Fujitsu Semiconductor Technology Inc. is a semiconductor preprocessing manufacturer.Since the establishment in 2007, we have been working toward manufacturing with less environmental load.We established an environmental management system in 2007 and acquired ISO14001 Fujitsu Group integrated certification. As our company's main environmental activities, we introduced scrubber systems to greatly reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, such as perfluorocarbons (PFCs) in 2010. In 2011, all employees worked on energy-saving in response to a power saving request due to the electric power supply shortage. We continue to work to prevent global warming and reduce waste emissions and other environmental loads. Furthermore, we will promote activities that contribute to local communities and conserve biodiversity. The production line was damaged on March 11, 2011, together with Fujitsu Semiconductor Aizuwakamatsu Plant, which shares the same site with us, but the diligent efforts of our staff enabled us to restore operations early, ahead of other companies. This success greatly increased our customers’ confidence in us.As a member of the community, this plant will join in with that community to pursue environmental management, based on our awareness of the importance of environmental activities. We hope you will read this Environmental Report, as it is our tool for sharing information about our environmental activities.
Fujitsu Semiconductor Technology Inc. is a manufacturing plant for semiconductor preprocessing. We develop and manufacture semiconductor devices mainly including flash microcontrollers, flash memory, and CMOS logic products. Our products are used in a wide variety of applications, from communication equipment such as mobile phones to personal computers, car navigation equipment, andhome audio equipment.

3. Aim and Achievement in Environmental Activities
Objectives of activities in 20122012 is the last year of the 6th Fujitsu Group Environment Action Plan. The environment of investment is still severe, but we are still working on measures against global warming (CO2/PFC reduction), mainly consisting of power saving, as well as waste reduction, biodiversity conservation activities, and other efforts.

Green process activityFujitsu Semiconductor Technology develops green process activities that reduce costs and the environmental load by reducing the amount of chemical substances used in the production process. In 2011, we achieved a major reduction in usage by switching our exfoliation fluid, which has a major environmental impact, from batch type to wafer type.
In addition to cleaning around our plants, we are keen participants in local cleaning activities, which deepen links with the community. We present our environmental activities to the citizens of Aizuwakamatsu through ongoing exhibitions at the Environmental Festival, which is staged by the city.
We hold environmental seminars and environmental facility field trips for improving the environmental awareness of employees. We also issued "Environment Kawara Ban" for transmitting information on environmental activities and worked for "green curtains" and “removal of vending machines" as measures for power saving.
Green curtains
Power saving by introducing LED fluorescent lamps40 W fluorescent lamps in clean room maintenance area, business office, and common area in the factory were changed to LED to reduce 1,025 MWH/year (crude oil equivalent: 255 kl) of electric power. Moreover, the lighting in access aisles was reduced to the minimum. The lighting became slightly dark, however, all employees were happy with the power saving.
LED fluorescent lamps were replaced by our company

8. Compliance with Environment-Related Rules and Regulations
We perform periodic environmental analyses, in compliance with applicable environmental laws and ordinances, to prevent the occurrence of environmental risks. In 2011, we monitored the function of a newly constructed enhanced street gully, which was installed near the boundary of the site.We also run regular health and safety patrols, implement risk assessments in all workplaces, hold safety conferences with partner companies (58 companies), and other measures to maintain and improve a safe workplace environment.

9. Environmental Accounting
We periodically check changes of regulations, codes, and compliance. In 2011, there was no violation of laws and regulations. For the environmental analysis of discharge water from factories, we have not detected any values in excess of prefectural ordinances.

(Supplementary) How to calculate the chemical substancesINPUT: amount of chemical substances used, which is the target of PRTR law in factoriesOUTPUT: calculated by being multiplied by total emissions or total exhausts after measuring the concentration emitted from water drainage ports or exhaust ports of chemical substance factories, which is the target of PRTR law, or calculated based on input and output amounts of chemical substances*1: the emission of NOx and Sox is the combustion exhaust gas from boilers. It is a commonly used facility of Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited Aizuwakamatsu Plant, so the emissions are the same.
