We are so blessed to have Missy Kilpatrick as our Children’s Ministry Director. She led a terrific group of leaders and workers. Vacation Bible School is one of the premier weeks of ministry in our church. The gospel is lovingly shared to each child. These ‘seeds of truth’ will be used by God to bless them in years to come. First Baptist, thank you for being so supportive and dedicated to VBS. We also rejoiced last Sunday as we welcomed Andrew and Jessica Bonner and Charlie and Carolee Seale into our membership. God has blessed our church in the last few weeks with new members. It is important that we continue to invite people to our church and make each guest feel welcome. You will enjoy serving with these new members. Next Sunday is Father’s Day. We will have a Men, Fathers and Sons Breakfast in our Fellowship Hall, at 8:30 a.m., before Sunday School. We will have a full hot breakfast as well as donuts and fruit. I will be sharing a brief challenge. I want to see all our men and boys there. Make it happen! On Sunday, June 24th, Mr. Tim Menzies –Nashville recording artist and songwriter – will present “The Word and Song” in our 10:45 a.m. worship service. Tim grew up in a musical family that had their own band. He moved to Nashville to begin is career. Tim co-founded the band, Bandana and recorded two solo albums. He played guitar on many country star’s projects but it was his songwriting that had the greatest impact on country music. Artists like George Jones, Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Mark Chestnutt, Shenandoah, and many others have recorded his songs. Tim and his wife, Janet, have one son, Timothy. In 1991, Tim’s life changed forever. Tim will share his story, God’s story and of course, songs from his Grammy-nominated, gospel album – His Way of Loving Me. Good morning church family, We are excited about hearing and seeing from the kids who came to VBS this past week. We all had a great week and God really worked in all of our lives. I’m so thankful to be a part of a church that thinks about; plans for; cares for; and loves families and children. Vaca#on Bible School is one of the largest outreach events we do as a church and has such an impact on the lives of children. Please con#nue to pray for them as they grow in their faith. Being around these children this past week reminded me of the faith that God desires of me - childlike. God does not want a “childish” faith out of His followers. We are to grow into mature believers. Childlike faith is that which realizes God is first, preeminent, and supreme. If God is those things (and He is), then like a child depends on their father, we will be completely dependent on His grace for salva#on and daily living. I love you all more than you know.
