"NOT A BOOK FOR PEOPLE WHO ENJOY
SETTLED CONSCIENCES //
WHAT BELONGS TO CAESAR? Bv Donald D. Kaufman
Even before American soldiers were involved in
fighting in the war in Vietnam, someone observed that the United States government was spending
money "like a drunken sailor." The years since then have substantiated the truth of that observation.
The exorbitant cost of war production and the fan tastic waste involved in military spending has
prompted more and more citizens to inquire as to
just what war taxes are being spent on. War and taxes invariably go together, disgruntled
taxpayers discover. What are the options open to the citizen? Donald Kaufman in his book suggests
seven. The one Dr. Kaufman supports is the absolute refusal to file or pay. This is a direct form of civil
disobedience and any participant must be willing to bear the consequences. What Belongs to Caesar? contains all the arguments pro and con ? it will stimulate you to examine your own actions.
One reviewer said, "Don't read this book if you hate to think. Not only is it thought provoking but conscience pricking/'
