From the Pastors Desk - Second Sunday of Easter A Special Easter “Thank You” Once again during this Easter Season, I would like to thank you, for sharing with your fellow parishioners your time, talent and treasure. Your prayers, personal services to others and sacrifices are continually helping to bring our parishioners closer to God and one another. All of us are slowly growing more conscious of the truth that we are an Easter People. “Thank You” for your support and generous cooperation at St. Christopher’s Parish in furthering God’s work during this Easter Season. Prayerful good wishes and may our Holy Mother guard and guide you. ***** 20 Week Club For the next coming weeks until May 18th, we will be pulling numbers every Saturday of the winners for the 20 Week Club. 16th winner: #252 Ed & Mariann Hosig. Congratulations and thank you all who participated. The Vigil Light for the year 2020 will be available for purchase on June 4th from 10:00 am until 2:30 pm on a first come first serve basis. In order to give more people a chance to have a vigil light for the year 2020 we will be offering two vigil lights per month ($25.00 per light). The first two weeks of each month for one person and the last two weeks for another. ***** “Many signs and wonders were done among the people at the hands of the apostles. They were all to- gether in Solomon’s portico. None of the others dared to join them, but the people esteemed them. Yet more than ever, believers in the Lord, great numbers of men and women, were added to them.” The story of the early church, as related in the Acts of the Apostles, not only records what happened, but moti- vates us today, to continue the apostolic work. We sometimes fail to see that our hands are the hands of the apostles, or even the hands of Christ working in our world today. Do you remember the story of the recon- structed chapel destroyed by bombs in Europe? American GIs restored almost everything, but a shattered statue of the Sacred Heart lacked fingers and hands. They wisely placed a sign in front of the icon reading ‘I have no hands but yours.’ We are the hands of the Lord, because we are baptized, missionary disciples. A kind word, a gracious invita- tion, a gentle reminder of the love of Jesus to one who is hurting or lonely, can restore the church in the heart of someone. Reach out! for the month of May, 2019.

Please remember in your prayers those who recently entered into their new and eternal life in Christ.

First Reading: Acts 5:12-16

The people held the apostles in great esteem and brought sick people to them to be healed. Although some were afraid to be known, the number of Jesus' followers continued to grow steadily.

Second Reading: Revelation 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19 John depicts a vision of lamp-stands of gold and one like the Son of Man in a robe with a sash of gold. This apparition told John he had nothing to fear and then described himself as one who was dead but now lived again. He then instructed John to record any other visions he might have.

Gospel: John 20:19-31 Jesus appeared to the disciples and breathed on them saying, "Receive the Holy Spirit". He gives them the power to forgive people's sins or hold them accountable. Thomas, who was not present, refused to believe Je-sus had appeared until he came to them once more. Jesus told Thomas to believe and added, "Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed". Sunday Acts 5:12-16; Rv 1:9-11a, 12-13, 17-19; Jn 20:19-31, Monday Acts 4:23-31; Jn 3:1-8, Tuesday Acts

4:32-37; Jn 3:7b-15, Wednesday Acts 5:17-26; Jn 3:16-21 or, for the Memorial, Gn 1:26-2:3 or Col 3:14-15, 17, 23-24; Mt 13:54-58, Thursday Acts 5:27-33; Jn 3:31-36, First Friday 1 Cor 15:1-8; Jn 14:6-14, First Saturday

ASA Co-Sponsorship Model Expands to Include Saint Pius X Parish

Great things are happening at All Saints Academy! We are happy to share that Saint Pius X Parish has recently joined Saint Ann Parish, Saint Christopher Parish and Saint Peter the Apostle Parish as the fourth co-sponsor of All Saints Academy. On April 12, the pastors of these four area parishes met with Bishop Serratelli to affirm their shared commitment to Catholic education in the Parsippany area. Father David Pickens (Saint Ann Parish), Father Joseph Buffardi (Saint Christopher Parish, Monsignor Herbert Tillyer (Saint Peter the Apostle Parish) and Father Mark Olenowski (Saint Pius X Parish) have pledged to work cooperatively to oversee and support the school’s operation and to promote All Saints Academy as this area’s PreSchool-Grade 8 diocesan school. With near-ly 300 students, All Saints Academy has recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and has been a successful model of a co-sponsored elementary school. Each parish and its leadership par-ticipates in the spiritual, educational, financial and community facets of the school. This model has been uniquely successful in our diocese and now will grow stronger with the inclu-sion of the Saint Pius X and Montville families. All Saints Academy is a nationally recognized STEM school of the Diocese of Paterson. Our school offers a comprehensive, multi-curricular, rigorous academic program, centered on val-ues-based education. A strong and loving Catholic identity permeates the environment. A spirit of faith, respect and joy are evident in our school. In addition to religious instruction, students model Christian ideals through cooperative activities, spiritual and liturgical celebra-tions, participation in Sacraments, and service outreach. An active parent organization lends partnership and support to the school community. The Early Childhood Center offers classes for three and four year old children. The elementary and middle school classes include kinder-garten through grade eight. Contact our school principal, Mrs. Judy Berg, at 973-334-4704, for more information.
