Patients, often, forget to take medicines on time unless

some one reminds them to take one. Our client wanted

to build a Google Glass App that would help patients

in taking medicines on time and reward

them accordingly.

We developed a powerful Google Glass App for this PBM Company consisting of 7 key modules. Each of this module offers a unique feature to help patients deal with a specific chronic condition seamlessly. These include –

Solutions Offered

Prescription Management

Once the bar code or QR code of a new prescription is scanned, the glass identifies the drug and asks the patient to schedule a reminder for it. About 5 codes are included in the database for this purpose. The data from CMS also displays a warning for possible drug interaction. There is a simulated reminder setup which can be edited as per a patient's requirement. If the medication is taken on time, the patient is rewarded with some points.

As the glass app scans a particular medication's bar code, the side effects of taking that drug are displayed in front of the patient's eyes. The feature also displays food that causes such side effects. It also displays the time when the drug was taken earlier.

Retrieving Side Effects

This feature works based on object recognition. A specific drug/pill is recognized based on pre-loaded images in the app's database. As soon as the pill is recognized, data is flashed across the screen.

Log Food

This, too, works on object recognition. The app recognizes food and desserts. The items are recognized based on the images loaded in database. Once the item is recognized, the glass displays the kind of item it is along with calories. The patient/user can select the 'Alternatives' option to get suggestions for alternative food items. When an alternative is selected, the user is given certain points. Furthermore, the app also suggests some activities to burn the calorie-intake.

A patient can use this feature to get complete details about the points he/she has earned.

This one offers suggestions regarding the kind of food the patient can take during the day. The app also suggests websites offering health-related tips. The user can also view a specific health website. What's more, the user is also shown some health-fitness related activities/classes which can be signed up for from the app itself.

Results/Benefits

This Google Glass App allows patients to take medicine on time. There's no need for

anyone to remind them. The Glass does the task for them. Moreover, health-related

information can be browsed through right in front of the eyes. Most importantly, the app

allows patients to deal with chronic conditions in the most cost-effective manner.
