On behalf of Brittain Farms and BNH Livestock we would like to welcome you to the seventh Annual Gelbvieh Advantage Bull Sale. Although this year our sale is in a new location we feel this year’s sale offering is better than ever.

This year we have a few new herdsire groups that we are very optimistic about. These new sires have allowed us to offer you, our customer, an outcross pedigree as well as a selection of both calving ease and performance bulls. One thing that we believe sets us apart from other programs is our value in longevity in our livestock and therefore we choose to grow our bulls slowly on a high forage diet. This allows our bulls to get out a work in any situation, ranging from a ranch style operation to a hand breeding purebred program.

The cattle market has started to turn around and we are happy to see producers getting paid for their product. With the incline in market prices we feel this is the chance for cattlemen to replace their mature herdsires with fresh new bloodlines. Purchasing a bull is an investment in your herd’s future and a good herdsire can be an invaluable asset.

Welcome to this year’s offering of the Gelbvieh Advantage Sale. We are pleased to work with the Brittains and Hollmans to offer an outstanding group of bulls this year. There is some excitement again in the cattle industry and we are all holding our breath hoping it will continue.

We are excited to offer this year’s bull crop, as we have come closer than ever to the goals we have set, an aggressive calf at birth, thickness and hair. This, along with functionality is still our focus. Good temperament, good feet and udders as well as easy fleshing, are still high on our check list. Grant Rolston took the bull photos this year and commented on how impressed he was with the bull pen ……”thick and lots of hair!”….and he sees a lot of bulls. We have on offer some performance bulls for the extra pounds at weaning as well as some “heifer types”. We have a great line up of black bulls, as well as red. Gem Dandy has been probably the most outstanding herd sire at EYOT to date. He has produced moderate, easy fleshing offspring with lots of gut, lots of hip and flank that carry down nicely along with a wide top.He seems to add hair coat as well. Dandy has been very consistent in passing on his traits to both reds and blacks. He has produced a Farm Fair Futurity winner and two of his daughters sold very well this past fall. Gem Dandy himself was the high seller at last years Gelbvieh Advantage Bull Sale to Miles Kary.

We didn’t want to wait to see the flush results from Gem Dandy and the awesome Paradee cow that we purchased the flush rights to from Stone Gate, so 82W was a early May calf from last year. We did have him on a handful of cows last breeding season and have already had a couple of calves this calving season and he hasn’t disappointed us. Gotta love the Gelbvieh fertility as he was only 11 months old at the time……and breeding one of our tallest cows. As we are retaining a good number of Gem Dandy calves we have decided to offer this well balanced, moderate bull in this year’s sale. Easy doing and easy going. He will do an awesome job on heifers and cows alike.
