Dear FBLA-PBL Partners and Supporters:

2019 was an amazing year for Iowa FBLA-PBL and I am delighted to present you with our first-ever Impact Report, which illustrates the ways we drove positive impact this past year by developing future business leaders.

This year was a record for Iowa FBLA-PBL by any measure. Iowa FBLA hit an all-time high of members with double-digit increases in PBL. The 2019 FBLA State Leadership Conference hit record attendance with 925+ members, advisers, and volunteers.

We couldn’t do it without you. Achievements were made in three key areas –Service, Education, and Progress – were powered by our gracious donors, partners, supporters, and volunteers. Each one of you is key to Iowa FBLA-PBL’s success and impact on Iowa’s youth, providing educational resources, strengthening existing programs and activities and launching our first year of 100% scholarships.

How will you have an impact today? As we embark upon new initiatives and set out a course for future growth and impact in 2020 and beyond. Thank you for growing with us, from our early roots to today’s cutting-edge student organization.

EXPLORE. EXPERIENCE. ENGAGE.More students than ever before explored Iowa FBLA by becoming members at the local, state and national level in 2019 - a record-breaking year. Student members were afforded the opportunity to take part in the premier business student organization in the world. More attendees than ever before experienced Iowa FBLA’s educational conferences and leadership development opportunities. A record-breaking number of students, advisers and guests attended the State Fall Leadership Conference and the annual State Leadership Conference. During 2019, Iowa FBLA saw more alumni, parents, community members, educational institutions and businesses engaged with individual students, advisers, local chapters. They participated in our statewide events through time commitments, financial support and developing future business leaders of our great state.

The State Leadership Conference is Iowa’s largest conference of the FBLA year. Comprised of 87 individual or team events, the conference could not function successfully without the help of our dedicated volunteers. These volunteers are made up of school chaperones, parents, business and industry professionals, Professional Division members, past State Officers, and past members.

In preparation for SLC, an emphasis was placed on increasing partnerships. Your generosity helped raise over $17,000, allowing 105 students to receive a cash scholarship.The first annual Senior Social event for

all 12th-grade students was supported by UNI Business. The event was designed to increase networking and encourage enrollment into Phi Beta Lambda.

Over 233 Iowa delegates traveled to San Antonio, Texas to compete against members from all across the United States. Iowa is proud to say, three students placed nationally. Newly elected Region 2 Vice President, Trae Hall of Chariton placed 9th in Political Science. Laurel Holger place 6th in Computer Applications from Fairfield High School. Past Region 2 Vice President, Jared Middlebrook from Wayne placed 2nd in Job Interview.

I never imagined I could live the dream of every FBLA member by getting to walk across the stage at NLC. FBLA helped prepare me for my future and I think most importantly helped me in my communications skills to become an entrepreneur and run our family business. Now I get to impact my community by helping develop the next generation of future business leaders. – Jared Middlebrook

BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

The Business Achievement Awards (BAA) is a leadership development program for high school students that is easy to complete inside or outside of the classroom. Students enhance their leadership skills, expand their business knowledge, contribute to their local communities, and earn recognition by immersing themselves in their school, community, and FBLA programs.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

The FBLA Community Service Awards (CSA) recognizes FBLA members for their extraordinary commitment to community service. It has three levels of recognition, based on the cumulative number of hours a member contributes to community service activities, Community - 50 hours, Service - 200 hours, and Achievement - 500 hours. CSA hours are cumulative and build throughout an FBLA member’s career.

35 years ago, sitting in the back of a business classroom at Eagle Grove High School, I never would’ve imagined I would be teaching business, working hand-in-hand with my high school business teacher, or giving back to the organization that gave so much to me.

Fast forward to today, and I’m proud to support Iowa FBLA as the Director of Partnerships and Supports. This organization has grown so much in the past 30 years, yet there is so much work that remains.

YOU help develop future business leaders.

Developing the next generation of business leaders is our top priority. Our future looks bright, especially with your help. Iowa FBLA is always looking for individuals and entities to support or partner with our organization to strive in 2020.
