Parish School Building Renovations by Shea Family Charities
Dear Parishioners, This year we are fortunate to have been selected to receive an amazing upgrade to our school building. This upgrade is going to be provided by the Shea Family Charities. Upgrades include:
• Installing new LED light fixtures in each classroom • Repairs to the restrooms and partitions for all urinals • Installation of Low Energy windows throughout the entire school • Replacing any carpet areas with non carpet flooring • Replacing air-conditioning units • Installing a new roof to the entire school building • Installation of new wireless infrastructure for the entire school • Whiteboards and projectors in all the classrooms • Transformation of the MPR to a full TK classroom
Renovations are to begin Monday, June 12th, with projected completion on Friday, Aug. 11th. They will be working Mondays-Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 5 PM. Because of the substantial work that will be conducted to our building we as a parish have been asked by the Shea Family charities to also contribute to this by raising $100,000. Our school building is used seven days a week. The school uses it Monday-Friday and many of our ministries (religious education, prayer and bible study groups, baptism classes, tutoring, etc.) use it from Friday evening through Sunday. So this facility upgrade benefits the entire parish. For this reason we shall be making some fundraising and also use some of our reserves to come up with this amount. Thank you for all your support. Let us contin-ue to work together to make our parish a home for everyone. Fr. John, Pastor

Please Support Our Fireworks Sale
Please patronize our stand for all your fireworks purchases. We will be open for sales from Fri-day, June 30th through Tuesday, July 4th. Volunteers are still needed to help with set-up, fireworks sales, security and take-down. Sign-up sheets and return boxes are at church entrances, please return completed forms in marked boxes. Individuals must be 18 years or older to work inside the booth. Make this a fun family volunteer event. Children are welcome to help with holding banners, signs, balloons, etc. outside the booth with parental supervision. Volunteering to work in our Fireworks stand is a perfect oppor-tunity for our school and religious education/confirmation families to earn community service hours.
STA School Second Collection 6/17-6/18
As Parishioners, we need to support our school in different ways. One way is to have more children enrolled. If your school age child is not part of STA school, please take advantage of our Catholic school and enroll. Talk to Fr. John if you have any questions. Another way, starting in June this year, we are going to have a monthly second collec-tion every third Sunday of the month to support our own school and it's operation, so that we may continue to provide a Catholic education to our children. Operating a school takes a lot of money. We need to have at least 180 stu-dents to have the school running smoothly. Cur-rently with 150 students, we need to help as a parish to keep our school going forward. I therefore ask you to please support our school in any way you can. I thank you so much for your generosity. Let's invest in our children, our future, our faith.

SCHOOL NEWS
Congratulations Class of 2017 Last Saturday the STA 8th grade class held their graduation ceremony. We would like to congratulate all 2017 graduates, especially those from St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and our parish. May the Lord bless all graduates and continue to guide them in their future endeavors.
Blessings for the Graduates All wise, all loving God,
We thank you for all your gifts to us; for making us, for saving us in Christ,
for calling us to be your people. Look with love on our graduates and
bless them as they complete their years of school. May your Spirit give them
many skills and talents and help them to use these gifts for your glory and for the good of all people. In your kindness, guide
them along paths that are level and smooth. We ask these blessings through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Priest Retirement Fund Second Collection
6/10 & 6/11 Bless Those Who Bless You
This weekend marks the annual invita-tion for each of us to contribute to the Priest Retirement Fund for our priests in the Archdio-cese of Los Angeles. At all of our Masses this week we will ask that you and your families consider making a gift to this vital appeal. The fund is currently providing 149 priests in our Archdiocese a monthly stipend for living and medical expenses so they may live humbly and with dignity in their retirement. All gifts are invested in the pension fund to be used exclusively to support our priests. Thank you for your continued prayers for our priests and for considering making a gift in their honor.

Violence within the home affects the entire community
Angelus News recently published an arti-cle on how domestic violence affects the entire family and the community members of all ages. In the article Dr. Ana Nogales, said “domestic violence not only leads to an altercation be-tween two partners, but can harm innocent children. We need to be alert, and not tolerate abuse at home or in the community.” To learn more about what you can do read the full arti-cle at: http://www.angelusnews.com/articles/violence-within-the-home-affects-the-entire-community
