EVOLUTION OF NON-TECHNICAL RULES Crit eria for accept abilit y of applicant s In 198 2, general requirement s for operat ing hist ory, t angible net wort h and product ion levels were int roduced for gold by t he London Gold Market . These crit eria were adopt ed and in some cases modif ied by t he LBMA.

• The init ial requirement was for 10 t of annual ref ined product ion of large gold bars. In 2000 , t his was relaxed t o 10 t of t ot al ref ined product ion.

• For s ilver, t he LBMA adopt ed a f igure of 3 0 t of t ot al ref ining product ion in 2000 and amended t his t o 50 t in 2012.

• Owning company t angible net wort h of £ 5 million (increased t o £ 10 million in 1993 and £ 15 million in 2012).
