Student Empowerment.
A great deal of empowerment is given to the students on regular basis during the entire two years of MBA
at GBS. This is done through a formal structure known as GMG (GBS Management Guild).
GMG has various committees headed by students. These committees to name a few are sports, cultural,
academics, canteen, industry visit, industry institute interface, house keeping and like.
Through these committees the students are encouraged and empowered to organize activities year long.
This enables team work and leadership skills and presents a platform to showcase talents.

in the second batch.

The placement seasons begins in Nov/Dec every year. GBS has achieved 100% placement by getting
companies to the campus and placing all the students desirous of placement.
Berger Paints, Career- net, American Express, Pantaloon, ITC, SBI Life, Axis Bank, Tops group,
Vodafone are some companies that picked up GBS students. Each student thus got 4 to 5 openings to

A good match of student profile to the job profile is the hall mark of placement at GBS.

GBS: WHERE CONSISTENCY IS A WAY OF LIFE.
Global Business School, popularly known as GBS is an educational institution by GEN Society promoted in
2007 to offer 2 year MBA course under the university system.
The idea of GBS is a result of meeting of minds among academicians, industry experts, the businessmen
and likeminded. It is a Corporate B School.
Intellectual Capital and Learning Process and Support.
Backed up by a good blend of faculty with a collective experience of over 160 years of teaching and
industry GBS strives to provide rigorous academic inputs with classroom contact hours as well as the
projects and field work spread over the entire duration of two years . Out of 16 faculty at GBS 3 hold Phd, 3
have registered for Phd, 1 is SELT qualified,50% of the faculty come with industry experience ranging upto
18 years. The entire faculty is involved in various paper writing in their area and GBS collectively has 50
papers to its faculty credit this academic year. This makes intellectual capital of GBS rich and enables the
class room teaching close to the business world.
Besides its own faculty, the Corporate involvement in curriculum gives GBS an edge in the academics
rigor. Corporates are involved in project evaluation, experience sharing, industry mentors in internship.
The regular interaction with practicing managers in industry in the industry institute interface session at
GBS on weekly basis facilitate the students to know the working at industry as well as enrich with the
experiences given by experts/practicing managers.
The learning is supported by the semi-circular classroom which is the uniqueness of GBS infra, making
the learning environment healthy and interesting. Further the Wi-Fi enabled campus supports the
learning ambience.
Realizing that students spend majority of their time on campus GBS has set up the canteen helping the
students with all the dietary needs during the day time. The breakfast/lunch time help the students to
spend the time together enabling the team spirit.
The library with over 1300 titles and 4080 volumes coupled with over 70 magazines and journals
learning CDs gives a constant back up to the students in the learning process.
While the library is there, it is also a practice GBS attaches lot of value with by giving a set of books per
semester to each student so that by the end of two year MBA each student will have built a small personal
library and thereby always has one book in a subject to refer even after the course is over.
Student Empowerment.
The two year stay of student is made rewarding through the empowerment at student level.
The student association called as GMG presents each student to showcase his/her talents in academics,
sports, cultural, leadership and like enabling the management learning in practice and giving the
confidence so necessary when the students start their career in Business world joining the Corporates.
17
During the its existence of last FIVE years, GBS has many credentials to be proud of - students
getting Rank in the first two batches speak volumes of academic process.
Sports
Perhaps GBS is the only MBA institute under Karnataka University to host yearly sports meet “
PINNACLE” since inception and has FIVE such meets in as many years. This is a drawing force for some of
best sports talent to MBA at GBS. The various University Blues in Volley ball, Cricket, Badminton, Basket
ball, Gymnastics have done their MBA at GBS in these years. This legacy continues batches after batches.
Yearly Pinnacle builds in sportsmanship, leadership and team work culture in students so vital in today’s
Corporate world.
The FOUR consecutive championships in sports highlight the importance given to the sports
activities and student performance in sports.
The formally organized Pinnacle gives opportunity to select few students to show case their sports
talent knowing this well GBS makes a point to involve each student in sports by organizing Intra-Pinnacle
again every year.
Parents Meet : Bhumika
Involvement of Parents at PG level is a rare one because of the grown up students however
Parents are an integral part at GBS because GBS knows their role in shaping the life of their wards. The
yearly parents meet “Bhumika” since 2008 integrates the parents with GBS. This gives them a platform to
interact with teachers, members of management and fellow parents.
Bhumika has another important flavor for all. The GBS management has instituted GOLD and
SILVER medals for the students of passing out batch in academics, sports and leadership. This practice is
since the first batch which passed out in 2009 and so far FOUR such batches have been awarded in yearly
BHUMIKA. The Joy of the student to receive the medal in the presence of his/her parents is a life time
experience GBS has been giving year after year.
The selection trials for the award is a rigor filled exercise involving a panel consisting of teachers,
industry experts. The shortlisted students are put through a grilling process applying the Balanced Score
card method to take a holistic look at the student’s performance.
Management Day.
All India Management Association celebrates 21st February as the Management Day every year.
GBS being the management institute has aligned itself to this occasion by hosting a special lecture by the
people of eminence. This is a yearly affair since 2008 and continues.

18
Women’s Day.
Realizing important part played by women and the need for women leadership GBS has been
giving special importance to the International Womans day. The leading woman personality is part of this
occasion sharing the experience in the formal interaction. Its all Girls students and lady staff that day since
inception.
Management Fest : GALACTO & GBS UTSAV.
Learning is best achieved when mixed with fun. From 2008 GBS has been organizing the
Management Fest “ GALACTO” by-yearly. THREE such Galacto in last Five years has go from strength to
strength and every batch has had the experience of organizing the galacto during its association of two
years at GBS. The two day national level fest adds immense learning to the students bringing to test their
organizing skills, problem solving abilities, marketing/selling skills, time management, hospitality issues
and so on. Galacto of 2008,2010 and 2012 are a fond memories GBS has given to its students.
For the benefit of under graduate level students the by-yearly GBS Utsav is another management
fest GBS conducts helping the GBS students to get in touch with their junior students of their degree
college.
Teachers Day.
Teachers shape the institutions and build them. Teachers do long for some acknowledgement
particularly after the formal career days are over. From inception GBS is honoring two teachers yearly on
teachers day on 5th Sept. Besides this the students organize the programme for the GBS teachers.
Alumni Meet : Reminiscence.
The formal association of students with the institute comes to an end with the prescribed time of
formal education is put through. However the relationship is never ending this makes the alumni as major
stakeholder. GBS has been hosting home coming event yearly since 2011 making the occasion formal by
Alumni meet “Reminiscence” This occasion not only presents the past student a single point to meet and
get back to their student days and memory but presents a good net working time for all the students of all
the batches. With 3 batches of total 180 students already in the field and another 120 slated to join every
year the Reminiscence is a rising occasion and has immense potential to GBS students.
Though the yearly reminiscence at GBS is there but in Bangalore lot of students meet their career
opportunity and as such many students make it a home. Realizing this GBS has started the Bangalore
Chapter namely “ Aapsme” to enable a common regular meeting point every month. One such at Hubli is
on the cards. The Alumni convention keeps the students in the loop even after they finish their formal two
year engagement at GBS.
Placement.
The Placement is an important phase in students’ stay at any institute. GBS knows it very well. The
placement build up happens from the 1st year through required skill training and preparation. Yearly 30
19
to 40 companies are put in queue for the placement and all the care is taken to get the companies suitable
to the student profile and aspiration. GBS has consistently achieved full placement for last FOUR years
in tune with the employment scenario prevailing in the environment.
The huge employment opportunity for the under graduate level students has drawn GBS to fulfill
its responsibility to the student community. Last two years GBS has hosted placement drive in association
with TCS and given opportunity to many students ( 200 students )at under graduate level to get the
employment with the prestigious TCS.
In the Globalised world exposure is not a luxury but a necessity. The international exposure puts in
enormous confidence in students. Through the international industry visits GBS is helping the students in
this area of confidence building.
Ratings and Rankings.
For all this consistency GBS has been rated with “A” ranking by Business India, “38th” ranking at
National Level, by “Electronics for you” magazine, “B-3” by Business Standard, “138th” by Week-Mars, B by
ICMR 4Ps, One among the best 44 B Schools by GHRDC, GBS Infrastructure referred by Interior magazine.
All this stands as a testimony of a sound footing that GBS has placed itself on.
With such institutionalized process GBS is well received by students community and the society as
an institution of TOP choice for MBA. Today it GBS means MBA.
Intake.
GBS has the intake of 120 students per year. The student recruitment happens through a state level and
the national level entrance test scores like PGCET/CEMAT/MAT/CAT/KMAT.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY Learn to be tolerant says Dr. Anupama Pandurangi
Global Business School, Hubli organized the International Women’s Day on 8/3/2012 at its premised in Bhairidevarkoppa to celebrate the International Women’s Day. Addressing the students on this occasion the famous clinical psychologist , Dr. Anupama Pandurangi spoke on female/women related issues. By nature, woman has to learn tolerance, this tolerance helps her to make adjustment.
Adjustment is a part of woman life because marriage puts her into different culture from her parents house to in-laws house. This tolerance helps her to make adjustments. Women plays various roles like housewife, working woman, mother, daughter-in-law, grandmother etc. However the nuclear family system is a damp on woman these days. The upbringing of girl child [one or at least two] the parents try to make them equal to male child or much equivalent, this gives her the complex. The superiority/inferiority complex leads to drastic reduction in tolerance level. This trend is on the rise. The low tolerance level is showing into mental stress, drug addiction, divorces, and irritation and family problems. She called upon therefore that parents should change the upbringing practices and from childhood teach tolerance and adjustment. Commenting upon adolescent period in the life, Dr.Pandurangi said it is a delicate period and needs proper channeling of behavior. The various changes taking place around poses lot of attraction and if the behavior is not channeled properly one could easily succumb to the attraction leading to problems. Citing various cases she came across as doctor she cautioned not to heed to unknown mobile calls/messages, social networking etc.

GALACTO ‘12 – A NATIONAL LEVEL MANAGEMENT FEST
Global Business School, Hubli (GBS) started in the year 2007, to offer the course in Business Management
at the Post graduate level, under affiliation to Karnatak University, Dharwad with the approval of AICTE,
New Delhi. GBS has seen 5 successful years of its services to the student community. During the short span
of 5 years, GBS has many things to be proud of, namely
Two rank holders to the University
Yearly inter collegiate Sports meet, ‘Pinnacle
4 time GC in Pinnacle
Regular yearly Parents meet, ‘Bhumika’
Bi yearly management fest, ‘Galacto’
Yearly Management Day celebration with a special lecture
Yearly celebration of International Women’s Day to claim a few.
In the year of its inception, the students of the I Batch came up with the idea of organizing the
Management Fest, which they named as ‘GALACTO’, the 60 students of the I Batch made history by
organizing Galacto-08 in the year 2008. The
institution which was barely a few months old in
the year 2008, and having barely gotten a name,
and neither having all the requirements for a
management fest of a mega scale, the students of
the first batch decided to unite and put a spirit
there would rise above all constraints, and thus was
born ‘Galacto’.
The team GBS then thought to have students of
every batch carry the memory of Galacto and
decision was taken that once in two years Galacto
will be organized.
Keeping in this tradition, a II Galacto was organized in
the year 2010 in the premises of GBS. The Galacto
2010 saw a much better development, with the
student’s strength of 120 and the success of Galacto
2010 kept the spirit soaring high.
Keeping the legacy on, GBS this year is organized its
3rd Galacto on 25th, 26th and 27th March 2012 at its
premises, from U-Mall at Koppikar Road and Hotel
Mayur near Navalur managing the event at three
locations successfully taking care of the various
logistics and co-ordination issues

This year’s Galacto has chosen ‘Entertainment’ as its theme. The idea behind this theme is in today’s high-
stress work and pressure, people tend to have the need to relaxation in some way or the other,
Entertainment provides major relaxation and acts as stress reliever. Entertainment re-energizes the
stressed mind, which makes the people refreshed and energized to get back to work. To convey this
message, this theme is selected; traditionally Cinema being the major entertainer, for all these years, the
guests were chosen from the film industry.
Shri. Rakesh Adiga, a noted Kannada actor, was the Chief Guest for Inaugural, Shri. T S Nagabharana, the

golden period for the students which one can realize
only after they go out of the college. The entertainment
is a perpetual part of the life. He called upon the
students to spend their time during the college days
fruitfully.
In the evening during the Cultural, Mr. Rakesh Adiga
presented one hour entertainment giving his best on
songs, raps, and narrating various film dialogues thereby entertaining the student audience to the core.
In the valedictory, the Guest Shri. T S
Nagabharana, highlighted the importance of
entertainment and said that entertainment
touched everybody, every moment of
everybody’s life. It’s very difficult to imagine a
life without the entertainment, A Film
producer is no less than a doctor or an
engineer or a scientist or any person of repute,
because he sees the life much closer through
all walks of life. As a result he occupies a very
position in the society. In the end he
distributed the prizes to the winners and
congratulated all of them.
For Galacto, 15 teams have participated from all the parts of Karnataka, and from the neighboring states of
Goa and Maharashtra. The events were organized around the main theme of Galacto 12. These 15 teams
will made up to 250 students as participants. The various games designed are for Marketing, Finance, Hr,
Leadership, Communication and event Management and General Knowledge, these games provided a
31

ALUMNI SPEAK
Student Name: Preeti Pawar, Batch: 2009-11 I am Preeti Pawar student of batch 3 [2009-11]. Two years stay at GBS was really memorable one. When I joined this institution it was just 2 year old institution, being young institution I had less expectation from the college. Later as days passed I found this college follows unique approach in teaching & grooming students, at present this is one of the best colleges in North Karnataka. Institution is not only into academics but encourages lots of extracurricular activity; sports event - Pinnacle, management fest- Galacto, GBS Utsav. These events gave me a platform to showcase my talent. I got an opportunity to conduct CSR activity for which I am really thankful to GBS. Industry Institute interface (III) sessions conducted gave us few insights on corporate & how to choose specific stream to excel in our careers. Designing of assignments are done in such way that it brings out conceptual learning by which we are exposed to the field, know the difficulties & technicalities. Every assignment or project contains lot of learning when done with seriousness. I enjoyed finance classes. Be it SAPM, M&A, IFM, Derivatives & many more. We have ED cell [Entrepreneurship development] guided by Deshpande Foundation & in house faculty which gives an opportunity to aspiring entrepreneurs to perform. Placements has geared up here, lot of good companies are visiting campus. On a whole this institution brings transformation in student’s life. For this I would like to acknowledge management & three pillars of GBS Dr. Ramakant Kulkarni, Dr. Prashant Yatgiri, and Prof Ashok Patil who put their best efforts in mentoring students. I would like to express my gratitude to each faculty who put sincere efforts to make us better person & ready for corporate careers. Finally without the support of admin staff & support staff the journey would not have been such a smooth one. Thanks to GBS family. I Wish GBS good luck & a great success.

Student Name: Ninaad Musale, Batch: 2009-11 I feel that I am very much lucky that I joined GBS; GBS gave me good opportunity to grow my interest and gave a platform to showcase my capabilities. I was interested to take up HR as my career from school days so I took HR subject as my career choice. It helped me a lot to understand how the HR functions in corporate world. I got the practical hand on the management aspect when I had to manage the industrial trip for my batch, which gave me practical exposure. Talking about project; I got a good practical knowledge about the how the industry (ITC) functions & worked on the topic called “Employee Engagement with Fun Activities”. This project was awarded as best project for spring summer-2010 by the company. I was the highest scorer in the Viva; this was possible because of the inputs and constant guidance at GBS and by my faculty. My good analytical skill to handle given situation and ability to convince was well recognized by GBS by a gold medal which was awarded to me. I take this as a honor for me. My parents are proud of my achievement. The gold medal proves that, I done better in HR and thanks to GBS for grooming me and helping me to unleash my hidden talents. Thank you
Student Name: Chinmaya Hiremath, Batch: 2009-11 GBS has a culture of providing autonomy to students, which helps students to explore their own strengths and weaknesses. Thus through this 2 year course I explored my strengths and weaknesses and overcame with some of the weaknesses too. GBS is such a platform to me where I learnt professionalism, interpersonal skills and time management. This will definitely help me in practical life too. Also GBS has given me practical learning along with theoretical insights irrespective of marketing, finance and HR area which will ease me to understand my job in corporate world in future. This could be possible only by experienced teaching fraternity of GBS.So I am deeply humble and take immense pleasure to thank GBS for giving me such a valuable recognition. It is recognition of efforts which I have put into. Through this recognition I am motivated to succeed in my career path and excel and achieve my career goals. Thus with deep gratitude I thank Director Dr.Prashant Yatgiri and Director-academics Dr.Ramakant Kulkarni and all the faculties for providing me support throughout 2 years. There are some moments in our lives when emotions take the better of us. And such moment I experienced while receiving gold and silver medal for “Overall” and “HR” category respectively. And finally I thank almighty for giving me strength to proceed in life and parents for immense support to excel throughout. Thank you.

Student Name: Monika Gunalan, Batch: 2008-10 It gives me immense pleasure in introducing myself as Monika Gunalan, a student of second batch (2008-10) of GBS. It is a privilege to write about my GBS and the two valuable years spent there. I still remember the first day of college where all of us had come with lot of hopes and dreams to do MBA at GBS which was just a one year old baby. I had selected this college by choice in spite of having lot of other options. So my level of expectation from this college was a little higher. I am happy for having taken the right decision at that time. Today I can proudly say I am a product of GBS…! It’s been a great journey of two years for me at GBS. I was able to learn many things which added value to my life. Now when I look back I feel the changes. I can recall all the classes attended, be it Prashant Sir’s Marketing classes, Kiran Ma’am’s HR classes, Ramakant Sir’s and Ashok Sir’s finance classes, Amrita Ma’am’s technical subjects. The learning was so effective that it still remains fresh in mind. I have learnt good problem handling skills and stress management, more particularly how to meet deadlines by completing assignments overnight. All those group tasks and projects which compelled us to stay awake the entire night. Our batch was instrumental in making GALACTO-10 happen. This would not have been possible without the support of Management, Faculty members who constantly motivated us and made it happen and of course our admin and support staff. It was great fun organizing each and every event which was unique in its own way; the fests like Phoenix, other events like Mentoring workshop, Bhumika the parents meet, freshers party, farewell, Pinnacle, etc etc..! Our batch also won General championship for two consecutive years in sports which was mainly possible with the unstinted support of both the Directors. The best part of GBS is when you do something good, your work is recognized thoroughly and you feel its worth doing it..! And according to me GBS has given me a platform to develop myself fully so that I am ready to excel in the industry. The stay of two years was great fun, along with great knowledge and helped me widen my horizon. It was a second home because the learning environment provided to us was so amazing. I wish GBS a great success and may it achieve greater heights! Cheerz to the entire team of GBS..! Thanking you,
Monika Gunalan.

Student Name: Tahemeem Tazeemtark, Batch: 2008-10 Hello every one Its Tahemeem Tazeemtark. Its makes me feel proud when someone asks me from which college you did your MBA? The reason behind why I feel proud is not that I like people asking me about GBS but I took admission in a college in which I wanted to go. I remember still that day on 22nd September 2008 the first day at GBS. I was confused about I took right decision or not, but after meeting the faculties like Dr. Ramakant kulkarni, Dr.Prashant Yatgiri, Dr.Ramesh kulkarni, Prof Kiran Magavi, Ashok Patil, M.N Manik and others it was clear that with the faculties who has the art of shaping the students that is why the college has become favorite for student. I personally feel that I have learnt lot many things and still learning in corporate from the guidance given by faculties. I always cherish the Assignments for which 24 hours are less in a day to complete, Live projects, Seminars, Presentations, Night outs, paying for attending the classes late, Guest lectures, Surprise tests, Counseling & its was a real experience still I apply that learning in my job, each and every moment I spent in college is what I cherish and miss through out my life. The preparation of GALACTO and Intra college event was awesome experience and the kind of support from management and faculty gave us a confidence and motivation to make event successful. The initiative like Felicitation of internship guides, “Bhumkia” a Parents meet, Pinnacle, Fun days, Fresher’s and Farewell. are the activities which is the USP of the GBS and that is way the GBS makes difference to the student by motivating, encouraging and enhancing the knowledge of the students. Interesting thing of GBS is tones of assignments but I never felt any time the burden of it in doing MBA, infact I took MBA itself as a project and completed smoothly. I just miss my faculties, Quarrels, issues, lectures, My favorite last row seat and many more. GBS has given me that Recognition which I aimed at my graduation and I am always thankful to GBS forgiving me such recognition. I extend my thanks to Management and faculties and all those who are connected to the GBS for making my 2 years a memorable learning period. I wish GBS a bright future and it will definitely achieve its Vision ASAP. Regards Tahemeem.T

Student Name: Deepa Halyal, Batch: 2008-10 I, Miss Deepa Halyal, wanted to pursue post graduation course. My urge was to study MBA course in Hubli only. I was very lucky enough to get a seat at Global Business School which is situated in Hubli. It was totally an unknown college for me. When I went for the admission, was very impressed with the infrastructure of the college. As soon as I started attending the classes, was impressed with the punctuality and discipline. Later on, I made out that individual attention was given which helped me solve different queries. The sports and cultural activities conducted at the University and the college level enthused students. The problems of students were discussed and solved which is one of the good features of this college. The feedbacks were taken from students often and improvements were made. The campus selection process of the college is very impressive. The food provided by the college helped students to save time and concentrate on studies. The parents’ meets are conducted every year where all parents are invited and make them known about the college activities and achievements. Overall I am very happy about my stay at the college which has helped me build my career. I wish Global Business School all success and glory in the future. Regards Deepa Halyal Student Name: Aditi Katagade, Batch: 2008-10 The day I was declared as a graduate from KUD I didn’t know what next. It was a last minute decision that I’ll be doing my Masters in Business Administration. The next question was ’which college’? Checked with all the colleges of Hubli, Dharwad and Belgaum but received a good response only from one college that was ‘Global Business School’. GBS was like my second home. Spent maximum hours in college be it study, assignments, fun, night outs etc. but at the end of the day was satisfied that there was value addition in whatever we did. Today in corporate I’m able to handle pressures and at the same time perform well only because of the learning I had at GBS. Thanks to GBS FAMILY (faculties and friends). I really miss you GBS. Regards Aditi Katagade

Student Name: Richa.Shah Batch: 2007-09 Now when I sit back and evaluate the decision made for joining GBS as it was the new born child then, I feel it was worth taking that risk!!! GBS..The name which was quiet unknown some 2years before and now it’s known to every other person in and around twin city as well as across Karnataka is because of its SPIRIT to excel and the UNIQUE approach of delivering. We would have heard about students been given the rights but you will truly feel that at GBS where the students play the major role. Besides the concepts, we were made more aware of the practicality. Being the part of Marketing group I had best time learning it with Dr Prashant.Yatgiri. The clashes between the students and the professors were taken in a right spirit. The discussions were encouraged. I hardly remember a single day in entire 2 years where in we were out without any assignments and projects. I enjoyed strategic management the most. I still cherish the overnight presentation on Kingfisher Airlines. I remember my Finance classes with Prof.Ashok & Dr.Ramakant. Never knew that Finance can be made so simple. I had best time at GBS in terms of bonding, knowledge sharing, grooming, and slogging with assignments and of course enjoying too. It was pretty difficult to digest the completion of MBA at the end of 2 years because no one would like to let go their best days. Well, but the learning spirit and desire to achieve the heights kept me going. The spark enlightened by GBS in me will be always alive. And it makes me happy to say that I am PROUD TO BE THE PART OF GBS !!! Regards, Richa.Shah

Student Name: Naveen Guledgudd Batch: 2007-09 I am Naveen Guledgudd, a student of the 1st batch 2007-09, in fact the 1st General Secretary of GBS. It is indeed a great pleasure for me to write about GBS. The learning which happens here is incredible. Students who are not interested in theory also attended the classes because of the way they are conducted. Every MBA student is ought to know the current affairs in Business and we were always made aware of such things by discussions about business through games indirectly would cover the required syllabus as well which was enjoyed by us. This would not be possible without the able faculty members. Each faculty has the expertise of his/her field with which they would impart the required knowledge to us in a unique way. Everyone knows that the academic process is the USP of GBS. Although it is so, all the non-academic activities are given equal importance as well. Because of which we the 1st batch were able to come up with so many events which were a great success. As a General Secretary I would not have been able to succeed in conducting those events without the support of the Management members, Director Ramakant Kulkarni, Academics Director Dr.Prashant Yatgiri, prof manoj dolli, Prof Kiran Magavi, Prof.Ashok Patil and also the admin and support staff. GALACTO-08 was the biggest success of our batch and it is quite fresh in my mind. The efforts put by us paid off and the feedback received is a testimony for it. After which the international tour to Malaysia was an awesome experience in organizing it and also enjoying it by being there. All the other events which our batch organized is unique and memorable in its own way be it, the industrial tours, the parents meet Bhumika, the intra-college fests, fresher’s party etc etc.. Overall, the stay at GBS for 2 years was great fun along with great learning..! GBS is one of its kinds in the entire North Karnataka because of its culture and the environment provided for students to learn and also to express their ideas and talents. Cheerz to Management members, Faculty members and the entire team of GBS..! I wish GBS achieves great heights..! Thanking you, Naveen Guledgudd.

Student Name: Sameer Hunashikatti, Batch: 2007-09 I’m really proud to be associated with this college,When I saw this college for the first time in June 2007 the building was still under construction, the decision to choose this college was highly risky as it was still in inception stage. But today after looking back I’m glad that I had chosen this college because it helped me to build my career and develop a sense of confidence in me. Today GBS has its own identity in the twin city as well as in North Karnataka with it’s “SPIRIT to excel” and “INIMITABLE approach of delivering”. Lectures were combined with rigorous field work which made us to understand the practicality of the real world market. Being a marketing student I enjoyed the classes of Dr Prashant.Yatgiri. and Mr., Rajeshekar Navalgi sir, both were level headed man and a hard nut to crack. The assignments were so meticulously designed which made the student to work hard; moreover the zeal to excel was the mantra at GBS. Each and every subject it may be Finance or HR were dealt with great interest. Hats off to all the faculties who took care of us and taught us with great enthusiasm. Not only academics but extracurricular activities were given equal importance at GBS. To recall few Galacto Management Fest, Pinnacle sports event, Raga musical concert were the benchmark set by GBS when it was just a novice. Really had very good time at GBS, it was fun along with great learning..! GBS is one of its kinds in the entire Karnataka because of its culture and the excellent learning environment provided for students. Cheers to Management members, Faculty members and the entire team of GBS..! I wish GBS achieves great heights..! Thanking you, Sameer Hunashikatti

“The important and main part of my education life happened at GBS. As the days passed I became the discipline secretary of ‘ATHENS’. It was more a kind of learning in my life which really imparted discipline in me. The assignments which were given by our faculties took me to the world of practical. The management games/fests whichever held in GBS gave me lot of inputs regarding organizing and controlling the events. The journey of my life was taken to new track when I was called as “Singer of GBS” that added one more valuable moment to my days at GBS. I got an excellent experience of flying abroad i.e. to Malaysia which was the first time in my life. In the end I am happy that I got placed in a company, the job which I wanted to do.

“The day I had decided to do MBA I was very clear that I’ll be joining GBS to pursue MBA. On academic front the classroom sessions were very interesting, faculties tried to imbibe practical things in their teaching which helped me lot in understanding the subjects. We would go in groups to different organizations & learn new things. One more good experience was we would go for survey that helped me to learn how to approach the people. I had my first experience of night out presentation at GBS for macro economics. It was an awesome moments because all 120 students were in one class for the whole night. GMG was very unique thing that I experienced for the first time in my college life as there was so much of inputs given by all the committees that would present some new things every week. There were many in-house events conducted. I remember the days spent in preparation for the fests i.e. GBS UTSAV, GALACTO and TCS drive right from sponsorship activities, designing of event, hosting inaugural program, preparing for the cultural to the valedictory function. Most exciting thing which happened with our batch was trip to Malaysia!! My First experience of an international tour it was awesome. I also got my first job at GBS it’s really a wonderful thing that happened to me in GBS.

“My journey began in GBS with the orientation program for 5 days. Soon after we enjoyed our fresher’s party conducted by our seniors. We had been to the first fest from the GBS as a group of 20 people to the Bangalore and enjoyed a lot. I participated in every function like it may be management day, Bhumika, Reminiscence, pinnacle, TCS drive etc, these are some functions which I attended in my first year. I got an opportunity to participate in the most awaiting event “GALACTO 2012” I was coordinator of the finance event which I felt very happy and it built the confidence in me. I would like to thank all my faculties for supporting me in all the activities and in the academics.

“It was proud moment for me when they called me for lightning the lamp as I was the first person who took the seat in GBS for our batch. I had never done project as I have done here i.e live projects in costing, POM, organizational behavior & the most experience giving project was the MR project. I still remember those days when we went home late evenings around 9pm just to complete the project reports. I attended my first management fest because of GBS. The quiz event which we organized at GBS UTSAV was also a memorable one. GBS also gave me the experience of MY first International tour to Malaysia. The fresher’s & farewell parties were also refreshing ones. It’s GBS which made these 2 yrs very precious years in my life.

“It’s a very interesting start I had in GBS. When I was in my graduation I never used to talk to any boys and I had my own group. But the first and the foremost challenge I faced in GBS is that, during orientation we were grouped in to a group of 6 students each and I was the only girl in that group. During orientation we were supposed to prepare a presentation and that was my first presentation in my life. I was elected as a Joint secretary of cultural committee and then we as a cultural committee organized many activities in the college and continued the legacy of GBS. First time as a part of academics, I was made to go in to market and do survey on the OB assignment. I participated in management fest for the first time in my life. SIP was a great experience for me. Got practical experience of working in corporate office, learnt many new things there. After completing my second semester I was like a part of GBS. I was not interested to leave collage for single day also. To conclude I can say GBS has changed my identity. I became more active, participative in my life.

“When I first visited GBS with my score sheet I met Aarti madam who showed the campus and explained me the etiquette and culture of GBS. I felt my decision to choose GBS was the best decision of my life time. Classroom sessions gave me quality knowledge about various subjects offered by the university and I felt it as very vast and exhaustive. But once I adjusted to this new environment I understood that this was not exhaustive but it was an effort to make us familiar with all the management lessons and curriculum.
It is a dream of every person coming from a rural area to visit other countries, to travel by airplane first of all to see airplane from so near. Thanks to GBS for giving such wonderful memories and support in MALAYSIA. I attended 4 companies and Nagraj Sir helped me to get placed in HDFC BANK as Personal Banker.GBS gave me opportunity to be a part of Organizing committee of GALACTO-12. The nominations for gold/silver medals were announced in the college for BHUMIKA-12, my name in that made me proud.

“It’s really nice to share MY DAYS AT GBS. Knowingly and unknowingly we work together in many functions for which GBS is well known brand in Twin City Hubli- Dharwad compared to others. Whether it is for cultural or for academics or for sports or for Placements we stand first. Orientation program of one week, I personally feel that made me to think many new things, its totally changed me. Like this Malaysian tour was also one of the best tour we had where first time we experienced flight. Compared to other B-SCHOOLS we have best faculties not only regular but also guest faculties. I have many friends who are pursuing Management course in different colleges but when I asked them about their college they always informed that our GBS College is the best because we do not concentrate only in one field where students get bored. I am proud that I selected the best B-SCHOOL i. e. GBS in twin city.

“It was great experience being here. These two years, I have learnt many things and now when I look back I experience the change in me. I improved in terms of public speaking, anchoring, organizing and so on. I can also now recall that during my first presentation I was shivering with stage fear. I have learnt very good problem handling skills, stress management and how to meet deadlines. My internship was like a turning point which gave me a very good exposure and learning experience. I was encouraged, appreciated, criticized and discouraged time to time but it always added towards my learning and helped me to learn and become better with every step.

“Main thing in GBS is about placement, and in my second chance I got placed in SBI Life and I am very much satisfied about job and my parents also thank GBS. GBS is about Sports because I was the secretary of sports and participated in both the years’ inter Pinnacle sports tournament. I contributed to the winning of GC(General Championship). I should thank all the faculties and non teaching staff.

“I wanted to do my MBA in another institute but my friends suggested to me to join GBS. When I joined GBS I was not comfortable but later I liked it. It is good experience studying at GBS. I actively participated intra college sports that is pinnacle. I was part of cricket team at GBS. Before I was not confident about my presentation skills and was not good at presentations but later under the guidance of faculties I could improve myself. I was one of the members in infrastructure committee. The feedback session which is conducted in GBS is one of the Plus point where in I could give my suggestions about the faculties. We had been to Malaysia for industry visit and it was a very good experience.

“A slight smile flashes on my face when I sit to cherish my memories of 2 years life in GBS. The day from the orientation, each day spent in GBS was a special day for me. I still remember the days of orientation where we had so much fun doing those group activities, out bond program. I was wondering was it only fun & enjoyment in GBS?? But then we were carried on to the academic rigor too. For the first time ever I did live projects & had such a great experience in doing it. It’s for the first time we did night out in GBS where we did presentations, it was so much fun. The Industry Institute Interface (III) sessions where in the industry experts addressed us were really a very good experience. The best thing we had here is the independence & the autonomy; it’s because of this, we could do so many GMG activities in our class, each committee had some different activities to do. It was because of GBS, I got my first experience of attending management fest, working for GBS events gave us the platform to learn & showcase our talents. Those small moments at GBS, those lobby chit chats, those times when we had sat till late evenings’ for assignment submissions, and project completion & sometime purposely we sat till late evenings with friends had some unforgettable memories with me.
The placement activities & my first interview of my life I had in GBS, the career net placement was the happiest day for me.

Jayashree Pangam 2010-12,
GBS gave me hands full of experience. I was preparing for my PGCET exams at Dharwad Classic Coaching
classes there I gathered the information about the MBA colleges in and around Hubli- Dharwad. A friend of
mine inspired me telling all the Pros and Cons of all the colleges and we rated GBS as our 1st preference.
I remember my 1st day of orientation when we were introduced to the faculties, Admin staff and Sub Staff
who are very humble and kind. The faculties come with experience in corporate. They never let down the
students when subject related questions are asked. The most fun filled academic activity is case study
solving where faculty introduce us to real time corporate examples.
I was lonely in campus for the first day of my GBS but now I will never be so in the future. We had enjoyed
all cultural programs, fresher’s party GBS Utsav and many more. I actively participated in most of the
events. I got recognition at GBS , I started believing in myself & became more confident and capable of
facing interviews . I cracked my interview in Wep Peripherals, it was happiest day of my life I really thank
GBS.I am Proud to say I am Part of GBS Family

2010-12,
My two years’ stay at GBS has been filled with lot action and drama. To start with : journey of joining to GBS
, I was in dilemma about the course to join and then the college, but finally choose GBS because of the
academic record the college has gained in short span of time. The decision of joining GBS was well justified
right in the 1st sem. The major difference in GBS and other college is the amount of freedom that faculty
give to the students to express the knowledge they have and also appreciate them. The learning experience
what I got in this college is unmatched. With non academic part the fun weeks, management day, HR day
(prayas), the placement drive of TCS were the most enjoyed movements. Unknowingly I learnt some
management concepts, hence came to the conclusion that in GBS anything/ or any event completed is with
the application of management concepts. The discussions we had in class use to be very informative, Since I
come from the technical background, learning finance subjects was very difficult , my special thanks to all
Finance faculties for teaching finance subjects. GBS has made me be punctual. The lengthy classes and the
54
pressure of meeting the deadlines for assignments and projects have given me great learning. My thanks to
all the facultys and non academic staff for making my stay at GBS a pleasant one.
Lingraj Nayak
2010-12,
First thing I liked about this college is the classrooms named Sparta my class and Athens and then later the
campus and environment. Before the classes commenced all of us had given our introduction many times
in our induction program. But we really came to know about each other when we started doing our
presentations and assignments. After some days the students were allotted different committees,
Once academic sessions started I got to know about the faculties of all the subjects and from them I learnt
many things which stands to help me for rest of my life. The knowledge about the subjects and related
areas which made me to improve in the sections where I felt weak. I really thank all the faculties for
sharing their knowledge and expertise.
I went to Bangalore to do my SIP and learnt a lot with practical aspects of work life. After finishing two
months of SIP I came back to GBS for my third semester and chose HR stream. It was a good learning in
third semester with many events of my college GBS. Later in placements I got selected for Career Net. Over
all I got very good experience in my college GBS and learnt many things with faculties and friends of GBS.

2010-12,
The day when I joined GBS I had some kind of fear in my Heart because I didn’t have any kind of
management knowledge, But day by day when I started interacting with the faculties and students of GBS I
started learning management knowledge. I was having stage fear and coming to the stage and giving
presentations was a big thing to me but our faculty Ms. Tejaswini who motivated me telling that once you
come and give presentation fear disappears, and then slowly I came out of fear and completed my 1st
semester with fun. We had night-out class conducted by Dr. Ramakant sir, a very new experience till
morning.
55
Then SIP experience of two months enabled me to get good experience with the organization and after
completion of my project on September 10th when I went to submit my final report to Spicer India Ltd I still
remember HR Head captain Mr. Raman Raina, was very much impressed with my project work and he
greeted me with a bouquet, It’s all because of GBS and I was very happy on that day. Even on the final
presentation in viva in GBS September 24th 2011, taken by Prof. Chachadi sir and he said ‘you will become
a future HR manager this made me happy and proud’. I took HR as my specialization I am really enjoyed
my HR classes.
GBS gave knowledge in terms of academics, activities, fun, and enjoyment and also it gave me numerous
opportunities to represent to in the outside colleges. In one word GBS is truly PROFESSIONAL.
Zainab Farzeen Shaikh
2010-12,
I have heard a lot of people stuck to the stereotype lines like “I was confused as to join which college or am
I making a mistake or am I in the safe hands & so on” But I was always clear to enter the gates of GBS and I
loved how the institute molded me.
‘Responsibilities’ what a difficult word for me to digest but this college made me understand the meaning
of responsibility & how to take it up & today I stand here with broad shoulders & a proud smile on my face
to have been the secretary of Alumni committee.
At GBS life is not restricted to the gate but how life treats beyond the gate of college is being thought(
Malaysia trip)
Lastly I thank my Director, Faculties & my seniors for molding me for who I am today

2010-12,
I still remember the first day at GBS that I had introduced myself in funny and rythematic manner which
made me to connect with the faculties and with my new friends. The most turning point of my life came
during my MBA 1st semester when I successfully sold 20 stalls for Rotary Club of Hubli North for
conducting the ‘UTENSIA EVENT’. That event gave me recognition, respect, honor , and everyone
eventually started calling me as ‘MR. UTENSIA’, I carried the same zeal & enthusiasm in all the events of
GBS especially during management day, pinnacle, GBS Utsav, Galacto-12 & was successful in executing it. I
really thank GBS for providing me the scope of doing my project at Bangalore in Mudra Communications,
that really made me to transform into a professional. The greatest and the most richest learning that I can
take from GBS is confidence and selflessness if these things are there then definitely everything you do will
fall at right places.

2010-12,
It was my dream day of joining MBA College and getting knowledge of corporate world and the dream has began in the college called Global Business School (GBS) – Hubli. Opportunities what I got in GBS are, Designing creative elements like Hoarding, Banners and other elements, and GBS helped me in designing the elements in the field of advertisement and creative stuffs. I was not knowing what the market and corporate world is. I chose Marketing specialization at GBS interacting with marketing faculties. GBS given me a great knowledge of corporate world and how marketing applies in corporate world. I still remember those days of Malaysia Trip, South India Tour, Industrial Visits, Management Fest, events in GBS, exams fear, presentations, marketing research project, all the classes and trips with college friends, celebration of friends and faculties birthday at GBS, placements, interaction with faculties, everything was just awesome. I will cherish these moments in my life.

Alkeshkumar Jain 2010-12, Every day at GBS for me was an experience and learning. When I was in degree people said you can’t do anything but thanks to GBS that today I proved everyone that they were wrong because at GBS I had many opportunities to express myself. I felt and realised I can be a leader, in fact GBS family made me the leader. In my degree I used to worry that I don’t know how to speak good English. And then thought let’s give up
the efforts. I also thought after degree let me go for my family business. I never tried to learn and speak in
English, so I thought let me learn at least in MBA and with the God’s grace I luckily got the college which I
had expected and learnt English and today feel the decision what I made 2 years before was very right and
I thank all the faculty of GBS who enabled and stand witness to this change.
Even I had never done MOC in my BBA, but Mahesh sir gave me the first chance to do the MOC on New Year
party. At GBS I learnt how to handle an event and how to make it very successful, with the help of faculty.
Thanks to GBS and GBS family for making me such a good student and providing a good platform for my
success.

2010-12,
The most memorable days of my entire life are at GBS, The day I joined GBS one thought that came into my
mind is “I don’t belong here”, Because the class rooms were posh , faculties were too good , everything was
very much new to me. I was not very comfortable at the beginning but later I started to get adjusted to the
environment, The classes at GBS would start early in the morning and ended late in the evening and we
would be exhausted . The faculties at GBS are knowledgeable, supportive. They are the ones who brought
confidence in me ,trusted in me and gave responsibilities , now I am not shy , no stage fear , presentation
skill has improved and I am a confident person.. I have taken part in many cultural activities like dance . as
my main interest is in dance. We had an under graduate management fest “GBS utsav”. I took part in
sponsorship and I was one of the coordinators of event that is “Team Leader” which we successfully
completed. Then began the placements at GBS, and I got placed in a good company .My days at GBS are the
most memorable and unforgettable days. GBS turned me from nothing to something. It gave me a new start
, I find words are very less to pen down my days at GBS .

2010-12,
I joined GBS in month of September 2010, didn’t knew anyone before, my first day started with orientation
program and as days passed I could mingle with friends and teachers and felt happy that I came into an
institution of my thoughts matching to it. Days with academics started as I knew that I wanted to do MBA in
marketing I loved marketing subjects compared to other subjects. As days passed I started working for the
improvements related to infrastructure being the member of that committee. After second semester we
had SIP which I did in Bangalore, came back for mid review I was happy again to be in my college campus
spent whole day and discussed with friends. I had hands on experience of selling my hospital products at
Bangalore. Third semester we began with specialization as my area of interest I choose Marketing and had
so many subjects in third semester I liked strategic management subject and had lot of fun.
In month of November got placed in Wep India. That was the first company to our college. For this I am
thankful to Mr.Nagaraj,Goudar sir, Director Placements. In fourth semester along with regular academics
we did Galacto fest I was part of marketing event. In month of April we went to south India and had lot of
fun. At last I would like to say thanks to GBS for giving this platform for my future.
Raqueeb Abdulrazak Basari 2010-12,
It all started in the year 2010 when I joined GBS after much introspection as to which college I should opt
for. Even after almost 2 yrs the day is still fresh in my mind when I entered the portals of GBS. I was very
much impressed by the infrastructure and the cleanliness and I was happy that I had made the right choice.
As days flew, I came to know my other faculty members and they were less like teachers and more friendly
& co operative. In the 1st semester I was appointed as IT committee’s joint secretary which gave me ample
space to work independently for my institution in that field. At the beginning of our 3rd semester
placements began and it was smooth sailing for me to hit the first company itself and get selected at WeP
India ltd. Then I assisted my placement director Mr. Nagraj Goudar, as a student coordinator for the various
companies which came to GBS and assisted him in organizing undergraduate placements by TCS,
Bangalore. It gave me the much needed practical knowledge. We were taken on a south India tour and
visited main cities of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Each destination was unique in itself and we had a
taste of a different cultures, language, lifestyle & food habits, though we were all Indians. The tour made me
59
think that our GBS was indirectly preparing us to adjust to different life styles and make us ready to work
in any environment. I feel very less institutions give such opportunity to students. When I walk out of GBS I
carry a bounty of experiences and knowledge, the fond memories of my faculty members. When I reach my
aim and goal and be successful in life I’ll owe this to GBS for shaping a fruitful career.
Ajay Babu K Muralidhar
2010-12,
I had a clear cut thought that I will join GBS to pursue my MBA , I was a part of Industry Institute Interface
Committee (III) and placement committee where I learnt many things because , I was responsible for
arranging guest lectures for my class along with our coordinator. In academics, Assignments and projects
really taught me many things like time management, how to handle pressure, stress etc. My real interest in
academics lies in marketing and in marketing its retail and sales management I got lot of knowledge in
these areas.
I was lucky enough to participate in as many as 4 management fests organized by different colleges across
Karnataka and won few. That experience helped me to organize Galacto, In Galacto ’12 I was leading the
“Best Manager” team. In the first year of my MBA, I got selected for the college cricket team played all
matches ,we came second in intra class games, we retained the General Championship , At Pinnacle also, I
was a part of the cricket and volley ball team and we won the cricket as well as volley ball and ultimately
became the General Champions, felt relieved that we could retain the title that our seniors had got for GBS.
In Placements, I got selected too, as retail is one of my interest, I was placed in Adity Birla Retail . I can
truly say that my journey at GBS has really been smooth and an unforgettable experience.

2010-12,
Let me start by saying that Joining GBS was the one of the BEST DECISIONS OF my
life..
GBS! thinking about What I was and what I am now, I must say the way things run here are just great, the
activities, the assignments. The faculties are just great. They build you for the future, by building in a sense
of responsibility, by helping us know our talent and improve them.
GBS gives a lot of scope in various activates like sports, cultural, and management fests which are just
amazing.. I feel great to be a part of all these events. In GBS I have learnt a lot of things, about success, about
hard work and lot about LIFE. This was the 1st place where I hosted so many shows. There are a lot of
memories here. I met people here who showed me light in my dark hours, friends who I will never forget in
my life time. And faculties who helped me in my short comings. Any time I walk in the faculty cabin they
were always there to help me out. There are so many things about this college that brought me back to life.
GBS is a place I came back to life and learned to live. GBS ROCKS.

2010-12,
I was lucky enough to get seat in GBS. My stay at GBS has been a wonderful learning & fun journey. The
classroom sessions were very interesting as faculties tried to imbibe practical things in their teaching
which helped me a lot in understanding the subjects.
The live projects that were given were very interesting. We would go in groups to different organizations &
learn new things. Especially during the MR project we had very tough time because both the classes were
combined & group was formed this really helped me to mingle with people, co-ordinate & to work out of
my comfort zone I had my first experience of night out presentation at GBS for macro economics it was an
awesome moment.
TCS drive was another event which gave me an opportunity to be a part of registration committee which
gave me an experience of handling a huge crowd. One thing which I can never forget is to be nominated for
61
in Bhumika Awards in Marketing stream. I am really feeling proud about myself that out of 58 students in
marketing stream I am in top 15. Lastly I would like to say my stay at GBS was an amazing experience that I
will cherish throughout my life. Proud to be Globalite.
Sooraj Ravindra Umarani
2010-12,
In the beginning days I was getting bored of the college and tried to take back the admission , I was
planning to drop the admission. Then Prashant Yatgiri sir called some of seniors, I still remember the name
Kanishka Narendra along with 2 more seniors, His words inspired me a lot to continue at GBS.
I continued my days at GBS, met with good friends and got very good teachers. Started studying, then came
the big problem of presentations at class I was not aware of how exactly to be at stage that was my first
presentation ever, still I struggled a lot and made the presentation that day I was happy to complete my
task. Then I continued to attend events in the college I got the certificate chocolate boy of the college and
best costume in fun week contest
In my first year of MBA, in the Inter Class sports(Intra Pinnacle) I represented volley ball and Cricket and I
was the captain for the both the teams, and we beat the senior team, toughest team in volley ball and in
cricket scored my half century in the final match with seniors and won the cricket too. This was the journey
of mine in the GBS well supported by our faculty.

2010-12,
It was like a dream come true when I joined GBS. Got to know about Global Management Guild (GMG)
which was never heard before in any institute or business school where in students’ involvement in
managing activities and other events conducted by GBS which gave a professional touch (Management by
practice). There were various committees in GMG but my heart said yes to academic committee and
henceforth had great time in doing GWR every week which was a part of Academic committee among
various other activities engaged by the committee.
62
A lot of value addition happened with the live projects and assignments given by the faculties of GBS such
as marketing research project in ‘Chicken Hut’ group was combined by the students from both the classes
and I was heading the group.
Apart from this one of the biggest achievement in my life at GBS was getting placed in SBI LIFE in the
operations profile with the package of 2.5 p.a. There was only one profile of operations and executives of
SBI selected me for the post and I got nice compliments from them and my interview lasted for approx 45
minutes. They were impressed by my achievements and self introduction. At the end of the day I owe all
credit to the external and internal locus of control which enabled me to have the exemplary and impeccable
days at GBS.
Nikhil Patil
2010-12,
My days in GBS are really mesmerizing, I am a student from Belgaum, Having good colleges in Belgaum and
yet chose GBS only because of the directors and faculties and environment.
I still remember my first day at the college where we in the class were treated as the upcoming leaders and
managers by Manik sir. That sense of seriousness from the day one was found in the college.
This college has given me a platform to upgrade my knowledge, improve my skills and expose myself to
corporate world by conducting management fests, attending management fests and more importantly by
giving live and field projects, especially Marketing research projects and strategic management projects. I
was just nothing when I was in this college on the first day, but the kind of nourishing and polishing done
here can be viewed as a live example by my nomination to the Bhumika Marketing Awards.
It was not only teaching staff but as well non-teaching staff form Liberian Jyoti madam, Vijay sir and
Shivanand, Shilp madam and Nagraj Goudar Sir, getting me placed in one of the reputed Companies that’s
ITC. It could have not been possible for me to reach this height without my faculty support. I thank full of to
all them for being there with me because a student who has started his higher education from 38.88% and

2010-12,
The day I got in to GBS was 23rd Sep 2010 our day of induction. As days passed, months passed the time for
1st semester exams came and the results were good for me as I got 70.23%.
The 2ed semester special for Marketing Research our group was good we had good understanding in the
beginning but as days passed as we felt the unity was slowing down, the whole group sat down for a
meeting we all solved all the issues and we all divided our work equally. The group regained unity again
and that day I understand the concepts which I learnt in my MBA class (conflict management). I started to
understand the nature and behavior of my group. The day of submission of MR was really very hard and
the best day in my days at GBS because of the tension and submission. All was good and we as a group did
the submission of report and our viva was good. We had the anxiety of placement especially when the visit
of the first company to our collage happened. It was like only 4 got selected and its by the Grace of GOD and
my hard work which made me to crack the interview of ITC. I felt I was at the top of the word I shared my
JOY with all the family of GBS..
In a nut shell life in GBS was a happy time.

2010-12,
My life in GBS started from first day and made me not to miss a single day here; I put my first mark in GBS
when I was the final candidate in the Mr. Fresher’s competition. I danced here had fun, when missed the
classes got scolding from the faculty and got appreciations from the same faculty for the good work done. I
never missed my home when I was in GBS, the part of my life spent in GBS and with my friends here is
nothing less than that I spent back at home. My faculties always provided the platform for me to improve. I
wish to add one more thing that I found different at GBS is about the nonteaching staff they too are very
caring and behave as relatives which makes me feel emotionally connected to this college and in one word I
can explain the atmosphere here is same as “HOME” I am very happy to be a part of this family.
I have even become very active after coming to this college that’s because here in GBS we get opportunity
to conduct events and to be a part of these events.GBS has given me all those things with which I can step
out of this campus and confidently say to myself and the world that “MY TIME STARTS NOW”. Thank you.

2010-12,
My first day to GBS , I met Diana Ma’am , came here to inquire about admission at GBS. She was so humble
and co-operate that I felt as if I am already the part of the institute and gave all the relevant information.
Then, the same day I met our Director Academics then and now director Dr. Ramakant kulkarni, we had
an interaction for about 15-20minutes and discussed about admission process and fees structure and had a
tea together which made feel good as it was first meet and he made it so simple and I felt honored .After
working for 5 to 6 years, I thought it will be hard for me to sit in the class and cope up with other as they
were at least 2 to 3 year younger to me except couple of them. Then as days passed, I never felt as if I am
studying from such a huge gap. These days were the best days I ever had in life after my school days as I
had never been to college after 12th , had done my graduation externally. Not to forget our faculties who
were always a good mentor and were a motivation for me for these 2 years. THANKING ALL MY GBS

2010-12,
I was interested in doing HOTEL MANAGEMENT but fate erased the word HOTEL and I ended up doing
MANAGEMNT course here at GBS. Finally I became one amongst the 120 students. The ORIENTATION
period was a good start to this program which was like a gist of MBA program and I learnt my first lesson
and it was all about confidence, confidence and confidence. Everything was going good until the cloud
busted and the rain of assignments was falling heavily, I sometimes could not withstand the pressure. Then
after passing 1st sem I felt confident of completing MBA successfully. I wish to thank all the faculties, non
teaching staff and my friend for being with me all the time. There are many sweet memories which GBS
gave me like Malaysia tour ( an unforgettable experience), South India tour, All management fests and
Sports event
Thank U GBS for adding such a beautiful chapter in my life

Well I have to say that GBS had made me capable of realizing my dreams, I have learnt a lot from this
college and at the same time I had made a lot of memories here, I have met friends that I will not forget for
a life time and never to forget the things that I have achieved in this college. Speaking about the learning.
We have seen the best of the best faculties here who have thought me a lot about the world that I am soon
going to enter and they have helped me build skills that will not only help me survive but also assist in
Succeeding in the Corporate.. I was elected as the General secretary of the college which showed me that I
am an leader and I can win peoples heart and win their confidence with my action plan. I have got a lot of
opportunities in this college where I have succeeded. I have lead the team and won two inter college level
cricket and volleyball.
One thing what I wish to tell about GBS is that GBS has been performing in all the fields back to back
consistently with high rate of excellence.

9th October 2010 was the day when I joined GBS College. I still remember my days when I met Dr. Prashant
Yatgiri & Dr. Ramakanth Kulkarni. I was so much motivated by them that I dint go for any 2nd thought and
straight away joined GBS. Later I was been informed that I was the last candidate for the batch 2010.
I must admit that I was a terrible person without any responsibility. But my college didnt see me so. I was
put in to Catering committee a committee that takes care of 240 students appetite, keeps them strong for
the challenges they face every day in college.
The fun & the learning I had at GBS is immense. One event I always waited every ever in GBS is SPORTS, the
activity of sports here is mind blowing, the enthusiasm , the team sprit, the passion towards the victory just
steals my breath. I’m sportsman I played Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, and Carom
and tasted victory in these events because of the team we have in GBS, I love my team not because we won
every time but for the way we work to gather, the way we support each other and I’m going to miss this. I
don’t know thinking of these things brings tears in my eyes.

MANAGEMENT DAY
GBS celebrates Management day at its premises. AIMS observes 21st February every year as the management day.
GBS being the management education institute has made management day celebration its yearly activity since 2008. On this occasion, a special lecture is organized taking up the management related areas and issues. On the eve of management day this year, District commissioner of Hubli Dharwad, Sri. Darpan Jain and Police commissioner of Hubli Dharwad, Dr. Ramachandra Rao addressed the students on Management in Government and Administration and function of Police. Sri. Darpan Jain informed that interaction happens with the Government at various levels, administration is more a policy making activity whereas the management is more implementation activity. Being a policy making activity administration happens at the highest level and policy decisions taken are given at operational levels for management. However administration and management co-exist and they do not operate in silos. The intensity may vary as far as the emphasis on administration and management is considered. The aim of the government activity is maximization of public good which forms the basic principle of government decision making. Stressing upon that the government functions in the monopoly situation thereby having a total control on its activity, he informed how the accountability of the government functions is ensured. The accountability is ensured through different authority and institutions, like for instance – Lokayukta, this accountability centers around the management whereas accountability at policy making is ensured by the election process. Although there are other means besides election are available to ensure accountability. Speaking on the governance part, he narrated different roles that the government performs namely Regulatory role, which is more of controlling in nature, Development role, which is more of growth in
68
nature, Judicial role, which is more of ensuring justice, and Facilitator role which is more of supportive type and finally social security role which is a hand holding role for the deprived class. On the good governance, he spoke on the various ways for its ensuring through solid strategic thinking and planning, clear articulation of key strategic objectives, transparent measurement of progress towards objectives, analysis and communication of results to the stakeholders. The management interface brings up such area as the change management, human resource management, conflict management, project management, public finance management and marketing management. While elaborating the human resource management, although theory X and Y are generally available tools, but a better mix of the two depending on context is what works he added. The management in Government is a challenging job, the challenges one faces are the fast changing environment, the backlog in growth, diffused decision making, heterogeneous stakeholders and conflict in demands that one need to look at on regular basis. These challenges can better be handled through the various skills such as time management, communication skills, team work, emotional intelligence, quick learning and positive approach. He advised to desist from forming opinions and the taking a negative side and called upon saying both positive and negative energies work, but always better to have positive energy put to work. Answering various questions from the student audience, he elaborated that although many a old trees are chopped off, the road widening project between Hubli and Dharwad is in the larger interest of the people. Highlighting the constant efforts of initiation and leading the development on nature and greenery front, He cited the examples of beautification of unkal lakes, various small lakes and ponds taken up for water conservation, the tree plantation project, and increased frequency and regularization in water supply to the people, He called upon the cooperation and suggestions from every student and citizen. He also spoke on the mismatch between the revenue and the demands on the expenditure being always there, the situation becomes challenging on the project completion.
69
Sri. Darpan Jain concluded by saying that today people suffer from stress due to the work they perform; hence a person needs to do a job that he enjoys and draws satisfaction from. The Police commissioner – Dr. Ramachandra Rao in his lecture spoke on administration and functioning of Police. The population of Hubli Dharwad is around 18lakhs makes this city as the 2nd largest after Bangalore. The twin city of Hubli Dharwad presents a diverse demography; therefore the Police department faces a wide variant of challenges and problems. Though the distance between the two places is just about 20kms, there is a cultural difference between these two places. Because of this setting, the social law and order issues exist, and intensive policing was needed which brought in the commissioner ate office in Hubli from the earlier S.P headed Police division. Bringing out the structure of the Police Department under his commissioner ate, he highlighted various statistics to bring out his points.
The All India average Police Vs. Population is 133 per one lakh population, the Karnataka state average is 122 Police per one lakh population and for Hubli Dharwad it is 138 Police per lakh population ,he informed. He explained the functions and duties of commissioner, the duty hours, the law and order to maintain peace, the control of force, and the cordial relation with other related departments and public, he said the police has to lead by example to gain
the confidence of the public. The areas of police functioning are far and wide the canvas covers law and order, crime prevention, VIP security, Traffic management, communal harmony, public relations, peace in society, man management and police welfare. In order that this scope is well covered there is a need for leadership he added. Narrating a story on leadership, he cited how a leader can make a difference by good planning and ensuring its implementation. Expressing satisfaction over the efforts of the police in crime control, he showed through statistics how the crime rate has been brought under control in various areas .He expressed concern, however on the increase in the crime rate against women. The stricter traffic management has reduced the road accidents, fine collection is not the objective, when he showed the amount of fine collections is increased over a period of last 3 years, it’s the road safety that matters behind the police initiative. The police service being prevalent naturally in all the area of day to day routine life, the suggestions are always sought by his office, Answering the queries, he says a responsible citizen can help the police in its duties. Road accidents assume a bigger part due to the increase in vehicle population, the cameras are instituted to ensure that the over speeding does not happen. Camera is not the final answer and when the roads are widened, maybe the cameras will be withdrawn. He concluded with team work effort of public and police for the peace and order in the city. Prof. Manik co-ordinated the program and Director Dr.Ramakant Kulkarni thanked the speakers, Vice President of the Society Sri.Mahendra Kothari and Life member Sri. Jayantilal Mahajanseth were present on the stage.

“ABHIVRUDHI”-2012
-Finance for Non-Financiers
The finance event “Abhivrudhi”, achieved its existence because of two crucial reasons: One was: when
the day I entered my first finance class, I had a
dream of setting a trend in the small bowl of finance
club. The dream was filled with lots of desires and
ambitions. The desire of making an unknown to the
known, a desire of imbibing the good to the sound, a
desire to make a remarkable success. The second
was: To do something new to the event which also
thereby adds value for the finance curriculum.
The dreams have come true and served the very
purpose of good to the sound. The main objective of
inaugurating the Finance Club was to begin the journey and lead towards success in all that we perform
in this field. Finance has a crucial role to play in today’s world. As put forth by our beloved Director, Dr
Ramakant Kulkarni” a businessman may start his
day with marketing and may end up with Finance
or may be HR. So it is very important in one’s life to
attain a basic about Finance. This event straightly
conveyed the message of creating awareness about
finance to the Non-Financiers. As well the event
also had an
objective of harmonizing the cross functional team
so that the team shows their inherent talents and
exhibit thereon.
It’s obvious that most people have suffered enormous losses during the recession, but the reason is
quite simple. It is just a complete lack of knowledge about basic financial concepts. In fact, you may
encounter such problems at any time of economic recession or even in rather peaceful circumstances.
The only way is to upgrade yourself with at least basic financial knowledge, if not a full understanding
of finance. It’s clear enough that such Masters degrees in Finance are in the list of must-have of any
prospective person.
74
The event began with the inaugural by our beloved Director, DrRamakant Kulkarni as a chief patron,
our beloved Finance chair, Prof Tazeentaz Mahat followed by other respective
faculties.Dr Ramakant Kulkarni gave the
valuable inputs to the students regarding
the crux of knowing the basic terms in
finance when one starts choosing his/her
career. “One should
have some sound knowledge about
finance is what it requires to be in any
path of career we choose”. This is what he
put forth in front of students. Students
were impressed and showed an
enthusiastic kind of a feeling after having
being heard so inspiring words from the Professor.
In total there were six rounds hosted by the organizers. Every round had some learning experience by
the students. The students could enhance their capabilities and ensure better learning from their
defeats.
The valedictory was preceded with the two resource people from corporate Mr. Arun Chikopp and
Miss. Nandini. They also were the judges for the stress round.
I conclude by the famous quote “Men may come and Men may go” But Abhivrudhi will go on and on
every year as a benchmark for the Institute. Not to forget wishing all the organizers a very best who
have organized the event and made it happen a very great success. Three cheers to the great
organizers.

In all 10 Institutes participated, Besides the MBA Institutes, the corporates, HR Executives were invited to participate. The day long programme saw deliberations by both Corporates, highlighting their expectations of MBA students in giving them placement and the institutes preparing the students for placement. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Ashok Chachadi, Dean and Director of Kousali Institute of Management Studies, Dharwad. Mr.U.S Parmeshwar, General Manager-HR, Kirloskar Electric Company Ltd, Hubli was the Guest of Honour. Highlighting the importance of Placement, Dr.Chachadi stressed upon MBA institutes to be sensitive to the needs of industry and preparation of students suitably.
Student counseling is essential for right placement he said further. Mr.Parameshwar emphasized on how industry spots and uses the people. Good academic background, better IQ and General Knowledge, extra- curricular activities, self confidence, and health play significant part in placement. Today there is a greater need on leadership skills besides the managerial skills he added. MBA institutes should strive for giving quality education was his call. Business is shifting to customer orientation and students should be flexible in adapting to the change to succeed he said further.
The corporates spoke upon readiness by students to ignite marketing skills, the gender difference should not come up in taking up career in marketing, a fair bit of aggression is needed in group discussion, and good communication and personal grooming matter a lot in success of getting placed. Further it is essential that students to develop appreciation of company process and practices and comply with them because these process and practices are carefully designed for well intention of productive work, corporates added. While knowledge level was found okay, the competence and attitudes pose a challenge to corporates on the part of employees, so it is important to work on these. Apart from IQ, today EQ plays key role to succeed. It is performance driven situation and compensation is directly tagged to performance and not just seniority so focus on performance is needed by the employees.
