Gas Turbine
Power Plant
150 MWe
South of Italy
GALAXIA Code PP 07-15
2 / 13
A. GENERAL INFORMATION
The power plant is in an excellent condition and well maintained. Currently used as a
stand-by power station it regularly proofs its capability to smoothly run according
to its needs. Equipped with an emergency diesel it is capable of black start
operation.
The station provides a total installed capacity of 147 MWe, consists of three (3) Gas
turbines type GE LM 6000 PC Sprint, 49 MWe each, and by design is offering a
significant advantage to the interconnected system, i.e. a very quick start-up
reaching its maximum capacity performance in only 20 minutes.
The offered scope of supply is all the equipment for a complete plant (turnkey) i.e.
from gas supply including gas compressor and reducing station up to the 150 kV
SF6 substation and requires no additional equipment to be installed at the new
site.
The plant is being sold „as it is and where it is“. In agreement with the seller plant
surveys are possible as well as attending trial runs or boroscopic inspections.
B. OPERATIONAL DATA
C. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POWER PLANT
a) GAS TURBINES
Three (3) gas turbines General Electric type LM6000 PC Sprint with a nominal
power of 49,254 MW or 147.762 MW plant output @ ISO conditions. Water
(demineralized) injection system is available in order to reduce the NOx
emissions and to increase the power output at high ambient temperatures. The
GTs is equipped for dual fuel (gas and/or diesel no 2).

Fig 2: Gas turbine type LM 6000 PC Sprint
The LM6000 is a split rotor, concentric drive shaft GT. The main components
consist of a variable inlet guide vane (VIGV) assembly, a 5-stage low-pressure
compressor (LPC), a 14-stage variable geometry high pressure compressor
(HPC), an annular combustor, a 2-stage high pressure turbine (HPT), a 5-stage
low pressure turbine (LPT), a Flender gearbox (AGB) assembly, and accessories.
The 2-stage HP turbine (same shaft) turns the 14-stage HP compressor @ 10600
rpm. The 5-stage LP turbine turns at 3600 rpm the 5-stage LP compressor and
via the gearbox the Generator at the 3000rpm synchronous speed.

e) BOP SYSTEM
Water Treatment Plant
It consists of two identical demineralizing water production lines; one main and
one stand-by, with a capacity of 30m3/h each. In case of an emergency
situation both lines can operate in parallel with a maximum production of 60
m3/h.
The quality of the demineralized water should meet the following specification:
o SILICATE <100ppb
o CONDUCTIVITY <1 μS/cm
The main equipment (each line) consists of:
o Active carbon filter
o Cation resin filter
o CO2 de-gasifier_
6 / 13
o Anion resin filter
Instrument & Service Air System

Fire Protection System
It consists of 2 units, each one of 1 diesel pump, 1 electrical pump and 1 jockey
pump. Moreover, demineralized water is used as mean for the fire protection
of the transformers, so there the second set of the same pumps is used for that
purpose.

Liquid Fuel System (Diesel)
The power plant is designed to use both gas as primary fuel or diesel as
secondary fuel for power production. The diesel fuel is stored on site by means
of a 2’500 m3 storage tank. The diesel fuel should pass through a centrifugal
separator (ALFA LAVAL) prior it is forwarded to the daily tank (500 m3) feeding
the units via pumps and filters.

Gas Receiving Station (GRS)
It consists of two lines, where the main line has a regulator and the stand by
line has no regulator. The GRS also comprises a gas compressor 46 barg to
balance the pressure swings in the gas pipeline, a condensate tank and a
gas preheating.
Hot Water System (Boilers)
It consists of two gas fuelled boilers (2x100%). They can operate in parallel at
low ambient temperatures. The boilers supply hot water to the RMS in order to
warm the gas that feeds the units and also feeds the anti-icing system of #3.

Tanks
at the plant there are the fallowing tanks installed;
o 2 x 1’000 m3 for raw water storage
o 1 x 500 m3 for demi water storage and fire protection of the transformers
o 6 x 100 m3 for demi water storage
o 1 x 2’500 m3 for diesel fuel storage_
o 1 x 500 m3 for diesel daily storage
Please note that tanks > 500 m3 might be replaced (local supply).
Steel Structures
Apart from the electrical building all buildings are made from bolted steel
structures which are easily to dismantle and to relocate (fire fighting, raw
water, demi water pumps, demi water treatment, heating boilers and air
compressors).
Generator synchronizing & protection and black start diesel are in containers.
