Bottles for ASTOPIn spring Ryan, our camping manager, spent 5 weeks in Costa Rica learning about sea turtles & volunteering with the grass-roots organization Asociacion Salvemos Las Tortugas de Parismina (ASTOP) or in English, Save the Turtles of Parismina. The trip was spearheaded by his partner as part of a 3-month community development project. Along with their 2-year old son Troy, the objective was to help the organization & learn more about the local community.

During their stay, new friends & strong connections were made with the community leaving Ryan, Kristina & Troy wanting to continue to do what they can to help from Canada (until the next trip south, that is!). So, to assist in this endeavor Wild Rock will be donating 10% of our reusable drinking container sales for the month of December to ASTOP. By purchasing your reusable drinking containers (yes they are more than just water bottles) at Wild Rock this December you are directly helping to make this goal & ASTOP’s initiatives possible.

ASTOP’s operations include:nightly beach patrols during the nesting seasonmarine turtle rescues & collaboration with other conservation programs research & the collection of scientific data for national & international databaseshands-on experiences for volunteers interested in conservation & community developmenteducational programs & exchanges community enrichment projects (ie. nutrition centre, sports program, arts & music programs)

All of the funds raised by this campaign will go directly to ASTOP to aid in marine protection, preservation & education. If you’re interested in other ways to donate please contact [email protected] , check them out on Facebook, or speak with Ryan here at Wild Rock.
