Limit Switches for Flow Meter improvedThe design of the contact box of the new
limit switches has been improved, so
that it is now much easier to assemble
the cables in to the cable clips. The new
cable clips are positioned on top of the
contact box and no more sideways as
before, which allows a faster and more
comfortable assembling of the cables.
The quality of the sealed reed contact
remains the same. The functionality and
the terminal connection table of the new
limit switches have not changed to the
prior version.

European countries attended the
annual Water Technology Summit
(WTS), that was hosted by GF
Piping Systems for the third time in
Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
Matching from the 2015
United Nations Climate Change
Conference’s goal to restrict global
warming to less than 2°C, this
year’s WTS main topic was how to
support that ambitious goal with new
process technologies and innovative treatment equipment.
The summit, a well established technology and networking
exchange event, was opened by GF Piping Systems’ new
president, Joost Geginat. He
pointed out how important the
role of developed economies is in
reducing greenhouse emissions.
Topics of the following speeches
included osmosis technology in
industrial waste water treatment
and simplification of pre-
treatment steps in desalination
plants by using ceramic flat sheet
membranes.
The total sum of 10 000 CHF
from guest participation will be handed over to the GF Clean
Water foundation in order to support drinking water projects in
remote areas worldwide.

GF publishes Sustainability Report 2015 At GF sustainability means acting responsibly as a company for the
long-term, to ensure a continuing success in business in harmony
with the environment and society. The Sustainability Report 2015
informs about GF’s initiatives and measures and illustrates through
three case studies our multifaceted engagement in the area of
sustainability. Moreover, the report gives an overview on the target
achievement of the last five years, and details the sustainability
targets 2020. GF publishes its key sustainability figures annually,
every two years in the form of a comprehensive report. The report
follows the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI 4) standard and is
validated externally.

BIG ideas become real1000mm ELGEF Plus coupler installed
The pipes need to be peeled with GF’s RST 1000 tool. Once coupler and electrofusion cables are adjusted in the correct position, the MSA machine 4.0 activates the actual fusion process.
In Kuningan, at the southern end of Jakarta, the water
service supplier PT. PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) is currently
constructing an underground pipeline. Palyia operates water
treatment plants for the processing of raw into clean water,
distribution centers and reservoirs. In early October, GF
supported the final jointing of two already installed HDPE legs
with an ELGEF Plus Coupler DN1000mm. This has been the
largest dimension used from the GF range to date.
Certified trainings and supervising the installation
Palyja, which had no experience with GF products, was
attracted by the easy handling and secure installation of
ELGEF Plus coupler. Installing such a long and large diameter
pipeline, ELGEF Plus was their right choice for peace of mind.
The installation took place at the beginning of October. Some
weeks before, GF Indonesia had demonstrated all advantages
and got all contractors trained and certified to handle the
upcoming fusion process. The installation itself couldn’t have
been more successful, with GF Indonesia and GF Singapore
supervising the installation process on site.

Florence on 25 May 2016. About thirty car owners were about to
regret parking in downtown Florence alongside the quay, with a view
of the Ponte Vecchio. Around noon, all of a sudden, a large part of the
embankment collapsed and came crashing down a number of meters.
A leaking cast iron water pipe washed away a massive amount of soil,
causing a giant hole with a swirling water mass, which swallowed the
parked cars and caused an enormous mess.
Water supply within 24 hours by means of a bypass
Within 24 hours the worst mess was cleaned up again and the water
supply for this part of town restored with a bypass. Then it was time to
assess the total damages: it will take a few months before all damages
can be repaired and the embankment can be restored. The water
company in Florence, Publiacqua S.p.A., applies the principle that new
suppliers of materials must go through a tough screening before they
can actually supply anything. Fortunately for the city, employees of GF
Italy had brought the MULTI/JOINT 3000 Plus system to the attention
of Publiacqua S.p.A. a number of times already, so the product had
already been approved for use in the network of Publiacqua S.p.A.
One of GF Piping Systems’ business partners, S.D.M. s.r.l., is located
in Calenzano, near Florence. The company supplies cast iron and PE
fittings and accessories to various gas and water companies. The
owner, Massimo Santini, also owns a transport company with trucks
that can carry 12,5 m long pipes. All of this came in very handy that day.

came down. They got in touch with GF Piping Systems and other

suppliers and were able to deliver the required materials
for the bypass in PE with the speed of lightning. The
supply of drinking water to the area was restored within
24 hours.
MULTI/JOINT 3000 Plus: Lifesaver for emergency
This was possible thanks to the local stock of products
at S.D.M. s.r.l. and good relations they have with their
suppliers. Two MULTI/JOINT 3000 Plus DN600 flange
adaptors were immediately supplied from the stock
to Publiacqua S.p.A. GF Italy supplied two additional
DN600 flange adaptors and eight ELGEF electrofusion
couplings d 500 mm very quickly from the GF Piping
Systems distribution centre in Italy. To the water
company of Florence, MULTI/JOINT 3000 Plus was a
lifesaver for this big emergency. The product offered
a true added value to the water company, the city of
Florence, S.D.M. s.r.l. and especially the inhabitants and
tourists of Florence.
