesian Sisters of the
Sacred Hearts used contributions from Peter’s Pence
to expand their building enabling them to increase
education for poor, hearing-impaired children. Please
support our brothers and sisters through Peter’s Pence
and charitable works of the Holy Father.
