2. Methodology Statement

By definition, the Architect and Engineer of Record plays a supporting role to theBy definition, the Architect and Engineer of Record plays a supporting role to theDesign Consultant, taking his design concept and preliminary planning to fruition.This includes receiving the Schematic Design documents from him, and thenundertaking all the tasks specified in the RFP and confirmed in this, our proposal forthe project.

In that role, we expect that the design developed by the Design Consultant issufficiently advanced so that it contains the needed design information from all neededsufficiently advanced so that it contains the needed design information from all neededsub-consultants, such as acoustical consultants, façade specialists, and the like, and thatthese sub-consultants have been retained for the duration of the design contract. As afurther clarification, our understanding of the term “Design Consultant” for this projectincluded The Architect, the structural engineer, the MEP Consultant and other normalspecialty consultants. The Schematic design documents we expect will clearly defineproject design details, floor layouts, building elevations and sections, façade details, the

l (i l di li i i i f ll l l ) d h b istructural system (including preliminary sizing of all structural elements), and the basicMEP design (including system selection, preliminary sizing, and a block layout ofneeded equipment and distribution pathways).

All work will be performed in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia with our own qualifiedstaff. When needed, support staff from our joint venture office, and the quality controleffort will be directed from there using the firms ISO 9000 procedures manual.

Our normal internal process calls for a formal weekly coordination meetingsupplemented by numerous ad hoc coordination sessions. In dealing with the Clientand Design Consultant, a regular bi-weekly conference, either in our offices or viavideo conference, is envisioned. These sessions will insure frequent directcommunications leading to prompt resolution of open issues, and a Client review ofprogress at each meeting. The entire process will be attentive to Client requirementsp g g p qand to important cost control issues.

Construction cost estimates and BOQ will utilize RICS certified methodology and wepropose to measure the project using the Principles of Measurement International(POMI.)

Building SelectionBCCI Construction’s headquarters in based within the Soma district within San Francisco. The BCCI Office Expansion project at 185 Berry is pursuing a ‘LEED‐CI Gold Certification’: from the US Green Building Council. The following narrative provides certain key characteristics of the project and highlights of the various sustainable design and construction features that will be incorporated.Building Materials – Recycled Content / Indoor Air Quality• The planned floors provide 6,898 new feet of open offices, conferencing space and support areas. Many of the existing space was retained including interior walls, doors, ceilings and floors, enabling the project to pursue MRc1, Building Reuse.• Recycling collection points have been placed throughout the space and a green housekeeping policy is in place.• The building has an Environmental Tobacco Smoke policy of no smoking in the building, and has identified exterior smoking areas located over 25 feet from the entrance, and away from the buildings air intake.• BCCI is aiming to reuse over 60% of the existing interior walls• BCCI is aiming to reuse over 60% of the existing interior walls
