FUND RAISINGS / FUNCTIONS / FESTIVALS Ons skop die Kersfeesvieringe af deur ‘n Kerskonsert te hou by twee woonstelblokke in die middestad. Daar is baie kindertjies en ouers wat elke jaar groot waardering het vir hierdie konsert. Ons kort asb hande hier om te help sing, saam speel indien enige iemand kan, projektor hardloop, Skrifgedeeltes lees, kerse en geskenkpakkies uitdeel. Dan hou ons ook ‘n Kerskonsert by die Kinderhuis. Weereens geniet die kindertjies en oppassers elke jaar hierdie geleentheid.

Bybellandtoer 2019! Griekeland en Griekse eilande!
Kom toer volgende jaar saam met my en loop op Paulus se voetspore in Griekeland! Ons vertrek DV op 4 Mei 2019 en keer weer terug op 15 Mei. Griekeland is ʼn baie belangrike Bybelland – die heel eerste Europese land waar ʼn Christelike kerk gestig is. Die Tessalonisense, Filippense en Korintiërs het almal in Griekeland gewoon en Paulus se reise in Griekeland word ook in die boek Handelinge beskryf.
Ons besoek onder andere Tessalonika, Filippi, Berea, Meteora, Athene en Korinte waar die Bybelgeskiedenis vir ons baie werklik word! Die toer sluit ook ʼn luukse bootrit van 3 dae in en ons besoek onder andere die eilande Patmos (waar Johannes die Openbaringboek geskryf het), Kreta (waar Titus die dominee was) en die beroemde Santorini. Die toer is propvol Bybelse geskiedenis, kulturele ervarings en asemrowende natuurtonele.

Mockie and I celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this year and have been in the ministry for almost 14 years. GK Odendaalsrus (2005-2008) was the first congregation where the Lord used us and then we went to GK Bloemfontein-Suidheuwels. Now we minister to the GK Ontdekkers (Roodepoort). Mockie is also an administrative clerk in the church office.
Our son, Henk, married Jo-Nica at the beginning of the year, making us a daughter richer. Henk is doing his internship as auditor and Jo-Nica is a nutritionist at Dischem. Our daughter, Eunice, lives in the Cape and is a broadcaster at Radio Tygerberg. The GK Ontdekkers is a typical city congregation and we struggle with all the same challenges facing the church worldwide. Since 2016 we have been reconsidering our growth as bride of Christ in Roodepoort. We are especially exploring
how to be more and more obedient to Jesus’ great commission. Our Lord uses us through various ministries within the congregation. The elders and members are in ministry of the Word to “Ons Huis” old-age home on a daily basis. We also support and equip leaders for the ministry at Princess Crossing and in Brahm Fisherville.
